Pragmatic Play is the studio behind Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza and Big Bass Bonanza, three of the best-known slot series of recent years. It is a B2B supplier headquartered in Gibraltar: it makes the games, and licensed casinos offer them to you. Beyond slots it runs live casino studios, bingo, virtual sports, crash and arcade games, and a studio-funded prize network called Drops & Wins.
This review covers who owns the company, its biggest Pragmatic Play slots with RTP and max win checked against official sources, how the free demos work, what the published RTP does and doesn’t tell you, why bonus buy varies by country, its licences and its recent record. Facts come from pragmaticplay.com and its press releases, the UK Gambling Commission register, the Danish and Swedish regulators’ lists, GLI and the game info inside Pragmatic’s official demos, all checked on 17 October 2026.
Short answer: this is a licensed, well-documented studio, with two UK Gambling Commission accounts, Gibraltar, Malta, Danish and Swedish approvals, and an RTP published on its official game pages. Its weak spots are undisclosed shareholders, no official word on lower RTP settings, and flagship games built around big, rare wins. Play the demo first, then check the RTP in the game rules at your casino.
Pragmatic Play at a glance (checked 17 October 2026)
Who Is Pragmatic Play?
Pragmatic Play describes itself as a B2B provider, not a gambling operator. You never hold an account with it: you play its games at casinos, which connect the whole portfolio through a single API. Its About page says the company is led by CEO Julian Jarvis from its Gibraltar headquarters, offers games on mobile and desktop in 33 languages and “all currencies”, and is certified or licensed in over 30 jurisdictions, a figure it doesn’t break down.
Some of its operations are run by ARRISE, a service company that Pragmatic’s own press releases describe as “powering Pragmatic Play”; the Bogotá live studio, for example, is “delivered and operated by ARRISE”. The two names also meet on the official records: one of the group’s UK licences is held by Arrise Solutions (Malta) Limited, and the GLI certificate for its random number generator is issued to Arrise Solutions Limited, operating as Pragmatic Play.
The official site lists these product lines:
- Slots: “over 500 games”, with up to eight new titles a month and more than 100 network slots launched in 2025, according to the company.
- Live casino: roulette, blackjack, baccarat and game shows from studios in Bucharest, Serbia and Bogotá.
- Bingo and virtual sports: both covered by its UK licences.
- Crash, arcade and other RNG games: including the crash games Spaceman and High Flyer, the arcade games Plinko+ (2025) and Chicken+ (2026), scratchcards such as 7 Piggies Scratchcard, and RNG blackjack, baccarat and roulette.
- Sportsbook and platform: Pragmatic Play Sports, plus a sister player-account platform, Pragmatic Solutions.
Who Owns Pragmatic Play?
The answer to “who owns Pragmatic Play” comes from the company’s About page: it is “owned by a private group of investors led by Veridian (Gibraltar) Limited”, and every page footer calls it “a Veridian (Gibraltar) Limited investment”.
Veridian describes itself as an investment, management and development company based in Gibraltar, whose central investment is the Pragmatic Play group of companies, headed by Tamaris (Gibraltar) Limited. Veridian’s chairman, founder and CEO is Julian Jarvis, who is also Pragmatic Play’s CEO and co-founder.
What isn’t public is who the individual investors are. The company is privately held and unlisted, and neither it nor Veridian discloses its shareholders. Other ownership claims circulate online; we could not verify any of them. One clarification: Entain, owner of Ladbrokes and Coral, is a customer, not an owner. In November 2025 it secured exclusive bookmaker rights to the Big Bass series for more than 2,700 Ladbrokes and Coral shops in the UK.
When Was Pragmatic Play Founded? A Timeline
The company publishes no founding date. Its site footer starts at 2015, but outside accounts of how the business began disagree, so we treat 2015 as the start of the brand rather than a confirmed founding year. The milestones below come from Pragmatic’s press releases, the regulator registers and named trade reports.

