Yggdrasil Gaming is a B2B slot developer known for Yggdrasil slots such as Vikings Go Berzerk and Valley of the Gods, and for its own reel mechanics such as GigaBlox and DoubleMax. It does not run casinos. It builds games, supplies them to licensed operators and, through its YGG Masters programme, distributes slots made by smaller partner studios.
This review explains who owns the Yggdrasil Gaming company, what each of its legal entities does, which Yggdrasil slots stand out, and how the Yggdrasil Gaming RTP can differ between versions of the same game. Our facts come from yggdrasilgaming.com, the UK, Maltese, Swedish, Danish and Isle of Man regulators’ registers and the audited 2025 annual report of its parent group, all checked on 17 October 2026.
Short answer: Yggdrasil Gaming is a well-licensed slot provider with a strong back catalogue and a habit of printing every RTP version on its newer game pages. The catch is that most of its 2024–2026 releases come in versions as low as 90.5%, and some partner titles go down to 86%, so check the figure inside the game at your casino.

The Yggdrasil Gaming Company: Founder, Leaders and Offices
Yggdrasil Gaming says it was founded in 2013, and trade press agrees: founder Fredrik Elmqvist, a former chief executive of NetEnt, brought the first demos to the ICE show in February 2013. One Maltese newspaper has given 2012, so you will see both years online. We go with the company’s 2013.
Elmqvist ran the business until April 2022, when trade press reported that he handed the CEO role to Björn Krantz. Krantz stepped down in 2023 and James Curwen, previously Chief Online Officer at OPAP, became CEO on 1 October 2023. In October 2026 the company added David Hopkins, formerly of Flutter and Entain, as Chief Transformation Officer.
The website lists two offices: Level 6, OPUS Penthouse in San Giljan, Malta, and Lubicz 17i in Krakow, Poland. It never labels either one as headquarters. The homepage counts “110+ Yggdrasilians” from more than 20 nationalities and says its games sit with more than 350 operators and 700 online brands.

Who Owns Yggdrasil Gaming?
Yggdrasil Gaming does not name its owner on its own website, but the paper trail is clear enough. In April 2013 trade press reported that Cherry Malta, a subsidiary of the Swedish gaming group Cherry AB, had invested in the young studio. Between 2016 and 2018 trade press described Yggdrasil as a Cherry business unit. In 2018–2019 a consortium led by Bridgepoint bought Cherry AB, and Cherry’s shares left Nasdaq Stockholm in May 2019.
The parent group’s own documents connect the rest. European Entertainment Group AB (publ), or EEG, says it was set up in 2019 by Bridgepoint and minority owners in connection with the take-private of Cherry, and that Bridgepoint is the majority owner. Its 2025 annual report says EEG owns 100% of European Entertainment Intressenter Sweden AB, formerly Cherry AB. The same report lists Yggdrasil Gaming Sweden AB with an 84% shareholding held within the group.
Who holds the other 16% is not stated. EEG’s other companies are ComeOn Group, Highlight Games and Game Lounge. EEG has bonds but no listed shares, and Yggdrasil itself has no stock-market listing. EEG’s chief executive, Itai Frieberger, was named chairman of Yggdrasil’s board in 2023.
Yggdrasil Gaming Limited, Sweden AB and (Gibraltar) Limited Explained
If you have seen “Yggdrasil Gaming Limited” or “Yggdrasil Gaming (Gibraltar) Limited” in a casino’s footer or terms, they are both part of the same group. EEG’s annual report lists eight Yggdrasil companies. We matched them against the regulators’ registers and the developer’s own licence page:
| Entity | Reg. no. | Country | Role and licences |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yggdrasil Gaming Sweden AB | 559107-9735 | Sweden | Top company in the group table (84% held within EEG). UKGC Gambling Software licence 050632-R-328581-004 |
| Yggdrasil Gaming Limited | C 57683 | Malta | Main licensed company: MGA/B2B/230/2012, UKGC remote casino licence 044137-R-322934-015, plus Swedish, Danish and Greek licences (on those regulators' lists) and Romanian licences per the company |
| Yggdrasil Gaming (Gibraltar) Limited | 113925 | Gibraltar | UKGC remote casino licence 045735-R-323978-011. The company also lists Gibraltar B2B licence RGL No. 094 (on a 2016 government list; current status not confirmed) |
| Yggdrasil Software Limited | C 73523 | Malta | Named by the company as holder of Belgian Class E licence 624807 |
| Yggdrasil Isle of Man Limited | 133115C | Isle of Man | Isle of Man software supplier licence (on the GSC register as Yggdrasil Gaming Isle of Man Limited); Buenos Aires City registration per the company |
| Yggdrasil Polska sp. z o.o. | 536325 (as printed) | Poland | Krakow office; no licence found |
| Yggdrasil Holding Limited | C 57560 | Malta | No licence found |
| Yggdrasil Malta Ltd | C 77316 | Malta | No licence found |
Yggdrasil Gaming Limited (Malta)
Yggdrasil Gaming Limited is the Maltese company most players will meet. It holds the MGA licence, the UK licence most often quoted and the Swedish, Danish and Greek licences, and the developer’s footer says “© 2026 Yggdrasil Gaming Ltd”.
