Evolution Gaming is the live casino company behind Lightning Roulette, Crazy Time and MONOPOLY Live. Its Evolution Gaming live casino tables are streamed from real studios to more than 870 operators. Its legal name today is Evolution AB (publ), a Swedish company listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, and since 2020 it has branded itself simply as “Evolution”. Evolution Gaming is the name it traded under until then, and the one most players still search for, so this review uses both.
Evolution doesn’t run a casino. It is a B2B software provider: it builds and streams the games, and licensed online casinos offer them to you. This Evolution Gaming review covers its studios and best live games, what it does and doesn’t publish about RTP, its brands and licences, its regulatory record, the Evolution Gaming share price and investor facts, and how to choose between Evolution Gaming casinos. We checked the facts against Evolution’s reports, official game pages and regulator records on 17 October 2026.
Short answer: Evolution says its Dream Catcher game created the live game show category in 2017, and with 2025 net revenue of €2.07 billion it is one of the largest suppliers in online gambling. Its licences page lists 32 jurisdictions, including the UK and Malta. The weak spots: most of its public game pages show no RTP, and in 2026 it made a £4.75 million payment to settle a UK Gambling Commission review after its games reached unlicensed websites.

Evolution Gaming at a glance (verified 17 October 2026)
What Is Evolution Gaming?
Evolution started in 2006 with a single live studio in Riga, Latvia. It is commonly credited to Jens von Bahr and Fredrik Österberg, whose joint company Österbahr Ventures still held 10.92% of the shares in September 2026. Martin Carlesund is chief executive.
The listed parent, Evolution AB (publ), was formed in December 2014 and has its headquarters at Hamngatan 11 in Stockholm. The old name lives on in its subsidiaries: its Malta Gaming Authority licence, for example, is held by Evolution Gaming Malta Limited. Production happens in its studios, the three main ones being in Riga, Malta and Tbilisi, Georgia, which is the largest.
Evolution sells to casinos, not to you. In its own words it “develops, produces, markets and licenses” B2B online casino solutions to operators, and its annual report says the operators handle all monetary transactions. Your account, deposits and withdrawals all sit with the casino. Live games made up about 86% of 2025 net revenue (€1,772.6 million of €2,066.5 million); RNG games, mostly from its slot brands, made up the rest.

Evolution Gaming Live Casino: Studios, Tables and Presenters
An Evolution Gaming live casino table is a real table in a real studio, filmed and streamed to the casino you play at. At the end of 2025 Evolution ran 24 studios with about 2,000 live tables, a number it says has doubled over five years, and by mid-2026 around 22,900 people worked across its operations.
The studios are in Latvia, Malta, Georgia, Lithuania, Romania, Czechia, Armenia, Spain and Bulgaria, plus Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, the Philippines, British Columbia in Canada and four US states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, Connecticut and New Jersey. A second Michigan studio, in Grand Rapids, and a studio bought in Argentina were added in 2026.
What that means when you sit down at a table:
- Your language: tables are hosted in 24 languages, and the game screens are translated into 47.
- Classic tables: blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker, sic bo and craps, dealt by a presenter in real time.
- Game shows: wheel, ball and board-game formats with a host, a studio set and bonus rounds, from Dream Catcher (2017) to Disco Balls (2026).
- Dual Play tables: tables built inside land-based casinos in the UK, Malta, Romania and the US.

Live or First Person: Two Ways to Play Evolution Gaming Live Casino Games
Most Evolution games come in two versions. First Person games are RNG versions of the live tables, and Evolution says they have the same studios, rules and paytables as the live games.
| Aspect | Live (studio) | First Person |
|---|---|---|
| How results are decided | Real presenter and real equipment in a studio | Random number generator, with 3D animation |
| Speed | Set by the table and presenter | You can change the game speed |
| Rules and paytables | Per game | Same as the live games, per Evolution |
| Examples | Lightning Roulette, Crazy Time | First Person Lightning Roulette, Mega Ball, Dream Catcher, Craps |
Live games rarely come with a demo, but where Evolution allows free play, you can try its First Person and other RNG games in demo mode in our game reviews, subject to jurisdiction. Demos use play money, have no cash value and never pay out.