Pragmatic Play Slots: The Games That Built the Brand
Pragmatic Play slots are built on a handful of mechanics that the studio repeats and refines. Its biggest hits pay for 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on a six-reel grid, clear winning symbols with tumbles and drop multiplier symbols whose values are added together. Others use classic paylines with sticky wilds, money symbols or respin features.
The table shows the RTP from each game’s official page at pragmaticplay.com, the maximum win shown in the official demo’s game info where the demo returns one, and SlotCatalog’s volatility rating. Release dates come from Pragmatic’s launch releases unless marked otherwise.
| Game | Released | RTP (official page) | Max win (demo) | Volatility (SlotCatalog rating) | Signature feature |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gates of Olympus | Feb 2021 | 96.50% | 5,000x | High | Pay anywhere, multipliers up to 500x |
| Gates of Olympus 1000 | Dec 2023 | 96.50% | 15,000x | High | Multipliers up to 1,000x |
| Sweet Bonanza | Jun 2019 | 96.48% | Not published | Medium-High (High per Pragmatic's 2019 release) | Multiplier bombs 2x–100x |
| Sweet Bonanza 1000 | Jun 2024 | 96.53% | 25,000x | Not checked | Bombs up to 1,000x |
| Big Bass Bonanza | Dec 2020 | 96.71% | 2,100x | Medium-High | Money symbols up to 2,000x |
| Sugar Rush | Jun 2022 | 96.50% | 5,000x | High | Multiplier spots up to 128x |
| Sugar Rush 1000 | Mar 2024 | 96.00% (demo shows 96.53%) | 25,000x | High | Multipliers up to 1,024x |
| The Dog House | 2019 | 96.51% | Not published | High | Multiplier wilds, sticky in free spins |
| Wolf Gold | 2017 (per SlotCatalog) | 96.01% | Not published | Medium | Money Respin and three jackpots |
| Starlight Princess | Sep 2021 (trade press) | 96.50% | 5,000x | High | Pay anywhere, multipliers 2x–500x |
“Not published” means neither the official page nor the demo gives a figure. Slot databases list 21,100x for Sweet Bonanza and 6,750x for The Dog House, but we couldn’t confirm either from a Pragmatic source. Volatility ratings are SlotCatalog’s, not Pragmatic’s: treat them as a guide and try the demo.
Gates of Olympus by Pragmatic Play
Gates of Olympus (February 2021) is the game most players picture when they think of the studio. You win with 8 to 30 matching symbols anywhere on six tumbling reels, and multiplier symbols worth up to 500x land at random. Four or more scatters give 15 free spins, during which multipliers build up for the whole feature. Pragmatic’s launch release called it “highly volatile”, and it won Game of the Year at the EGR Operator Awards in December 2021.
Gates of Olympus 1000 (December 2023) keeps the game, including the 5 extra spins for 3 or more scatters in the feature, but raises multipliers to 1,000x and the cap to 15,000x (also stated in its launch release).
Where bonus buy is allowed, its page prices it at 100x your bet. The series has kept growing: Gates of Olympus Super Scatter (up to 50,000x on its official page), Gates of Olympus 2500 (September 2026, multipliers up to 2,500x) and a live Gates of Olympus Roulette table (April 2026).
Sweet Bonanza and Sweet Bonanza 1000 by Pragmatic Play
Sweet Bonanza (June 2019) is the candy-themed tumble slot that came almost two years before Gates of Olympus. It pays for 8 or more matching symbols, and multiplier bombs from 2x to 100x are added up at the end of a tumble sequence. Four to six scatters pay up to 100x and award 10 free spins. Its official RTP is 96.48%, and Pragmatic’s 2019 launch release called it “a high-volatility game”.
Sweet Bonanza 1000 (June 2024) moves to a 6×5 grid, raises the bombs to 1,000x and the cap to 25,000x, a figure given both on its official page and in the demo. Four or more lollipop scatters trigger 10 free spins. The demo’s game info lists a separate RTP for each mode: 96.53% for normal play, 96.50% with the ante bet, and 96.52% or 96.55% for the two buy options. Sweet Bonanza 2500 followed in April 2026, with bonus buy options “in select markets”.