Yggdrasil Gaming Sweden AB
Yggdrasil Gaming Sweden AB, registered in 2017 according to Swedish company data, sits at the top of the group table and holds a UK software licence. Swedish data lists it with no employees, so treat it as a holding and licensing company.
Yggdrasil Gaming (Gibraltar) Limited
Yggdrasil Gaming (Gibraltar) Limited holds the third UK account. The company also lists a Gibraltar licence, RGL No. 094, which appears on a Gibraltar government list from 2016; we could not find a current Gibraltar register to confirm its status today. Our review of Gibraltar’s regulator explains how its licences work.
Where the developer’s licence page and the UKGC register disagree on a licence number, we use the register. The register shows higher version suffixes (-015, -004 and -011) than the developer prints (-013, -003 and -008).
Yggdrasil Gaming Licences Mapped to Regulators
The developer’s regulated markets page says it is certified in more than 20 markets. This is how its licences map to the regulators, and how far we could check each one:
| Regulator | Holder | Licence | How we checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| UK Gambling Commission | Yggdrasil Gaming Limited | Casino (Remote), account 44137, from 22 Dec 2015 | UKGC register: Active, no regulatory actions |
| UK Gambling Commission | Yggdrasil Gaming (Gibraltar) Limited | Casino (Remote), account 45735, from 27 May 2016 | UKGC register: Active, no regulatory actions |
| UK Gambling Commission | Yggdrasil Gaming Sweden AB | Gambling Software (Remote), account 50632, from 24 May 2018 | UKGC register: Active, no regulatory actions |
| Malta Gaming Authority | Yggdrasil Gaming Limited | B2B Critical Supply, Type 1 (casino) and Type 3, MGA/B2B/230/2012 | MGA register: Licensed |
| Spelinspektionen (Sweden) | Yggdrasil Gaming Limited | Gaming software licence (no. 23Si614 per the developer), valid 1 Jul 2023 to 30 Jun 2028 | Swedish licence register: Active |
| Spillemyndigheden (Denmark) | Yggdrasil Gaming Limited | Supplier licence 24-431606, valid to 2029 | Name on the regulator's supplier list; number from the developer |
| Isle of Man GSC | Yggdrasil Gaming Isle of Man Limited | Software supplier licence (B2B Software Provision 02/01/2020 per the developer) | GSC software supplier register: listed, product list updated 4 Sep 2026 |
| Hellenic Gaming Commission | Yggdrasil Gaming Ltd | A1 Manufacturer, HGC-000049-MN | HGC public record: valid |
| Gibraltar | Yggdrasil Gaming (Gibraltar) Limited | Remote Gambling (B2B), RGL No. 094, as listed by the company | 2016 government list only; current status not confirmed |
| Romania, Belgium, Buenos Aires | Various group companies | Supplier or manufacturer licences | Developer's page only; registers not reachable |
We checked the three UK accounts on the UKGC public register: a search for “yggdrasil gaming” returns exactly these three businesses, all Active, and each says no regulatory actions have been recorded. The MGA register shows Yggdrasil Gaming Limited as Licensed. Sweden’s licence register lists Yggdrasil Gaming Limited’s gaming software licence as Active until 30 June 2028, and Denmark’s supplier list names Yggdrasil Gaming Ltd.
For what each licence means in practice, read our reviews of the UK Gambling Commission, the Malta Gaming Authority, the Swedish Gambling Authority, Denmark’s Spillemyndigheden and the Isle of Man’s Gambling Supervision Commission. Greece’s Hellenic Gaming Commission also lists Yggdrasil Gaming Ltd as a valid A1 manufacturer.