How to Recognise an Evolution Gaming Live Casino Game
Casino lobbies don’t always say who made a live game. These clues help:
- The names: Lightning, XXXtreme, Crazy, Infinite and First Person run through Evolution’s catalogue.
- MONOPOLY branding on live games: Evolution has held an exclusive Hasbro partnership since July 2025.
- Lightning multipliers: random multipliers struck onto numbers, cards or hands, on roulette, blackjack, baccarat, sic bo and dice.
- The help screen: at regulated casinos the game rules usually name the supplier.
Best Evolution Gaming Games
There is no official ranking of the best Evolution Gaming games, so we picked the titles Evolution itself promotes in its reports and anniversary material, plus the ones people most often ask about. Evolution Gaming games launch at a pace of more than 100 a year across the group, so this is a starting point, not the full list. The “What Evolution publishes” column shows only what we found on Evolution’s own pages.
| Game | Type | Launched | What Evolution publishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lightning Roulette | Live roulette | 2018 | 1–5 Lucky Numbers at 50x–500x; unstruck straight-up pays 29:1; no RTP shown |
| XXXtreme Lightning Roulette | Live roulette | 2022 | Wins up to 2,000x; no RTP shown |
| Crazy Time | Game show | July 2020 | RTP 96.08%; up to 20,000x in the Crazy Time bonus |
| MONOPOLY Live | Game show | 2019 | 54-segment wheel with 2 ROLLS and 4 ROLLS bonus; no RTP shown |
| Deal or No Deal Live | Game show | 2019 (per Evolution's timeline) | Slot-style qualifying phases, then a live bonus game (official page offline in October 2026); no RTP found |

| Mega Ball | Bingo-style game show | 2020 | 20 of 51 balls drawn; Mega Ball multiplier 5x–100x; no RTP shown |

Lightning Roulette Evolution Gaming: Multipliers and the 29:1 Catch
Evolution Gaming Lightning Roulette launched in 2018 and is still the game most people think of first. It looks like normal roulette until the lightning strikes: each round, one to five Lucky Numbers are hit and given multipliers between 50x and 500x, and a straight-up bet on a Lucky Number gets that multiplied payout.
The catch is in the small print. A straight-up win on a number that wasn’t struck pays 29:1, not the 35:1 you’d get at a standard roulette table. That is how the multipliers are paid for.
XXXtreme Lightning Roulette (2022) pushes the top win to 2,000x, and First Person Lightning Roulette is the RNG version. Evolution’s Lightning Roulette page shows no RTP, and the figures quoted on third-party sites don’t agree with each other, so check the help screen at your casino. In 2024 Evolution went to court claiming Light & Wonder’s roulette games misused its Lightning Roulette technology; more on that in the reputation section below.
Crazy Time Evolution Gaming: Bonus Games, RTP and Max Win
Crazy Time, Evolution Gaming’s best-known game show, was released in July 2020. It is a large money wheel with a Top Slot that spins alongside it and assigns random multipliers to bet spots. You bet on the numbers 1, 2, 5 or 10, or on one of four bonus games: Cash Hunt, Pachinko, Coin Flip and Crazy Time. Trade press reported at launch that it was the most expensive game Evolution had produced to that point.
Of the flagship pages we checked, Crazy Time is the only one that publishes its RTP on the official Crazy Time page: 96.08%. The same page gives a maximum multiplier of 20,000x in the Crazy Time bonus game and a 10,000x cap in Pachinko. Third-party sites list different returns for different bet spots, so check the help screen at your casino for the figure that applies to your bet.
Crazy Time first rolled out in the US in 2023, then went live in Pennsylvania and Michigan in 2024 and in Connecticut in 2025, according to Evolution’s timeline.