Big Bass Bonanza: Pragmatic Play's Fishing Series
Big Bass Bonanza (December 2020) was made “in partnership with Reel Kingdom” and started one of the studio’s biggest series. It’s a simpler game than the tumble titles: money symbols are worth up to 2,000x, and three, four or five scatters give 10, 15 or 20 free spins. Every fourth wild in the feature retriggers it with 10 more spins and a multiplier of 2x, then 3x, then 10x.
Its official RTP of 96.71% is the highest in our table, the demo shows a 2,100x cap, and the original has no bonus buy.
If you are comparing Big Bass Bonanza Pragmatic Play versions, check each title’s own figures, because the original and the Megaways version differ (96.71% and a 2,100x cap against 96.70% and 4,000x in the demo). The series also includes Big Bass Bonanza 1000 (96.51% on its page, wins up to 20,000x per Pragmatic’s homepage), Big Bass Vegas 1000 (September 2026, up to 15,000x) and Big Bass Halloween Splash 1000 (October 2026). The theme has also moved into bingo with Big Bass Bingo (2025).
Sugar Rush, The Dog House, Wolf Gold and Starlight Princess
- Sugar Rush (June 2022): cluster pays for 5 or more symbols, with each winning spot marked and turned into a multiplier that doubles from 2x up to 128x. Three to seven scatters give 10 to 30 free spins. RTP 96.50%, 5,000x in the demo.
- Sugar Rush 1000 (March 2024): a 7×7 grid with multipliers doubling up to 1,024x and a 25,000x cap. Its page says 96.00% RTP while the demo shows 96.53%; see the RTP section.
- The Dog House (2019): a 5×3, 20-line game with multiplier wilds on reels 2 to 4 that turn sticky in free spins, RTP 96.51%. The Dog House Megaways (96.55%, 117,649 ways) and The Dog House Megaways 1000 (July 2026, up to 25,000x) followed.
- Wolf Gold: six or more money symbols trigger a Money Respin, and filling all 15 positions wins the 1,000x Mega Jackpot. Free spins merge reels 2 to 4 into a giant symbol. RTP 96.01%. It won Best Slot Game at the 2018 Malta Gaming Awards, and a Wolf Gold Power Jackpot version carries the studio’s network progressive.
- Starlight Princess: the same pay-anywhere design as Gates of Olympus, with 8 to 30 matching symbols, random multipliers of 2x to 500x and 15 free spins for four or more scatters. Official RTP 96.50%, with a 5,000x cap in the demo. Starlight Princess 1000 lifts the multipliers to 1,000x at the same 96.50%.
Base Game or 1000 Version? How the Series Differ
If you search for Gates of Olympus Pragmatic Play, Sweet Bonanza Pragmatic Play or Sweet Bonanza 1000 Pragmatic Play, many of the pages you find mix up an original game and its 1000 version, quoting one game’s RTP with the other’s max win. They’re separate games with separate maths. The 1000 versions keep the original’s look and features but push the top multiplier to about 1,000x and raise the cap, which generally means more of the game’s return sits in rare, very large wins.
| Series | Original: top multiplier / cap | 1000 version: top multiplier / cap | RTP: original / 1000 (official pages) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gates of Olympus | 500x / 5,000x | 1,000x / 15,000x | 96.50% / 96.50% |
| Sweet Bonanza | 100x / not published | 1,000x / 25,000x | 96.48% / 96.53% |
| Sugar Rush | 128x / 5,000x | 1,024x / 25,000x | 96.50% / 96.00% (demo 96.53%) |
| The Dog House Megaways | 3x wilds / not published | 1,000x wilds / 25,000x | 96.55% / not checked |
| Starlight Princess | 500x / 5,000x | 1,000x / not published on its page | 96.50% / 96.50% |
| Big Bass Bonanza | Money symbols up to 2,000x / 2,100x | Wins up to 20,000x | 96.71% / 96.51% |
A max win is a ceiling, not a target. It’s the most a single spin or feature can pay, as a multiple of your stake, and almost no session gets near it. A higher cap on the same RTP usually means smaller and less frequent wins in between.