We found no Yggdrasil licence from Spain’s DGOJ, Germany’s GGL, France’s ANJ or any US state. Its games reach the US and Ontario through Aristocrat Interactive under an exclusive deal announced in January 2025. On testing, the company says its RNG and games are certified by accredited laboratories, without naming them, and that it is ISO 27001 certified.
Yggdrasil Games: 450+ or 575?
Yggdrasil’s homepage says it offers more than 450 games. Its own website database, which we read through the site’s public game listing, holds 575 game pages. Both can be right: the database probably also keeps older or retired titles, which would make it bigger than the live “offered” figure.
The more important split is who made them. Only 159 of the 575 are credited to the Yggdrasil Gaming studio itself. The other 416, about 72%, come from 28 partner studios, led by Reel Play (78 titles), Reflex Gaming (46) and SpinOn (36). So when a casino advertises “Yggdrasil games”, a large share of its lobby may be partner titles distributed by Yggdrasil rather than built in-house.
Almost all Yggdrasil slot games are video slots. The database tags 244 titles as Buy Bonus, 24 as Jackpot and 39 as Collections, and lists 371 line games, 139 ways games and 21 cluster games. Every game page also lists 33 language options.
YGG Masters and YGG Champions: The Partner Programmes
YGG Masters is how the partner titles get there. The company says it curates content from independent studios and covers licensing, infrastructure, compliance, certification, translations and integrations, while the studio keeps its intellectual property. The homepage says there are 21 Masters partners, though its own releases have described one joiner as the 20th (December 2025) and a later one as the 24th, so the count moves.
YGG Champions launched on 23 June 2026 as a “house of brands” for studios that keep their own identity, starting with Suits & Royals, Slightly Edgy and Fish & Chips; 24Karot joined in August 2026. The company says these are not sub-brands of Yggdrasil, and that Masters and Champions together contribute more than 120 games a year.
| Programme | Launched | What the company says it offers | Advertised terms |
|---|---|---|---|
| YGG Masters | Running since at least 2020 | Distribution, licensing, certification and integrations for independent studios | Not published for the programme as a whole |
| Game in a Box | 10 Sep 2025 | Toolkit for studios to build and certify games on Yggdrasil's tech | 75% revenue share for the studio; €22,000 fixed game fee per title |
| Studio in a Box | 2 Mar 2026 | Yggdrasil builds the game for the partner | 70% revenue share; €60,000 game fee per game |
| YGG Champions | 23 Jun 2026 | Investment, production, platform and commercial network for distinct studios | Not published |
| Studio | Games in database |
|---|---|
| Reel Play | 78 |
| Reflex Gaming | 46 |
| SpinOn | 36 |
| 4ThePlayer | 28 |
| Avatar UX | 27 |
| Peter and Sons | 26 |
| Bulletproof | 24 |
| Bang Bang | 23 |
| Jelly Entertainment | 22 |
| Boomerang | 20 |
Together with the Yggdrasil studio’s own 159 titles, these ten partners account for 489 of the 575 database pages. Counts may include older titles that casinos no longer offer.
Megaways, Jackpots and Bonus Buy in Yggdrasil Slots
- Megaways: the catalogue has five Megaways slots, such as Atlantis Megaways and Castle Cash Megaways, but all five come from partner studios (four from Reel Play, one from Jelly). We found no Megaways slot from Yggdrasil’s own studio and no statement that it holds a Megaways licence.
- Jackpots: 24 titles carry the Jackpot tag (14 of them from Yggdrasil’s own studio), from Joker Millions (2015) to 2025 releases such as Dick the Farmer. The company says FastPot5 puts five jackpots in one game and that Atlantean GigaRise has five progressive jackpots. We found no networked jackpot shared across casinos.
- Bonus Buy: 49 own-studio titles and 195 partner titles are tagged Buy Bonus, including Raptor 2 and 3 Piggies of Bank. The company does not say in which markets the feature is switched off, so it may not appear at every casino.