MONOPOLY Live Evolution Gaming: Wheel, Rolls and Hasbro
MONOPOLY Live (2019) is a 54-segment money wheel: 48 number segments (1, 2, 5 and 10), two CHANCE segments, three 2 ROLLS segments and one 4 ROLLS segment. CHANCE gives you a cash prize or a multiplier for the next spin. Land on 2 ROLLS or 4 ROLLS with a bet on that segment, and MR. MONOPOLY walks a 3D board collecting prizes for at least two or four dice rolls; doubles earn an extra roll, except when they’re used to get out of Jail.
Evolution signed an exclusive, multi-year partnership with Hasbro on 1 July 2025 and has since launched MONOPOLY Roulette (June 2026) and MONOPOLY Roll ’em (July 2026, multipliers up to 300x). MONOPOLY Live itself launched in four US states in 2026, according to Evolution’s Q2 2026 report. The official page shows no RTP or maximum win.
Deal or No Deal Live Evolution Gaming: Slot Phases and a Live Bonus
Deal or No Deal Live is Evolution Gaming’s take on the TV format, and it works in stages. You first play slot-style qualifying phases; only players who qualify go through to the live bonus game hosted in the studio. Evolution’s timeline lists it under 2019, alongside MONOPOLY Live, as part of the expansion of its game show range.
First Person Deal or No Deal is the RNG version. Its official page was offline when we checked in October 2026, and we found no RTP for either version, so check the help screen before you play.
Gonzo's Treasure Hunt (Evolution Gaming)
Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt was Evolution’s first live game built on NetEnt intellectual property, according to trade coverage of its 2021 launch. Players pick stones on a wall to uncover prizes, with Gonzo, the explorer from NetEnt’s Gonzo’s Quest slot, as the on-screen character, and the game launched with a VR mode.
We couldn’t find Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt on Evolution’s games site in October 2026, so availability may vary from casino to casino. If you find it in a lobby, read the help screen for the current rules and RTP.
Funky Time, Dream Catcher and Lightning Storm
Funky Time (2023) is built on a digital wheel whose letter segments pay 25:1 by default. Each round the wheel adds random multipliers to random segments, and four bonus segments (BAR, STAYIN’ ALIVE, DISCO and VIP DISCO) trigger bonus games for players who bet on them. In Stayin’ Alive, a 20-level ladder runs from 5x up to 10,000x.
Dream Catcher, the wheel that started the genre, has 54 segments: 52 numbered (1, 2, 5, 10, 20 or 40), plus a silver 2x and a gold 7x multiplier. A winning bet pays its number, so a bet on 10 pays 10 to 1. Land on a multiplier and all bets stay in place while the wheel spins again with the multiplier applied, and multipliers can stack. The page mentions multiplied payouts “up to 20,000x”.
Lightning Storm (2024) spins a 39-segment wheel that generates 20 Bonus symbols per round, some with 2x–50x multipliers, and leads to five bonus games. Four of them cap at 10,000x and the Lightning Storm Bonus at 20,000x, according to Evolution’s page. None of the three pages shows an RTP.
Crazy Pachinko Evolution Gaming: Slot Meets Live Bonus
Crazy Pachinko, Evolution Gaming’s 2023 hybrid, starts on a slot, where three scatter symbols in one spin qualify you for the live Pachinko bonus. Sticky scatters move down a row each spin, and scatters can carry multipliers of up to 10x.
Qualify, and a Top-Up phase lets you boost the multipliers collected in 16 sectors at the bottom of the screen. Then the presenter drops a puck down the Pachinko wall, where multipliers run from 10x to 200x; hit the DOUBLE zone and the wall’s multipliers increase before the puck drops again. XXXtreme Spin and Feature Buy modes exist where the casino offers them. No RTP is published.