Best Pragmatic Play Slots: Which Game Suits Which Player?
There’s no single best Pragmatic Play slot. The best Pragmatic Play games for you depend on how much volatility you can live with and which features you enjoy. This table matches the best Pragmatic Play online slots to player types, using the official features and figures above:
| If you want… | Try | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The classic tumble-and-multiplier game | Gates of Olympus | 96.50% RTP, 5,000x cap, multipliers up to 500x |
| The biggest caps | A Super Scatter game, such as Gates of Olympus Super Scatter | Up to 50,000x, per the official pages; Sweet Bonanza 1000 and Sugar Rush 1000 reach 25,000x |
| A simpler, feature-led game | Big Bass Bonanza | Highest RTP in our table (96.71%), lower 2,100x cap |
| Classic paylines | The Dog House | 5x3, 20 lines, sticky multiplier wilds in free spins |
| Jackpots | Wolf Gold | Three fixed jackpots; a Power Jackpot version has a network progressive |
| Cluster pays | Sugar Rush | Multiplier spots doubling up to 128x |
| Gates of Olympus in a different theme | Starlight Princess | Same pay-anywhere and multiplier design |
“Best” here means best fit, not best odds. Every slot RTP in our tables sits between 96.00% and 96.71% on the official pages, so the bigger difference between these Pragmatic Play online slots is how the wins are spread out. Try the demo before you choose among the best Pragmatic Play slots.
How to Recognise a Pragmatic Play Slot
- The badge: casino lobbies and the official site label games “Pragmatic Play” or “Pragmatic Play POP”. Partner-made games, such as Reel Kingdom’s Big Bass series, carry the same badge.
- Tumbles and added-up multipliers: winning symbols disappear, new ones fall in, and multiplier values are totalled at the end of the sequence.
- An ante bet option and, in some markets, a bonus buy.
- Number suffixes: the same theme often returns as a 1000, 2500, Megaways, Super Scatter or POP version.
- Drops & Wins banners in games at casinos taking part in the network.
Pragmatic Play Demo: How Pragmatic Free Play Works
Every game review on FAQsino includes a free demo where the studio allows it, so you can open Pragmatic Play demo slots in our game reviews without downloading anything. The demo gives you a balance of play money.
That balance has no cash value. Pragmatic demo play can’t pay out, can’t be topped up with real money and can’t be turned into a bonus: Pragmatic Play free slots are a way to learn a game, not a way to win. If a site promises real prizes from “Pragmatic Play free” games, it is offering something else, usually a promotion with its own terms.
Age checks depend on where you play. Under the Gambling Commission’s social responsibility code 3.2.11, UK-licensed casinos have to verify your age before you can open free-to-play versions of their games, so expect to register and pass checks before a UK casino lets you try Pragmatic Play demo games.
Why the Demo and the Real-Money Game Can Differ
The official demo shows a default version of each game. The version at your casino is the one approved for your market and chosen by the operator, and it can differ in three ways:
- RTP: the demo shows the default figure. SlotCatalog reports lower configurations for several Pragmatic Play slots, but Pragmatic publishes no statement on them (see the RTP section).
- Bonus buy: in our testing, the official demo hid the bonus buy when loaded with the market settings for the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal.
- Speed: the UK Gambling Commission’s product-design standard (RTS 14) requires at least 2.5 seconds per slot spin and bans turbo play, quick spin and slam stops, so UK versions can play more slowly than a demo opened elsewhere.
How to Try a Pragmatic Play Demo Responsibly
-
Step 1
Treat it as practice. Demo credit is play money with no cash value, and nothing you win in a demo can be withdrawn.
-
Step 2
Open the demo in the game's review on FAQsino. If you play at a casino instead, UK-licensed casinos will verify your age before letting you play free games.
-
Step 3
Open the game info and note the RTP, the max win and whether the game has an ante bet or bonus buy.
-
Step 4
Play a few hundred spins at a fixed stake and watch how often wins and the free spins land, and how long the dry spells last. That gives you a feel for the game's hit frequency and volatility.
