Who Is Quickspin? Founders, Owner and History

The company’s own story is short: it “was born in 2011” when three friends in Stockholm decided to make the slots they wanted to play. Trade press names them as Daniel Lindberg, Joachim Timmermans and Mats Westerlund. The legal entity is Quickspin AB, a Swedish company (org. no. 556852-1602), and you will sometimes see it called Quickspin Gaming, which is not its registered name.

The company lists three offices: Stockholm, which it calls its headquarters, Sliema in Malta and Kyiv in Ukraine. Its About page says it has about 100 people from more than 30 nationalities “spread out over five countries”, which does not quite match the three offices it lists.

Trade press reported in July 2022 that founder Daniel Lindberg handed the chief executive role to Panagiotis Chryssovitsanos, who had joined in 2013 as CTO. The company’s own posts still quoted him as CEO in May 2024, but we found no newer confirmation, and the official site names no executives.

Who Owns Quickspin? The Playtech Years

The studio is a wholly owned part of Playtech, the London-listed casino software group. The studio calls the 2016 deal “a major milestone”, and Playtech’s FY2025 results list Quickspin AB as a 100% subsidiary that “develops and provides online gaming slots”. At the time, trade press reported the price as EUR 24 million upfront plus an earn-out on 2017 and 2018 profits, capping the total at EUR 50 million. We could not read Playtech’s own announcement, so treat those terms as reported.

Playtech’s later annual reports are more candid than most studio marketing. The group wrote down the value of the business three years in a row: EUR 7.0 million in 2022, EUR 9.6 million in 2023 and EUR 18.2 million in 2024, citing falling revenue, organisational changes and “an extremely competitive market with stricter regulations”. Its 2023 report says the studio had moved under the management of Playtech’s Live business unit, and in 2025 the group folded it into its wider Casino cash-generating unit, an accounting grouping.

These are accounting write-downs, not a verdict on whether the games are fair, but they may help explain the slower release pace on the official list.

Quickspin Games: What the 137-Game Catalogue Includes

The official portfolio page listed 137 games when we counted on 18 October 2026, including Christmas editions, sequels and one live title. The company states no total of its own, which is why slot databases quote anything from about 100 to more than 150. Almost all are Quickspin online slots, alongside a small live line called Quickspin Live.

The Quickspin casino games split into a few clear families: fairy-tale slots (Big Bad Wolf, Goldilocks, Rapunzel’s Tower), the Sakura Fortune and Sticky Bandits series, cash-collect games such as Cash Truck, fishing games under the Epic Fish name, and the plinko-style Pearl o’ Plinko pair.

• Megaways: yes. Big Bad Wolf Megaways and Eastern Emeralds Megaways both carry the Megaways mark on their official pages.
• Bonus Buy: on many newer games. Official pages and sheets list buy prices such as 90x on Big Bad Wolf Megaways and 80x or 160x on Scepter of Anubis, always noting that the feature may not be available in all markets. The older classics have none.
• Progressive jackpots: none found. We found no progressive jackpot on the official pages we read. Titan Thunder Wrath of Hades has three fixed jackpots (Minor, Major and Mega) in its Lightning Jackpots feature, according to its official page: fixed prizes, not a progressive pool.

Swooping Reels, Respins and Other Signature Mechanics

Quickspin slot games tend to reuse a few recognisable ideas. Swooping Reels keep a Big Bad Wolf round going after each win, and every second Swoop turns one of the three pigs wild. Respins with nudging wilds drive Sakura Fortune, Scepter of Anubis and Sakura Fortune Epic Bloom: full stacks of wilds trigger respins, and a nudge can complete a stack.

Newer games add tumbling reels and Megaways (Big Bad Wolf Megaways, up to 117,649 ways), cash collect features in the Cash Truck series, and an Extra Bet option at 2x the stake in several newer titles. Sequels lean on the same mechanics, which makes a new release easy to learn if you know the original.

Quickspin Live: Big Bad Wolf Live and Live Spin-offs

This live line builds on its owner: its games use Playtech Live technology and are distributed through the Playtech Live platform. The first, Big Bad Wolf Live, arrived in summer 2023 as a 3×5, 25-line live slot with Tumbling Reels and Pigs Turn Wild; three Wolf Bonus symbols send you to a communal Live Bonus Game.