GigaBlox, DoubleMax and Yggdrasil's Other Game Mechanics
Yggdrasil calls its in-house mechanics Game Engagement Mechanics, or GEMs, and puts their names in the game titles. The descriptions below paraphrase the company’s own technology page. Partner studios can use the mechanics too, which is why the counts include some partner games.
| Mechanic | Games in database | What the company says it does |
|---|---|---|
| GigaBlox | 53 | Super-sized symbols land on the reels and split apart; stacked blocks can reach 6x6 |
| DoubleMax | 35 | Every consecutive win doubles the multiplier |
| MultiMax | 20 | Each reel's multiplier rises by one for every Wild that lands on that reel |
| Wild Fight | 10 | High-paying symbols can fight and turn Wild; wins are counted after all fights |
| WildEnergy | 6 | Wilds stay through respins and avalanches until their energy runs out |
| DuoMax | 5 | Multipliers on both sides of the reels, so lines pay left and right; multipliers build with each win |
| Splitz | 5 | All Splitz symbols turn into the same symbol on each spin |
| TopHit | 5 | Can trigger scatters or turn matching symbols Wild; part-landed symbols nudge into place |
| RushingWilds | 4 | Only flavour text published: Wilds that multiply and chain together |
| FastPot5 | 2 | Five distinct jackpots in one game |
| GigaRise | 2 | Reel height persists between spins; a maxed-out reel awards free spins or a bonus, then resets |
| BoltLock | 1 | Breaks barriers on the reels to reveal hidden prizes (company wording) |
| OnlyWins | 1 | Company describes it as removing dead spins; no figures published |
| Lock'em & Load'em | 1 | New in September 2026 (3 Piggies of Bank); no description on the technology page |
| LightningLines | 1 | Named by the company; no description found |
GigaBlox Slots: The Oversized-Symbol Games Compared
GigaBlox is the mechanic Yggdrasil uses most: 53 games in its database carry it. Block sizes differ by game, from up to 4×4 in Gator Gold GigaBlox to up to 6×6 in Hades. These are the GigaBlox games we checked on the official pages. Euro max wins are as printed; the pages do not state the stake they are based on.
| Game | Released | RTP listed | Volatility | Max win (as printed) | Grid |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hades | 22 Oct 2020 | 96% | High | €1,112,900 | 50 lines, GigaBlox from 2x2 to 6x6 |
| Gator Gold GigaBlox | 27 May 2021 | 96% | High | €1,200,000 | 4x6, 4,096 ways, blocks up to 4x4 |
| Golden Fish Tank 2 GigaBlox | 28 Oct 2021 | 96% | Medium-High | €500,000 | 6 reels, 25–40 paylines |
| 90K Yeti GigaBlox | 1 Nov 2021 | 95.5% | Super High | €900,000 (up to 90,000x) | 46,656 ways |

| Turbo Gold Deluxe GigaBlox | 1 Oct 2026 | 90.5%, 92%, 94%, 96% | High | €2,000,000 (10,000x) | 4x5, 4,096 ways |
Best Yggdrasil Slots: Top Yggdrasil Online Slots Compared
Our pick of the best Yggdrasil slots starts with the developer’s own “Top games” list and adds the classics that casino lobbies still feature, so you can compare the best Yggdrasil online slots side by side. It is a comparison of well-known titles, not a ranked list.
Release dates, RTP, volatility and max win come from each official game page. Older titles have one fixed RTP; newer ones list several versions, so we show the full range. Euro max wins are as printed and the pages do not say which stake they assume.
| Game | Released | RTP (official) | Volatility | Max win (as printed) | Format |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vikings Go Berzerk | 23 Nov 2016 | 96.1% | Medium-High | Not compared | 25 lines, collection feature |

| Raptor 2 | 15 Jan 2026 | 97% / 96% / 94% / 90.5% | High | €94,930 (9,493x) | 5x3, DoubleMax |
| MexoMax 2 WildEnergy MultiMax | 25 Sep 2025 | 96% / 94% / 90.5% | High | €500,000 (10,000x) | 6x6 |
Vikings Go Berzerk is the one most players know: a 25-line Viking slot that the developer tags as a Collections game, and an early entry in the long-running Vikings Go series. Valley of the Gods works differently, clearing blockers to open up to 3,125 ways, and its 2020 sequel stretches that to 20,160.
Raptor DoubleMax is the flagship of the DoubleMax mechanic, with cascading reels that add a Wild after each cascade, and Raptor 2 in 2026 brought the series back as the first game built on Game in a Box.