Evolution Gaming Blackjack
Evolution Gaming blackjack goes well beyond one table type. Its live blackjack page lists classic seven-seat tables alongside more than a dozen variants, including:
- Infinite Blackjack, Infinite Free Bet Blackjack and Infinite Bet Stacker Blackjack
- Lightning Blackjack, where a winning hand earns a 2x–25x multiplier for your next round, in exchange for a Lightning fee equal to 100% of each initial bet
- Speed Blackjack (2020) and Bet Stacker Blackjack (2025)
- Free Bet Blackjack, Power Blackjack, Always 6 Blackjack and Blackjack Party
- VIP Blackjack and Salon Privé Blackjack for higher stakes
The page publishes no RTP figures. In blackjack the return also depends on your decisions, so the same table can pay back less if you play poorly. First Person Blackjack and First Person Lightning Blackjack are the RNG versions.
Live Craps Evolution Gaming: Real Dice, Many Bets
Live Craps from Evolution Gaming launched in 2020, billed by Evolution as the world’s first online live craps game, and went live in Michigan in 2023. A presenter rolls real dice in the studio while you place bets on screen. First Person Craps is the RNG version.
Craps bets carry very different house edges, and Evolution’s page publishes neither an RTP nor a house edge. Read the payout table in the help screen before trying anything beyond the basic bets.
Mega Ball
Mega Ball (2020) is bingo as a game show. You buy cards (Evolution’s page mentions bundles of 1, 10, 25 or 100), then 20 balls out of 51 are drawn and completed lines pay out. One or two Mega Balls follow, each with a multiplier between 5x and 100x: if a Mega Ball completes a line on your card, that card’s payout is multiplied. No RTP is published.
Baccarat, Poker and More Evolution Gaming Live Casino Games
Evolution’s games site also lists baccarat, poker and roulette tables well beyond the headline game shows. The figures below are the ones Evolution publishes on those pages; none of them shows an RTP.
| Game | Category | What Evolution publishes |
|---|---|---|
| Lightning Baccarat | Baccarat | 1–5 Lightning Cards per round at 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 8x; 20% Lightning fee added to your total bet |
| Golden Wealth Baccarat | Baccarat | Five Golden Cards per round at 2x, 3x, 5x or 8x; 20% Golden card fee |
| No Commission Baccarat | Baccarat | Banker win with 6 pays 0.5:1; Super 6 side bet pays 15:1 |
| Speed Baccarat | Baccarat | Rounds completed in 27 seconds |
| Dragon Tiger | Two-card game | Tie pays 11:1; Suited Tie pays 50:1 |
| Bac Bo | Dice | Tie bet pays up to 88:1 |
| Casino Hold'em | Poker vs dealer | Payouts up to 100 to 1; optional Jumbo 7 progressive jackpot side bet |
| Caribbean Stud Poker | Poker vs dealer | Optional progressive jackpot side bet, won with a Royal Flush |
| Three Card Poker | Poker vs dealer | Pair Plus and Six Card Bonus bets pay up to 1000 to 1 |
| Double Ball Roulette | Roulette | Two balls, two winning numbers per spin; payouts up to 1,300 to 1 |
| Speed Roulette | Roulette | 25 seconds from spin to spin |
Evolution’s live poker tables include progressive jackpot side bets: the Jumbo 7 Jackpot on Casino Hold’em, whose top prize Evolution describes as uncapped, the jackpot on Caribbean Stud Poker and the First Five Jackpot on Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker. These are optional extra bets, separate from the main game. Note the fees too: Lightning Baccarat charges 20%, Lightning Blackjack 100%. Bigger potential multipliers cost more, so check what you’re paying for.
| If you want… | Try | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Classic roulette with a twist | Lightning Roulette | 50x–500x on Lucky Numbers, but 29:1 on other straight-up wins |
| The highest published multipliers | Crazy Time, Lightning Storm or Funky Time | Up to 20,000x in the Crazy Time and Lightning Storm bonuses and 10,000x in Funky Time's Stayin' Alive, per Evolution's pages |
| A board-game theme | MONOPOLY Live | 3D board bonus with dice rolls |
| A slot with a live finale | Crazy Pachinko or Deal or No Deal Live | Qualify on the reels, then play the live bonus |
| Bingo-style rounds | Mega Ball | Many cards, quick draws, multiplier balls |
| A quiet card game with no decisions | Baccarat or Speed Baccarat | Simple bets; Speed Baccarat rounds last 27 seconds |
| Strategy and control | Classic live blackjack or Free Bet Blackjack | Your decisions affect the return |
| No waiting for others | First Person games | RNG versions you can speed up |
| Something different | Live Craps | Real dice, many bet types |
Game shows run fast and keep going whether you’re winning or not. Set a budget and a time limit before you start, and see our Responsible Gambling guide if play stops feeling like fun. All Evolution games are for adults (18+) only.