The studio describes its 40x Buy Feature for that bonus as a live slot first. It aims for one live game per quarter, but only Big Bad Wolf Live is in the portfolio. Playtech’s 2024 annual report adds that the partnership produced Sticky Bandits Roulette Live and a crash game, Busted or Bailed Live.

Quickspin Mobile: Phones, Tablets and Apps

The older game sheets we read, such as Big Bad Wolf and Sakura Fortune, list their channels as “Desktop & Mobile” (newer sheets do not state channels), and the Goldilocks page says its HTML5 remake added portrait play. HTML5 games run in your phone’s browser, with nothing to download. We found no app for players: a Quickspin mobile casino is simply a licensed casino whose site or app carries the games. We have not run device tests, so try the layout before you deposit.

Big Bad Wolf Quickspin Slot and Big Bad Wolf Megaways

Big Bad Wolf is the game most people mean by “Big Bad Wolf Quickspin”. Released in 2013, it retells the Three Little Pigs with Swooping Reels: every second Swoop turns a pig wild, and six in a row turn all three wild. Three Bonus Scatters award 10 free spins in which you collect Moon symbols to blow down the houses, for extra spins and a chance at a 2x multiplier. The studio calls it high volatility and says it won Game of the Year at the EGR awards.

Its RTP is often misquoted. The official sheet lists two models only, 97.34% and 90.01%. The 90%, 94% and 96% trio you see on some sites belongs to Big Bad Wolf Megaways (2021), whose sheet gives 96.05%, 94.11% and 90.19%.

The Megaways version uses six reels with up to 117,649 ways, tumbles, Piggy Wilds after 2, 4 and 6 tumbles, and 11 free spins with a multiplier that does not reset during the round. Its sheet records a highest win of 30,540x the bet in 100 billion simulated spins on the 96% model, an observed figure rather than a stated cap.

Sakura Fortune Quickspin Series: Original, 2 and Epic Bloom

The studio calls the original Sakura Fortune an “extremely volatile” 4×5, 40-line slot, and its sheet scores it 4.83 out of 5. Two full stacks of Princess wilds trigger Sakura Fortune Respins, a Mystery Nudge can complete a stack, and in free spins every Princess wild expands to cover its reel and adds a free spin. The sheet lists 96.58% and 90.02% models.

Trade press reported in April 2017 that the Achievements Engine would debut on this game. The sequels are Sakura Fortune 2 and Sakura Fortune Epic Bloom, the title the About page now leads with. Epic Bloom’s sheet lists four models (96.06%, 94.19%, 92.07% and 87.15%), volatility 5 and a 10,000x maximum win, with a Buy Feature at 80x or 160x where markets allow it.

Sticky Bandits, Goldilocks and Treasure Island

Sticky Bandits is a 5×5 Wild West heist slot with massive wilds on reels 2 and 4. A Bonus symbol on reel 1 plus a wild on reel 2 or 4 awards seven free spins, and positions that are wild when the bonus starts stay wild. The sheet lists 96.58% and volatility 4.10. The Sticky Bandits Quickspin series now runs to Wild Return, 3 Most Wanted, Trail of Blood, Unchained and Thunder Rail.

Goldilocks, first launched in 2014 and later remade in HTML5, is gentler: each of three Multiplier Wilds adds to the win multiplier, up to 4x with all three, and 10 free spins turn the bears wild as you collect progress scatters. The sheet lists a single 96.84% model and volatility 3.56. For many players, this is the Goldilocks Quickspin slot to start with.

Searching for Treasure Island Quickspin brings up an older game still worth knowing. Treasure Island, which the studio described as its most feature-rich video slot at the time, is the calmest of the classics on our sheets: volatility 2.70 and 97.07% RTP. Pirate Attack bombards the reels with wilds, Treasure Hunt is a pick-and-click bonus, and free spins can add Super Wilds, Extra Wilds or Locked Barrel Wilds. The highest win its sheet records in a billion simulated spins is 1,844x the bet.