-
Step 5
Remember that the real-money version at your casino may use a different RTP setting, may not offer the bonus buy and may spin more slowly.
Pragmatic Play RTP: What Is Published and How to Check It
Pragmatic Play RTP figures are easy to find. Official game pages list one RTP under “Basic Game Info” (the Gates of Olympus Super Scatter page was the one exception we found, with the field left blank): 96.50% for Gates of Olympus, 96.48% for Sweet Bonanza and 96.71% for Big Bass Bonanza.
Games with an ante bet or bonus buy go further in the demo’s game info, which shows a separate RTP for each mode. That’s more than Play’n GO offers, as it shows no RTP on its own game pages.
Two things are missing from the game pages. Pragmatic doesn’t list a volatility rating or, for older games, a max win, although its launch releases call Gates of Olympus “highly volatile” and Sweet Bonanza “a high-volatility game”. And it has published no statement on whether casinos can choose lower RTP settings.
The slot database SlotCatalog lists lower settings for several of the studio’s slots, such as 96.5%, 95.5% and 94.5% for Sugar Rush, but its figures are inconsistent for some games and we found no official confirmation. When the International Gaming Awards named Pragmatic RNG Casino Supplier of the Year in 2021, the judges cited “a consistent RTP rate”, according to Pragmatic’s release.
We also compared the official pages with the demo’s game info. Most figures match or differ by a hundredth or two:
| Game | Official page | Demo's game info |
|---|---|---|
| Gates of Olympus 1000 | 96.50% | 96.50% normal and ante; 96.49% bonus buy |
| Sweet Bonanza 1000 | 96.53% | 96.53% normal; 96.50% ante; 96.52% or 96.55% bonus buy |
| Sweet Bonanza | 96.48% | 96.49%, plus a second value of 96.60% |
| Wolf Gold | 96.01% | 96.00% |
| Big Bass Bonanza Megaways | 96.70% | 96.72% |
| Sugar Rush 1000 | 96.00% | 96.53% normal; 96.52% or 96.44% bonus buy |
The small gaps look like rounding, though Pragmatic doesn’t explain them, and they don’t change the overall picture: published Pragmatic Play RTP figures for the slots above all sit between 96.00% and 96.71% (the crash game Spaceman lists 95%). Sugar Rush 1000 is the exception, at 96.00% on its page against 96.53% in the demo, and we can’t tell which is current. Either way, the figure that counts is the one in the game rules at your casino.
How to Check a Pragmatic Play Slot's RTP Before You Play
-
Step 1
Open the game at your casino and find the menu or information button.
-
Step 2
Go to the game rules or paytable and look for the RTP or theoretical return line.
-
Step 3
If the game has an ante bet or bonus buy, check whether the rules list a separate RTP for each mode.
-
Step 4
Compare the figure with the official page, for example 96.50% for Gates of Olympus or 96.71% for Big Bass Bonanza.
-
Step 5
If the casino's figure is lower, it is running a different configuration. Pick another game or casino if that matters to you.
Bonus Buy and Ante Bet: Why Features Vary by Market
Many Pragmatic Play slots let you pay to go straight to the free spins, and Gates of Olympus 1000’s page prices that at 100x your bet. Pragmatic describes the feature as available “in select markets”, and it isn’t offered everywhere.
In our testing on 17 October 2026, the official demo removed the bonus buy from games including Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza and Sugar Rush, and their 1000 versions, when loaded with the market codes for the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal. It kept the feature for others, including Malta, Sweden, Denmark, Spain and Ontario. That is behaviour we observed, not a published rule.
The Gambling Commission’s RTS 14 standard doesn’t mention bonus buy, so we don’t call it a UK legal ban; it simply wasn’t offered in the UK versions we loaded.
The ante bet is an optional higher stake per spin that changes how the game plays, and its rules explain the exact effect.