Evolution Gaming RTP: What Is Published and What Isn't
Most slot studios publish an RTP for every game. Evolution’s public games site mostly doesn’t. Of the pages we checked in October 2026, only Crazy Time showed a figure (96.08%). The pages for Lightning Roulette, MONOPOLY Live, Funky Time, Crazy Pachinko, Mega Ball, Live Craps, baccarat, poker and blackjack showed none.
That doesn’t mean the number is hidden at your casino: Evolution’s games have a help screen, and regulated casinos are expected to give you the game rules and return information. But you can’t check a figure in advance on Evolution’s own site, and third-party RTP tables for live games often contradict each other. We don’t repeat those numbers here.
Three things specific to Evolution’s games are worth knowing:
- Bet spots differ. In wheel games each bet spot has its own odds and payout, so the return on “1” can differ from the return on a bonus spot. Read the figure for the bet you’re making.
- Multipliers come at a cost. Lightning Roulette pays 29:1 rather than 35:1 on straight-up numbers that aren’t struck, and the Lightning baccarat and blackjack tables charge fees of 20% and 100%.
- Blackjack and craps depend on you. Your decisions change the return in blackjack, and different craps bets carry very different house edges.
How to Check the RTP of an Evolution Gaming Live Game
-
Step 1
Open the game at a casino licensed where you live.
-
Step 2
Find the help or information button in the game menu, usually a question mark or an "i" icon.
-
Step 3
Open the section on return to player or payouts. The title varies from game to game.
-
Step 4
Note the figure for the exact bet you plan to make, because wheel games and side bets often list several.
-
Step 5
If you can't find a figure, ask the casino's support team, or choose a game where the return is shown.
Evolution Gaming Software and Group Brands
Evolution Gaming software today means far more than live tables. Since 2018 Evolution has bought a string of studios, and its brands page now lists eight brands. Many of the slots that casinos label as “Evolution games” actually come from these group studios, which is why we review the biggest of them separately.
| Brand | Joined Evolution | What it makes |
|---|---|---|
| Evolution | Founded 2006 | Live casino, game shows and First Person RNG games |
| Ezugi | Acquired 2018 | Live casino; relaunched as Evolution's second US live brand in 2025 |
| NetEnt | Acquired 2020 (founded 1996) | Slots such as Starburst and Gonzo's Quest |
| Red Tiger | Came with NetEnt in 2020 (founded 2014) | Slots; NetEnt had bought Red Tiger in 2019 |
| Big Time Gaming | Deal agreed 2021 (founded 2011) | Slots, including Megaways titles |
| Nolimit City | Acquired 2022 (founded 2014) | Slots such as San Quentin xWays |
| DigiWheel | Acquired 2021 (launched 2019) | Smaller brand listed on Evolution's brands page |
| Sneaky Slots | Launched 2025 | In-house slot brand |
| Spinning Whale | Announced 29 September 2026 | US-focused slot brand |
NetEnt’s classics, including Starburst and Gonzo’s Quest, now sit on Evolution’s own games site; read our NetEnt review for the full story of that studio. Evolution also owns smaller businesses such as Livespins, a social streaming service, and Arcadia Gaming Solutions, which offers physical arcade machines played remotely. A planned takeover of the US table-game company Galaxy Gaming, agreed in 2024, was ended by Evolution on 21 July 2026; Evolution owes Galaxy a termination fee of about $5.23 million.