If you want the best Yggdrasil gaming slots for RTP alone, the older single-RTP titles are the easier choice: Golden Fish Tank (96.8%), Ozwin’s Jackpots (96.7%), Multifly! MultiMax and Vikings Go Wild (both 96.3%) carry one published figure. With newer games, what you get depends on the version your casino runs.
| If you… | Try | Why (official data) |
|---|---|---|
| Want a gentler ride | Ozwin's Jackpots or 3 Piggies of Bank | Both listed as Low volatility |
| Like long-run value and fixed RTP | Golden Fish Tank | Single published RTP of 96.8% |
| Chase big multipliers | 90K Yeti GigaBlox | Super High volatility, up to 90,000x per its page |
| Want expanding ways | Valley of the Gods 2 | Grows from 240 to 20,160 ways |
| Like jackpot features | Gold Frontier Jackpots FastPot5 | Five jackpots inside the game |
| Want the newest tech | Turbo Gold Deluxe GigaBlox | October 2026, 4,096 ways, max 10,000x |
Highest Max Win and Highest RTP Among Yggdrasil Slots
We did not check every title in the catalogue, so these are the highest figures among the official pages we read on 17 October 2026, not a claim about the whole range.
| Game | Max win (as printed) | Multiplier on page | Volatility | RTP listed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turbo Gold Deluxe GigaBlox | €2,000,000 | 10,000x | High | 90.5%, 92%, 94%, 96% |
| Vikings Go Berzerk Reloaded | €1,250,000 | Not stated | Medium-High | 96% |
| Gator Gold GigaBlox | €1,200,000 | Not stated | High | 96% |
| Vikings Go To Valhalla | €1,181,700 | Not stated | High | 96% |
| Hades | €1,112,900 | Not stated | High | 96% |
| Cazino Zeppelin Reloaded | €1,028,380 | Not stated | Super High | 96% |
| 90K Yeti GigaBlox | €900,000 | 90,000x | Super High | 95.5% |
| Aphrodite Goes Wild RushingWilds | €829,820 | 82,982x | Super High | 94.0%, 90.5% |
Euro figures and multipliers do not rank the same way, because the pages do not say which stake the euro figure is based on. Among the pages we read, 90K Yeti GigaBlox (90,000x) and Aphrodite Goes Wild RushingWilds (82,982x) show the largest multipliers. Other sites quote 102,838x for Cazino Zeppelin Reloaded; its official page shows €1,028,380 and no multiplier, so we do not repeat that figure as official.
For RTP, the widest range we found is Jokerizer (2016), listed as “88.8% to 98%”, so its top figure is the highest we saw. Raptor 2 lists 97% as its top version, and most flagship own-studio titles from 2015 to 2021 list 96% to 96.8%. A max win is a rare theoretical ceiling, not a target.
Vikings Go Series: Every Game, RTP and Release Date
Vikings Go is Yggdrasil’s longest-running slot series. We read each game’s official page on 17 October 2026. The max win column is the euro figure printed on the page, which does not state the stake it is based on; where the page also gives a multiplier we show it.
| Game | Released | RTP listed | Volatility | Max win (as printed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vikings Go Wild | 1 Aug 2015 | 96.3% | Low-Medium | €380,000 |
| Vikings Go Berzerk | 23 Nov 2016 | 96.1% | Medium-High | Not compared |
| Vikings Go To Hell | 24 May 2018 | 96.1% | High | €687,500 |
| Vikings Go Berzerk Reloaded | 30 Sep 2021 | 96% | Medium-High | €1,250,000 |
| Vikings Go To Valhalla | 28 Mar 2022 | 96% | High | €1,181,700 |
| Vikings Go To Egypt Wild Fight | 25 Jun 2024 | 94.0%, 90.5% | Medium | €546,920 (4,375.36x) |
| Vikings Go To Olympus WildFight RushingWilds | 24 Apr 2025 | 96.0%, 90.5% | Medium-High | €600,000 (6,000x) |
| Vikings Go to Vegas Wild Fight | 12 Jun 2025 | 94.0%, 90.5% | Medium | €546,920 (4,375.36x) |
| Vikings Go To Hollywood WildFight RushingWilds | 22 Sep 2026 | 90.5%, 92%, 94%, 96% | Medium-High | €750,000 (6,000x) |
The first five games each list one RTP of 96% or more. From Vikings Go To Egypt Wild Fight in 2024, the pages list 94.0% and 90.5%, and the 2026 Hollywood game lists four versions, down to 90.5%. If you like the series, check the version your casino runs before you pick which one to play.