In Gates of Olympus, the demo’s game info lists a 4,000x cap with the ante on, against 5,000x without it. The ante raises the stake from 20 to 25 bet units, so by our calculation that is the same maximum payout expressed against the larger stake. Gates of Olympus 1000 shows the same pattern (15,000x and 12,000x), and the RTP stays at 96.50% in both.
Megaways and Jackpots at Pragmatic Play
Megaways isn’t Pragmatic’s invention. It licensed the mechanic from Big Time Gaming in April 2020, starting with Great Rhino Megaways, and has released Megaways titles ever since, including Zombie School Megaways and Bandit Megaways.
In a Megaways slot the number of symbols on each reel changes from spin to spin, so the number of ways to win changes too. Pragmatic’s own pages quote up to 117,649 ways for The Dog House Megaways and Power of Thor Megaways, and over 200,000 ways for Great Rhino Megaways and Buffalo King Megaways.
| Game | RTP (official page) | What the official page states |
|---|---|---|
| Great Rhino Megaways | 96.50% | Over 200,000 ways; wins up to 20,000x the bet |
| Buffalo King Megaways | 96.52% | Over 200,000 ways |
| Madame Destiny Megaways | 96.56% | Scatters pay 5x to 100x |
| The Dog House Megaways | 96.55% | 117,649 ways; wild multipliers up to 3x |
| Power of Thor Megaways | 96.55% | 117,649 ways |
| Big Bass Bonanza Megaways | 96.70% | Money symbols; 4,000x cap in the demo |
Its jackpots come in three types:
- Jackpot Play: a local progressive added to existing games since June 2023, with four tiers won through a mini-game. Each casino configures its own.
- Power Jackpot: a network progressive on Wolf Gold Power Jackpot, with Mini, Minor, Major and Power tiers. Pragmatic estimates average prizes of €750, €12,500, €125,000 and €4.5 million, and splits the Power prize 50% to the winner and 50% among the last 1,000 players.
- Fixed jackpots: set prizes inside about 30 games, including Wolf Gold, Great Rhino, Queenie and 5 Lions Gold.
Pragmatic Play Live Casino, Bingo and Virtual Sports
The studio is no longer only about slots. Its live casino streams roulette, blackjack, baccarat and game shows, with a 28-language interface and 4K multi-camera production. Titles include Mega Wheel, Mega Roulette, PowerUP Roulette, ONE Blackjack, Free Bet Blackjack, Privé Lounge Russian Poker, Dragon Tiger, Snakes & Ladders Live and Sweet Bonanza CandyLand, plus Gates of Olympus Roulette. The company says it added more than 150 new live tables in 2025, 55 of them localised.
The studios have grown from Bucharest, where a 2019 release described a licensed studio with room for 43 tables, to Serbia and Bogotá in 2025. Pragmatic says the Colombian studio will have more than 100 tables and is backed by an investment of over $15 million, and it plans a studio in Brazil in 2026. Its Smart Studio lets several casino brands share tables dressed in their own branding. For the live specialist in this batch, see our Evolution review.
There’s also bingo, including Big Bass Bingo and the live The Bingo Spot; virtual sports such as Penalty Shootout Live!, horse racing, greyhound racing and Super Bike Racing; arcade games and scratchcards; and a sportsbook. In July 2026 the company turned its Fat Panda brand into Pragmatic Play POP, a brand aimed at casual and beginner players, with versions such as Gates of Olympus POP and Sweet Bonanza POP.
Crash Games: Spaceman
Crash games work differently from slots. In Spaceman you place a stake and a multiplier climbs while the character flies; you win the current multiplier if you cash out before he stops, and lose the stake if you don’t. Spaceman’s official page lists an RTP of 95%, lower than the slots above, so compare RTP across game types, not just across slots.
Drops & Wins and Enhance Promo Tools
Drops & Wins is Pragmatic’s own prize network, which it calls the industry’s largest provider-funded prize pool. The current season runs from 4 March 2026 to 3 March 2027 with “more than €25,000,000” across over 5 million prizes, through seven daily tournaments and one Wheel Drop each week. Wheel prizes go up to 100,000x the bet, capped at €100,000. The company says it has awarded more than €100 million since the network launched in 2020.