Evolution Gaming Mobile Casino Play
Most Evolution play now happens on phones. Mobile made up 73% of Evolution’s revenue in 2025, up from 71% in 2024. In the first quarter of 2026, 75% of the gaming revenue operators earned through its platform came from mobile. Evolution was early here too: it launched HTML5-based mobile live gaming for the iPad in 2012.
There is no Evolution app to download. You play Evolution Gaming mobile games inside your casino’s app or mobile site, with the same tables as on desktop. Tips for an Evolution Gaming mobile casino session:
- Use a strong connection. Live video needs steady Wi-Fi or mobile data; the help screen explains what happens if you disconnect mid-round.
- Check your stake before you tap. Chip buttons are small, and game shows give you only seconds to bet.
- Set limits first. Set a deposit limit and reality checks at the casino before you play.
Evolution Gaming Licences and Regulators
Evolution Gaming’s licences page lists 32 jurisdictions for the Evolution brand: 20 countries and territories, five Canadian provinces or regions and seven US states. Its UK licence (Gambling Commission account 41655) is held by Evolution’s Malta holding company, and its MGA licence by Evolution Gaming Malta Limited. These are the main ones, as listed by Evolution:
| Jurisdiction | Regulator | Licence (as listed by Evolution) |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | UK Gambling Commission | Combined Remote Operating Licence (account 41655) |
| Malta | Malta Gaming Authority | Critical Gaming Supply, B2B Type 1 |
| Sweden | Spelinspektionen (Swedish Gambling Authority) | Gaming Software Licence |
| Denmark | Spillemyndigheden | Supplier Licence |
| Spain | DGOJ | General Licence for Other Games and Singular Licence for Slots |
| Gibraltar | Gibraltar Gambling Division | B2B Gaming Operator's Licence (RNG and Live) |
| Isle of Man | Gambling Supervision Commission | B2B OGRA Software Provision |
| Ontario | AGCO | Certificate of Registration (supplier) |
| New Jersey | Division of Gaming Enforcement | Casino Service Industry Enterprise |
| Pennsylvania | Gaming Control Board | Interactive Gaming Manufacturer |
| Michigan | Gaming Control Board | Internet Gaming Supplier |
| Curaçao | Antillephone N.V., a former master-licence holder, not the regulator | Listed as a gaming licence; we found no Evolution entity on the Curaçao Gaming Authority register (14 October 2026) |
The list continues with Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Latvia, Romania, South Africa (Western Cape), Tanzania, the Bahamas, Buenos Aires City, Panama and Peru, plus the Canadian and US entries below. Read our reviews of the UK Gambling Commission, the Malta Gaming Authority, the Swedish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden, Spain’s DGOJ, the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner and the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission to see what each one requires. The full list is on Evolution’s licences page.
We found no German or French licence on Evolution’s list, and no Estonian one. Italy is a historic footnote: Evolution’s timeline says it was the first online live casino provider approved in Italy, in 2011, but Italy isn’t on the current list. Group brands hold their own licences too; Nolimit City, for example, lists Malta, the UK, Denmark and Sweden.
On certification, Evolution was the first European company to receive eCOGRA’s Certified Live Dealer Seal (2010), and its annual report states it holds ISO/IEC 27001:2022 information-security certification. For its First Person RNG games, Evolution says the random number generators are validated and certified by independent testing agencies, naming GLI and eCOGRA; we found no published certificate list, so treat this as the company’s statement.
Where Evolution Gaming Operates in the US and Canada
According to Evolution’s licences page, it holds licences, registrations or exemptions in seven US states (Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia) and in Canada in Alberta, British Columbia, Atlantic Canada (through Atlantic Lotteries), Ontario and Quebec. Its US live studios are in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Connecticut and New Jersey, according to its Annual Report 2025. Which tables you see depends on your state or province and on each casino.
Evolution Gaming Review: Fines, Investigations and Lawsuits
A supplier this size attracts scrutiny. Here is the record as of 17 October 2026, from regulator documents and Evolution’s own filings. Allegations are described as allegations.