New Yggdrasil Slot Games and Release Pace
Yggdrasil’s own studio released 20 games dated 2025 on its site, roughly one every two to three weeks, and 10 between January and mid-October 2026. Partner studios added about 126 titles dated 2025 and about 66 so far in 2026. The own-studio pace has slowed in 2026, while partner output fills the release calendar. These are the newest own-studio releases:
| Game | Released | RTP listed | Volatility | Max win (as printed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turbo Gold Deluxe GigaBlox | 1 Oct 2026 | 90.5%, 92%, 94%, 96% | High | €2,000,000 (10,000x) |
| Vikings Go To Hollywood WildFight RushingWilds | 22 Sep 2026 | 90.5%, 92%, 94%, 96% | Medium-High | €750,000 (6,000x) |

Yggdrasil Mobile Casino: Playing Yggdrasil Slots on a Phone
Yggdrasil does not run a casino of its own, so a “Yggdrasil mobile casino” is simply a licensed casino whose mobile site or app carries its games. Official game pages list the supported platforms as desktop, Apple and Android, and older pages also carry a Mobile field (“Optimised” or “Yes”) and a 16:9 game resolution.
We have not run our own device tests, and how a slot feels on a small screen also depends on the casino’s site or app. Try a demo on your phone first, and check the stake range in the game before you play for real money.
Yggdrasil Gaming RTP: Why One Slot Has Up to Four Versions
RTP (return to player) is the share of all stakes a slot is designed to pay back over a very large number of spins. Yggdrasil Gaming shows RTP on most of its game pages, and for newer games it lists every version. A recent page, for example, headlines “94.0% and more” and then lists “94.0%, 90.5%” in the game details.
The numbers behind its RTP versions are striking. Of the 575 titles in its database, 298 carry two or more RTP values (117 with two, 137 with three and 44 with four). The most common values are 94% (295 titles) and 90.5% (284 titles), followed by 96% (167). The first multi-RTP game in the database was created in October 2023, and since then multiple versions have become the norm.
The pages list the versions but do not say who picks one. Where a developer offers several versions, the casino generally chooses which one it runs, so the same Yggdrasil slot can return less at one site than at another. Be careful with the headline figure too: it is not always the highest. Turbo Gold Deluxe GigaBlox leads with 90.5% even though 96% is also listed.
| Game | Released | RTP versions listed | Volatility | Max win |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Raptor 2 | Jan 2026 | 97%, 96%, 94%, 90.5% | High | 9,493x |
| Turbo Gold Deluxe GigaBlox | Oct 2026 | 90.5% (headline), 92%, 94%, 96% | High | 10,000x |
| 3 Piggies of Bank | Sep 2026 | 96%, 94%, 92%, 90.5% | Low | 5,625x |
| Giga Zombies GigaBlox | May 2026 | 94% (headline), 96%, 90.5% | High | 6,260x |
| Goals of Olympus BoltLock | Jul 2026 | 94%, 92%, 90.5% | Medium-High | 5,800x |
| MexoMax 2 WildEnergy MultiMax | Sep 2025 | 96.0%, 94.0%, 90.5% | High | 10,000x |
| Aphrodite Goes Wild RushingWilds | Sep 2024 | 94.0%, 90.5% | Super High | 82,982x |
| 3 Gladiators vs Caesar | Oct 2024 | 94.0%, 90.5% | Medium | 2,930x |
| Castle Cash Megaways (Reel Play) | Apr 2025 | 96.1%, 94.0%, 90.5% | High | 10,158x |
| Titan Clash (HungryBear) | Jun 2025 | 94.0%, 90.5%, 86.0% | Not compared | Not compared |
| Vikings Go Berzerk (for contrast) | Nov 2016 | 96.1% only | Medium-High | Not compared |
What does the gap between versions cost in money? On £1,000 of total stakes, Raptor 2’s 97% version is designed to return about £970 on average and its 90.5% version about £905, a theoretical difference of £65. Put another way, 100 spins at £1 cost about £3 on average at 97%, but about £9.50 at 90.5%: more than three times as much. Any real session can land far above or below these averages, and the house keeps an edge on every version.
A few titles list unusual figures. Jokerizer (2016) is listed as “88.8% to 98%”. More importantly, 34 partner-studio titles, mostly added in 2024 and 2025, list an 86% version alongside higher ones: Titan Clash (2025), for example, shows 94.0%, 90.5% and 86.0%. Yggdrasil’s game pages, which you can filter by RTP on yggdrasilgaming.com/games, are the place to see every version before you play.