Leprechaun Hills, Phoenix Sun and Second Strike

If you searched for Leprechaun Hills Quickspin, Phoenix Sun Quickspin or Second Strike Quickspin, all three are still on the official list. Leprechaun Hills is a 4×5, 40-line Irish-themed slot: a win with a medium symbol starts Lucky Respins with stacks of that symbol, and three scatters award seven Rainbow Free Spins with a mystery symbol. Its sheet lists 96.49% and the top volatility score of 5.

Phoenix Sun starts on a 3×5 grid that opens up to six rows and 7,776 ways. Each Phoenix Wild in a win removes three cover tiles and triggers a respin, and collecting five Phoenix Wilds awards eight free spins. Second Strike, billed as the studio’s first volatile 10-line game, borrows from fruit machines: after a win, an outer wheel can add 6, 8 or 10 extra symbols. Check the RTP for both in the game.

Cash Truck, Golden Glyph, Eastern Emeralds and Other Big-Win Series

Cash Truck is the post-apocalyptic series: a 5-reel game from 4 to 7 rows high with tumbling reels and a play area that grows with every win. The original’s sheet lists 96.00%, 94.05% and 90.05%, volatility 5 and 25,000x seen in 100 million simulated spins. Cash Truck 3 Turbo runs up to 16,807 ways with a Big Wild and the Truck Raider bonus, ships in four models (96.06%, 94.19%, 92.07% and 87.15%) and offers a feature buy at 75x or 375x the base bet where markets allow it.

Golden Glyph was the studio’s first cluster game, according to the Golden Glyph 2 sheet. Wins tumble, Power-Ups such as Golden Scarab and Eye of Horus reshape the grid, and its 9 free spins can grow by 3 at a time. Its sheet lists 96.19%; Golden Glyph 2 lists 96.09% and adds a Bonus Buy. Book of Duat, with expanding-symbol free spins and a picker screen, scores volatility 5 with models of 96.27%, 94.19% and 90.12%.

Eastern Emeralds scores volatility 5, lists 96.58% and 90.12% models and lets you choose 6, 9, 12 or 15 free spins: fewer spins carry a higher top win, from 16,003x for 6 spins to 2,294x for 15 in 100 billion simulated spins. Wild Luchador is a 243-ways wrestling slot with volatility 4.5, a 96% RTP, Dead Slam Free Spins and a 70x Bonus Buy.

Quickspin Max Win: Stated Caps vs Simulated Maximums

The sheets give maximum wins in two ways. Some state a hard cap, such as 10,000x on Sakura Fortune Epic Bloom. Others print the largest win seen in a set number of simulated spins, which is an observation, not a limit. That is why websites quote different top wins for the same game. The table shows which is which.

New Quickspin Slots: What the Official List Shows

The studio’s homepage promises “at least two solid game releases per month”, but the official list does not show that pace. Its news page has not been updated since March 2025, the game pages give no release dates, and the three newest titles on the list are Gloria Invicta, Honeylock’s Pots and Brawler’s Brew. The table shows recent new Quickspin slots from the list, without dates, because the studio publishes none.

Quickspin RTP Models: Why the Same Game Pays Back Less at Some Casinos

RTP (return to player) is the share of all money staked that a game is designed to pay back over a very large number of spins. The studio ships most games in several RTP models, each with its own game ID: Big Bad Wolf Megaways exists as bigbadwolfmegaways, bigbadwolfmegaways94 and bigbadwolfmegaways90, for example. The casino picks the one it runs. The graphics and features are identical, so you cannot tell them apart without opening the rules.

The pattern has changed over time. The classics have one or two models. Recent games usually have three or four, typically 96% (94% on the newest), 94% and 92%, with the lowest at 84.21%, 85.13%, 87.15% or, on Savannah Fortune, 90.12%. The official page for The Grim Reaper says its four variants (96%, 94%, 92% and 85%) mean it “ensures its reach across all realms and markets”.