UK Gambling Commission Settlement (2026)
In December 2024 the UK Gambling Commission opened a review of the operating licence held by Evolution Malta Holding Limited. It ended in a regulatory settlement that Evolution announced on 15 July 2026: a payment of £4,750,000 in lieu of a financial penalty, plus the Commission’s costs and a public statement. The Commission’s register records the decision on 23 July 2026.
According to the Commission’s public statement, five Evolution games appeared on six websites run by two operators that had no UK licence but were accessible to British consumers, with large volumes of UK visits between December 2023 and November 2024. It found failings in Evolution’s controls under licence conditions 12.1.1 and 12.1.2, which set anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing obligations. Evolution geo-blocked the games for UK users after the Commission told it about them in December 2024.
Evolution’s position is that the two operators actively evaded its restrictions, that it ended both relationships as soon as it found out, and that its review found no broader pattern of unlicensed UK access. Since 2025 it has also taken what it calls proactive “ring-fencing” measures in Europe to keep its content away from unlicensed operators, which it says weighed on its European revenue.
New Jersey Investigation (Closed in 2024)
In November 2021 New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) received a report, from a firm not named at the time, alleging misconduct by Evolution; press coverage said it claimed Evolution games could be reached in sanctioned or prohibited markets. Evolution disputed it.
On 20 February 2024 Evolution announced that the DGE had closed its investigation with no further action, having found no evidence that Evolution sanctioned, promoted, permitted or otherwise materially benefited from content offered in a prohibited jurisdiction. This is Evolution’s account; we did not find a separate DGE statement.
The Defamation Case and the Lightning Roulette Dispute
- Defamation suit (New Jersey, ongoing): in December 2021 Evolution sued the law firm Calcagni & Kanefsky over the 2021 report. Evolution’s annual report says the parties behind the report are now known to be the investigations firm Black Cube and Evolution’s competitor Playtech.
- Latest steps in that case: in April 2026 Evolution asked to add Playtech as a defendant; in June 2026 the judge denied that request without prejudice, a procedural decision rather than a ruling on the merits. Playtech has called the claims baseless and stands by the report, according to trade press. Evolution expects the case to run at least through 2026.
- Light & Wonder (Nevada, Lightning Roulette): a separate case. In 2024 Evolution sued Light & Wonder, claiming some of its live roulette games infringe or misuse Evolution’s Lightning Roulette technology. In September 2025 the court sent the trade-secret claims to arbitration, while the patent claims stayed in court. We found no final outcome.
- US securities class action: a shareholder suit filed in Pennsylvania in 2024 was dismissed with prejudice in September 2025 and concluded in October 2025, according to Evolution’s annual report.
Smaller US Fines
- Michigan (2026): a $40,000 fine from the Michigan Gaming Control Board after a presenter manually entered an incorrect outcome in one Lightning Dice game in March 2025, producing $44,910 in wins for two players.
- New Jersey (2025): a $12,000 civil penalty from the DGE for various dealer error violations.
- Pennsylvania (2024): reported fines of $7,500 over an intruder who entered the Philadelphia studio in January 2023, and $25,000 for failing to keep surveillance video during a power outage.
In the sources we checked, the documented integrity problems at Evolution’s tables involve presenter or staff errors or misconduct at specific tables, not flaws in the game software.
Evolution's licences, stock-market listing and audited reports give it a strong base of trust. The UK settlement shows where the weak point lies: games reaching players through operators who should never have had them.
Evolution Gaming share price: key investor facts

In the first half of 2026 net revenues were €1,030.8 million, down 1.4%, at an EBITDA margin of 65.6%.
Dividends. Evolution’s published policy, adopted at its 2015 listing, is to distribute at least 50% of net profit each year, and its 2024 capital allocation framework says the Board intends to return all excess cash, generally through share buybacks. For 2025 the Board proposed no dividend, saying a cash dividend was not currently the best way to create long-term value for shareholders, and none was paid. The dividend for 2024 was €2.80 per share.
Buyback. On 18 May 2026 the Board resolved on a share buyback of up to €2 billion, running until the 2027 AGM and capped at 19,922,661 shares, backed by a new €300 million revolving credit facility.