Do not trust a single RTP figure from a table or a casino's marketing text. Yggdrasil's official page for Max Elements GigaBlox lists 96.0% and 90.5%, and Vikings Go To Egypt Wild Fight lists 94.0% and 90.5%. A site that prints only the first number is showing you one version of the game.
— FAQsino Slots & Studio DeskHow to Check Which Yggdrasil Gaming RTP Version Your Casino Runs
-
Step 1
Look up the game on Yggdrasil's official game page and note every RTP version it lists, for example 97%, 96%, 94% and 90.5% for Raptor 2.
-
Step 2
Open the same game at your casino, but do not spin yet.
-
Step 3
Open the game menu and find the paytable, game rules or information screen. The layout varies from game to game.
-
Step 4
Find the stated return to player or theoretical RTP percentage in the rules.
-
Step 5
Compare it with the official list. If your casino shows the lowest version, check the same game at another licensed casino or ask support which version they run. If you cannot find any figure, ask support before you play.
Yggdrasil Gaming Demo: How to Try the Slots Safely
Every game review on FAQsino includes a free demo where the studio allows it, so the place to try Yggdrasil slots for free is our game reviews. A Yggdrasil Gaming demo uses play money: nothing you win has any cash value, and nothing can be withdrawn or moved to a real-money account.
- 18+ only. UK-licensed casinos must verify your age before letting you play free demos, so expect to register first if you try one at a casino.
- The RTP may differ. A demo may not run the version your casino uses. Check the real game’s rules as shown above.
- Demos do not predict results. A lucky streak in play money says nothing about your next real-money spin.
A demo is the best way to learn how DoubleMax multipliers or GigaBlox symbols behave before you stake anything. If free play starts to make you want to chase real-money wins, our Responsible Gambling page lists tools and free support.
Is Yggdrasil Gaming Safe? Reputation and Regulatory Record
The core licensing picture is solid: three Active UK accounts with no recorded regulatory actions, an MGA licence, and Swedish and Danish supplier licences that both appear on the regulators’ own lists. The company displays Malta’s Responsible Gaming Foundation on its site, says it contributes to GambleAware every year and has belonged to the Swedish trade body SPER since 2020.
We found one sanction in the sources we checked. In March 2024, trade press including iGaming Business reported that Sweden’s Spelinspektionen gave Yggdrasil a warning and a SEK 300,000 sanction fee (about €26,000) for supplying game software to an operator that had no Swedish licence.
According to those reports, the investigation began on 16 January 2024, and Yggdrasil said it fixed the issue on 23 January and put it down to a breach of contract with a retailer. The regulator chose a fee rather than revoking the licence. We could not find the decision on the regulator’s own site.
Restructuring, Leadership Changes and Finances
In October 2023 an official Yggdrasil release confirmed “a strategic restructuring, resulting in a necessary reduction of roles” and thanked departing senior leaders, without giving numbers. Turnover continued: trade press reported that chief product officer Mark McGinley left in April 2024 and CTO Maciej Smolarek stepped down in May 2024. In October 2024 iGaming Business, citing Reuters, reported that Cherry had tried to sell Yggdrasil before without receiving satisfactory offers.
Yggdrasil’s own revenue is not published. EEG reports it in a Game Development segment with Highlight Games, which earned €55.3 million in 2025, up from €49.7 million. EEG’s Q2 2026 report describes Yggdrasil as “in transition”, and its annual report names Yggdrasil as the business with the lowest goodwill headroom in the group. David Hopkins’ October 2026 appointment comes with a mandate to simplify how the company operates.
Awards Yggdrasil Lists
The homepage claims 15 industry awards, and the about page lists 14 of them by year. According to that page, they include Innovator of the Year in 2023 and 2020, RNG Casino Provider of the Year and Platform Supplier of the Year in 2022, Slot Provider of the Year in 2021, and older wins going back to a 2015 Software Rising Star.
Links beside several entries point to the International Gaming Awards and EGR, but we could not confirm the wins on the organisers’ sites. The page lists nothing after 2023.
Yggdrasil shows you every RTP version of its newer games. Your casino shows you only one. The number that counts is the one in the game rules where you play.