Casinos also get Pragmatic’s Enhance tools to run their own promotions on its games: prize drops, tournaments, free spins, cashback and Pragmatic Replay, which replays the top 100 wins. Which of these you see depends on your casino.
Pragmatic Play Licences and Testing
Pragmatic Play works through two licensed group companies, one in Gibraltar and one in Malta, and both hold full UK licences. We checked both on the Gambling Commission public register: each was active on 17 October 2026, with no regulatory actions listed.

Pragmatic’s live casino page also mentions certifications for Italy, Sweden, Romania and Bulgaria, and its About page says the RNG is tested and certified by GLI, Quinel and Gaming Associates. You can open the GLI certificate yourself; GLI notes it is not an endorsement. Its games page also shows a BMM logo, but we found no BMM certificate to open.
The Danish entry is on the regulator’s supplier list, and we confirmed the Swedish licence on Spelinspektionen’s register. We couldn’t check the Italian or Romanian entries, so those aren’t in the licences we list for this studio.
For what each licence means for you, see our reviews of the UK Gambling Commission, the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner, the Malta Gaming Authority, Spillemyndigheden and the Swedish Gambling Authority.
Pragmatic Play Casinos: How to Choose One
Pragmatic Play casinos are easy to find, so the choice of casino matters more than the choice of studio. What separates the best Pragmatic Play online casinos isn’t the game list, which is often similar, but how the casino treats you:
- A licence for your country: in the UK, a Gambling Commission licence; elsewhere, your national regulator’s.
- The RTP setting: open the rules of a game you know, such as Gates of Olympus, and compare the Pragmatic Play RTP shown there with the 96.50% on the official page.
- Payouts: clear withdrawal times, and no surprise fees or limits hidden in the terms.
- Safer-gambling tools: deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion that are easy to find.
- Bonus terms: wagering and game-contribution rules you can read before you opt in.
We don’t hand-pick a “best Pragmatic Play online casino”. Instead, the Pragmatic Play casinos in the Casinos with Pragmatic Play Games list at the bottom of this page come from our casino reviews, ranked by FAQsino Trust Score and tailored to the country you’re visiting from. Any Pragmatic Play casino on it should still pass the checks above before you deposit.
Pragmatic Play Casino Bonus and Free Spins: What to Check
There’s no bonus from the studio itself: Pragmatic supplies games, and casinos run the offers. A “Pragmatic Play casino bonus” usually means a welcome offer or free spins that a casino ties to one of its games, such as Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza or Big Bass Bonanza. Before you accept one, check:
- Wagering: how many times you must play through the bonus or free-spin winnings before you can withdraw.
- Game contribution: whether the slot you want counts fully towards wagering, partly, or not at all.
- Spin value and eligible games: free spins usually come at a fixed stake on named games.
- Bonus buy and ante bet: bonus terms sometimes restrict these while a bonus is active.
- Maximum bet, win caps and expiry dates.
Drops & Wins prizes are separate from casino bonuses, because Pragmatic funds them. Our bonuses and free spins guide explains wagering in more detail.
Market Exits, Awards and Sponsorships
US sweepstakes exit (September 2025). On 2 September 2025 the trade site NEXT.io reported that Pragmatic would stop supplying US sweepstakes casinos in states where restrictions weren’t already in place, with a spokesperson citing “regulatory developments and evolving legislation”. It came days after the Los Angeles City Attorney sued Stake.us and others over sweepstakes gambling; trade reports differ on whether Pragmatic was implicated. Its chief revenue officer later confirmed the withdrawal in a company interview.
Netherlands (May 2026). In late May 2026, Dutch trade press reported that the studio’s games had stopped loading at most unlicensed casinos serving the Netherlands, showing a “not available in your region” message. Pragmatic made no public statement, and the reports said the block was only partial. We found no action by the Dutch regulator against Pragmatic in the sources we checked.