Ownership. Evolution’s shareholder list shows Candle Lake Ltd, owned by the investor Kenneth Dart, as the largest holder with 30.07% (holdings as of September 2026), followed by the founders’ Österbahr Ventures with 10.92%. Candle Lake’s share purchases in July 2026 triggered a mandatory cash offer; when it closed in September 2026, only about 0.06% of the shares had been tendered.

Evolution Gaming Casinos: How to Choose One
There is no official Evolution Gaming casino list, and no Evolution Gaming online casino as such. Evolution supplies more than 870 operators (Q2 2026 report), so finding an Evolution Gaming casino is easy; choosing a good one takes a few checks. Evolution Gaming live casino tables look much the same everywhere, so judge the casino, not the game.
Five Checks Before You Join Evolution Gaming Casinos
- Licence: check the casino on the regulator’s register for your country, not just the logo in the footer.
- Return information: open a game’s help screen and confirm the RTP and payout table are shown.
- Table limits: make sure the minimum and maximum bets suit your budget.
- Payouts: read the withdrawal times, fees and verification rules before you deposit.
- Safer-gambling tools: look for deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion.
Our section at the bottom of this page, Casinos with Evolution Gaming Games, does much of this for you. It lists the casinos we have reviewed that carry Evolution games, ranked by FAQsino Trust Score and adjusted to the country you’re visiting from. We don’t hand-pick “best Evolution Gaming casinos”, because the right casino depends on where you live and what you need.
Demos and Free Play at an Evolution Gaming Online Casino
Live dealer games are played for real money in real time, so they rarely come with a free demo. Where a demo exists, such as for First Person and other RNG games, you can try it in our game reviews where the studio allows it. It uses play money with no cash value and can’t pay out, and UK-licensed casinos must verify your age before you can play free demos.
Evolution Gaming vs NetEnt and Pragmatic Play
We’re publishing reviews of five studios together. NetEnt is part of the Evolution group, and Pragmatic Play also runs a live casino range, which makes it the closest comparison:
| Aspect | Evolution | NetEnt | Pragmatic Play |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main focus | Live casino and game shows | Slots | Slots, plus a live casino range |
| Link to Evolution | Parent company | Owned by Evolution since 2020 | Not part of the Evolution group |
| Example titles | Lightning Roulette, Crazy Time | Starburst, Gonzo's Quest | Mega Wheel, Mega Roulette (live) |
For the detail, read our NetEnt and Pragmatic Play reviews. The other studios in this batch are Play’n GO and Games Global, and our Game Developers hub covers the rest.
What We Could Not Verify
We only publish what we could check. These points stayed open on 17 October 2026:
- RTPs for most live games. Evolution’s pages show no figure except for Crazy Time, and third-party figures conflict.
- Catalogue size. Evolution doesn’t publish a total. We counted more than 75 live and First Person titles on its games site.
- Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt. Its current status: we found no page for it on Evolution’s games site.
- Market share. We found no independent figure for Evolution’s share of live casino.
- Recent awards. Evolution’s timeline records its 12th straight EGR B2B Live Casino Supplier award in 2021; we couldn’t confirm later awards from an official source.
- Studio count after 2026 openings. The last published figure is 24 at the end of 2025.
Our Evolution Gaming Review Verdict
Evolution Gaming earned its reputation. It says it created the live game show genre, its Evolution Gaming live casino flagships are still the ones others are measured against, and it streams about 2,000 tables from 24 studios to more than 870 operators. A stock-market listing, audited reports and licences from the UK, Malta and dozens of other regulators give it more public accountability than most suppliers.
The weak points are real, though. Most of its game pages publish no RTP, the Lightning games trim standard payouts to fund their multipliers, and the 2026 UK settlement showed its controls failing to stop its games reaching unlicensed sites.
For players, the advice is simple: enjoy the games, but check the RTP in the help screen, play only at licensed Evolution Gaming casinos, and set your limits before the wheel starts spinning.