— FAQsino Slots & Studio DeskBest Yggdrasil Online Casinos: How to Choose Yggdrasil Casinos
Yggdrasil Gaming says it supplies more than 350 operators, so the logo alone tells you little. The operator holds your money, picks the RTP version and handles withdrawals. The best Yggdrasil online casinos are the ones that pass these checks:
- A licence where you live. In the UK that means the UKGC; in Sweden, Spelinspektionen; in Denmark, Spillemyndigheden. UK players are better protected on UKGC-licensed sites.
- The RTP version. Open two or three newer Yggdrasil slots and read the rules. A casino running the top version gives you more back over time than one running 90.5% or lower.
- Payout terms. Look for clear withdrawal limits, timescales and verification rules.
- Safer-gambling tools. Deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion should be easy to find.
- Bonus terms. Free spins are often tied to specific slots. Read the wagering rules before you accept.
Find Yggdrasil Casinos Near You
We do not hand-pick names. Every casino we have reviewed that carries the studio’s games appears in the “Casinos with Yggdrasil Gaming Games” section at the bottom of this page, ranked by FAQsino Trust Score and filtered to your location, so you only see Yggdrasil casinos relevant to where you are.
How to Recognise a Yggdrasil Slot
- Mechanic names in the title: GigaBlox, DoubleMax, MultiMax, WildEnergy, RushingWilds, OnlyWins or BoltLock tacked onto a game name are Yggdrasil signatures.
- Familiar series: Vikings Go, Valley of the Gods, Raptor and MexoMax keep returning as sequels.
- Partner names: Reel Play, Reflex Gaming, Jelly or Peter and Sons titles in a “Yggdrasil” lobby section usually come through YGG Masters.
- A buy feature: many recent titles are tagged Buy Bonus, where the market and casino allow it.
- Several RTPs: if the official page lists more than one RTP, it is most likely a late-2023-or-later release.
Yggdrasil Gaming vs Play'n GO, NetEnt and Games Global
How the Yggdrasil provider compares with other studios we review, using only what each publishes:
| Developer | Main focus | RTP on its own game pages? | Bonus Buy | Ownership |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Yggdrasil Gaming | Own slots plus partner studios | Yes on most pages; every version on newer games | Yes, 244 database titles tagged | EEG group (84%); Bridgepoint majority owner of EEG |
| Play'n GO | Slots, plus three table games | No; in the game only | No, public policy | Not published |
| NetEnt | Slots | Yes (e.g. Starburst 96.08%) | Not compared | Part of Evolution since 2020 |
| Games Global | Multi-studio slot network | Not compared | Not compared | Took over Microgaming's games business in 2022 |
The clearest contrast is with Play’n GO, which publishes no RTP on its site and rules out Bonus Buy; Yggdrasil does the opposite on both. The founder link runs to NetEnt, where Fredrik Elmqvist was chief executive before starting Yggdrasil, according to trade press. Its partner-studio model is closest to Games Global, which also distributes games from a network of studios. Browse all our slot studio reviews to compare more.
What We Could Not Verify
As of 17 October 2026 we could not confirm:
- Who holds the remaining 16% of Yggdrasil Gaming Sweden AB, or when and for how much Cherry first took a stake.
- Several licences on the regulators’ own registers: Romania, Belgium and Buenos Aires, plus the current status of Gibraltar RGL No. 094. These come from the developer’s page.
- Test laboratory names. The company names none publicly.
- Who chooses the RTP version, and how the in-game rules display it, from an official Yggdrasil statement.
- Why the database lists 575 titles against 450+ offered; retired titles are our best explanation, not the company’s.
- The Swedish decision document behind the 2024 fine; our account relies on trade press.
- Award wins on the organisers’ own sites.
- Claims on some third-party sites that another company bought Yggdrasil. We found no support for them.
Our Verdict on Yggdrasil Gaming
Yggdrasil Gaming has earned its place: Vikings Go Berzerk, Valley of the Gods and Raptor DoubleMax still hold up, its GEMs give its games a recognisable identity, and its UK, Maltese, Swedish, Danish and Isle of Man licences check out on the regulators’ registers. It is also refreshingly open about RTP, printing every version on its newer game pages.
That openness reveals the weak spot. Most newer Yggdrasil slots come in versions as low as 90.5%, some partner titles go to 86%, and most of the catalogue now comes from partner studios. Learn the features in a demo, compare Yggdrasil casinos on the RTP version they run, and set a deposit limit before you stake real money.