Sponsorship and market position. Pragmatic was main sponsor of the Aprilia Racing MotoGP team for the 2025 season. In Eilers-Fantini’s November 2025 report, covering 87 casinos in 19 European countries, it had a 17.5% share of gross gaming revenue, the largest of any supplier in the sample, with Gates of Olympus 1000 and Gates of Olympus Super Scatter among the top five slots.
Awards. The wins below are the ones we could tie to a dated release or the organiser’s own winners list. The company also says it won 39 awards in 2025, including Casino Content Supplier and Slot Supplier at the EGR B2B Awards; we haven’t checked that total against each organiser.
| Year | Awards | Category | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | EGR B2B Awards | Innovation in Slot Provision | Company release via European Gaming |
| 2018 | Malta Gaming Awards | Best Slot Game (Wolf Gold) | Company release via European Gaming, 28 Nov 2018 |
| 2021 | International Gaming Awards | RNG Casino Supplier of the Year | Company release |
| 2021 | EGR Operator Awards | Game of the Year (Gates of Olympus) | Company release |
| 2026 | SBC Awards | Casino/Slots Developer of the Year (Large), third year running; Live Casino Supplier | SBC News winners list |
Pragmatic Play vs Play'n GO, NetEnt, Evolution and Games Global
How the studio compares with the others we reviewed in this batch, using only what each company publishes:
| Studio | Main focus | RTP on its own game pages | Ownership |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pragmatic Play | Slots, plus live casino, bingo and virtual sports | One figure per game page; per-mode RTP in the demo | Private investor group led by Veridian (Gibraltar) Limited |
| Play'n GO | Slots, 400+ games (company figure) | None on its own game pages | Private; owners not published |
| NetEnt | About 200 slots, an Evolution brand | Official RTP, hit frequency and max win per game | Evolution, since December 2020 |
| Evolution | Live casino, plus slot brands | Not compared | Listed on Nasdaq Stockholm (EVO) |
| Games Global | Multi-studio network, 1,300+ games (company figure) | Not compared | Zinnia Limited, per a 2024 SEC filing |
Pragmatic’s range is among the broadest of the five, combining a large slot catalogue with its own live studios, bingo and virtual sports. NetEnt publishes more maths per game; Pragmatic publishes more than Play’n GO. Play’n GO publicly rules out bonus buy and sweepstakes supply, while Pragmatic offers bonus buy in some markets and left US sweepstakes in 2025. For a jackpot-led network, see Games Global.
What We Could Not Verify
Honesty about the gaps matters as much as the facts. These points we could not confirm from a primary source:
- A founding date: the company gives none, and outside accounts of its origins disagree.
- Who the investors in the Veridian-led group are.
- A BMM certificate to match the BMM logo on the games page.
- Whether casinos can pick lower RTP settings, and which ones: only SlotCatalog reports them.
- Official volatility ratings, and max wins for Sweet Bonanza, The Dog House and Wolf Gold, which Pragmatic doesn’t publish.
- Which RTP is current for Sugar Rush 1000: 96.00% on its page or 96.53% in the demo.
- Register entries for Italy, Romania, Spain, Germany, Ontario and US states, and the MGA licence number.
- Independent confirmation of the 39 awards the company says it won in 2025.
Pragmatic Play publishes a lot about each game: an RTP on its official game pages, and per-mode RTP and max win in the demo. What it does not tell you is whether your casino runs that same version. Check the game rules before you spin.
Our Verdict on Pragmatic Play
Pragmatic Play has earned its reputation. It makes a huge range of games, releases new Pragmatic Play slots at a fast pace, publishes an RTP on its game pages, operates through two UK-licensed companies, and backs its catalogue with free demos and a studio-funded prize network.
The caveats are about what it doesn’t say: who its investors are, whether lower RTP versions exist, and how volatile each game is. Its flagship games are built around big, rare wins, and trade reports say its games could be reached at unlicensed Dutch casinos until a partial block in May 2026.
For players, the approach is simple: try the Pragmatic Play demo in our game reviews first, compare the Pragmatic Play RTP in the game rules at your casino with the official page, choose among Pragmatic Play casinos licensed for your country, and set limits before you play for real.