Volatility: What the 1–5 Score Tells You

The studio’s sheets score volatility from 1 to 5. A high score means long runs of small or no wins, with most of the return packed into rare features. Among the classics, Treasure Island (2.70) and Goldilocks (3.56) sit at the gentler end; among newer games, Wild Beans scores 2 and Pearl o’ Plinko: Fire & Bones 1. Sakura Fortune (4.83), Leprechaun Hills (5), Scepter of Anubis (5) and Cash Truck Begins (5 on its top three models) sit at the top.

A high-volatility game can empty a session budget in far fewer spins than the long-run average suggests. Every spin is independent, so a game is never “due” a win. Set a deposit limit before you start and stop when the budget is gone.

Quickspin Licences: Sweden, the UK and Malta

Its licensing is easy to misread, because its website footer quotes two licence numbers that its parent, Playtech, also quotes as its own. Here is what we could confirm:

Is Quickspin Safe? The 2025 Swedish Sanction

On 17 September 2025 Spelinspektionen gave Quickspin AB a warning and a SEK 650,000 sanction fee (decision 25Si1089). This is what the decision says:

• The finding. On 15 May 2025 the regulator checked websites run by operators banned from offering gambling in Sweden, and found the company acting as game supplier to operators without the necessary licence and under an order to stop. That breaks the rule that a licensed software supplier must not supply unlicensed operators.
• The company’s answer. On 23 May 2025 it said it had corrected the problem, and attributed it to its games reaching the operator through content partners.
• The regulator’s view. The licence holder is responsible whether or not content partners were involved. It called the breach serious, but found a warning enough instead of revoking the licence, crediting the quick fix, the removal of games and assets, and new measures against a repeat.
• The fee. The company reported 2024 Swedish net turnover of SEK 10,919,073, which capped the fee at SEK 1,091,907. The regulator set it at SEK 650,000.

Trade press reported that it was the largest of three supplier penalties Spelinspektionen announced that week. The Swedish licence was still listed as active on 18 October 2026, and we could not find out whether it appealed. Its news page carries no statement on it.

Beyond that case, we found no other fines against the company in the sources we checked, though that search was not exhaustive. Slot review sites generally praise its graphics and production values, and their most common criticism is the reuse of mechanics across sequels.

Awards and Recognition

The most recent industry win we could confirm is from 2023, when Head of Marketing Linn Lange won Inspiration of the Year at the Women in Gaming Diversity Awards; Playtech’s 2023 annual report records it as a Quickspin win. The studio’s own posts list earlier wins, including WiG Company of the Year (2021) and EGR Game of the Year for Big Bad Wolf (2013). We found no 2025 or 2026 industry award.

What We Could Not Verify

As of 18 October 2026 we could not confirm:

• Who runs the studio today. The last CEO confirmation we found dates from May 2024.
• The MGA register entry for MGA/CRP/137/2007, a separate UKGC account in its name, or its test labs.
• RTP figures for Phoenix Sun and Second Strike, whose sheets are image-only.
• Release dates for 2025 and 2026 games. Aggregators list Book of Sakura and Nigel of Ra, but neither is on the official portfolio and both game addresses returned “page not found” on 18 October 2026, so we do not count them.
• Firestorm’s RTP and availability. Trade press reported it as a 2013 Quickspin game, but it is no longer on the official list.
• A progressive jackpot, the Megaways licensing arrangement, and whether lower RTP versions now exist for the single-model classics.
• The final price Playtech paid, and whether the company appealed the Swedish decision.

Our Verdict on Quickspin

Quickspin made some of the best-loved slots of the 2010s, and Big Bad Wolf, Sakura Fortune and Goldilocks still stand up. Few studios publish their maths as openly: exact RTP models, volatility and win frequencies sit on public sheets for almost all the games we checked. Its promotion tools are a real point of difference. It holds a Swedish licence in its own name, supplies the UK under Playtech’s licence, and quotes a Malta licence number that Playtech also quotes as its own.

The record has weaker spots: three years of write-downs by its owner, a quieter release schedule than its homepage promises, and a 2025 Swedish sanction.

For players, the RTP model is the key issue: the same slot can return 97% or 90%, and the newest games’ sheets list 94% as the top standard model.
