Playson is a Malta-based slot developer best known for its Hold and Win games, such as Buffalo Power, Coin Strike, Thunder Coins and the Pots Riches series. It does not run casinos of its own: the company builds the games and supplies them to licensed operators. Its official games page listed 115 titles when we checked on 18 October 2026, and every one of them was a slot.
This review explains who runs the company, how the Hold and Win bonus actually works, which of its slots suit which player, what we could and could not verify about RTP, its licences, demo play and how to choose a casino that carries its games. Facts come from playson.com, the UK, Swedish and Malta regulators’ registers, and named trade sources.
Short answer: it is a UK-licensed, slots-only studio with one clear speciality: respin bonuses with fixed jackpot tiers. Its weak spot is transparency. Its game pages show no RTP, volatility or max win, and the RTPs commonly listed for its best-known games mostly sit at or below 96%, so check the figure inside the game before you play.

Playson Limited: Owners, Leadership and History
The company is registered in Malta under company number C 60492, with its office at 12 Tigne Place, Tigne Street, Sliema. The UK Gambling Commission register gives the same address as its head office. It dates itself to 2012: its about page says “14 years in business”, and several of its leaders are listed as having been there since 2012. A 2021 company profile reports that its first games were shown at ICE London in 2014.
The company does not publish who owns it. We found no parent company, investor, acquisition or stock-market listing in the sources we checked, and we could not read the Malta Business Registry’s shareholder records. Calling it “independent” or “privately owned” would go further than the evidence, so we don’t.
The top job is not clearly labelled either. The leadership page, read on 18 October 2026, lists Ivan Farrugia as Managing Director, Vsevolod Lapin as Deputy CEO and Alex Ivshin, named as CEO in trade press as recently as 2024, as Strategic Advisor. Nobody carries the CEO title on that page, yet a company press release dated 7 October 2026 quotes “Vsevolod Lapin, CEO”. Lapin appears to lead the company, but the two official pages disagree on his title.
Trade press reports that Lapin joined in 2017 as a product manager, became COO in 2022 and deputy CEO in 2024.
Some players search for “Playson Gaming”, but the company’s legal name is Playson Limited. It says it has more than 200 staff and 300+ partners. Trade press describes a development studio in Kyiv, and in March 2022 the company publicly condemned the invasion of Ukraine and said it was supporting affected staff.

Playson Games: A Slots-Only Catalogue
Playson games are slots, and only slots. Its official games page listed 115 titles when we scrolled through it on 18 October 2026, while the about page still quotes an older “90+”. We found no table games, live dealer games or video poker among them. A company profile based on 2018 data listed a few roulette, blackjack and video poker titles at that time, but none appear on the current list.
Rather than one-off ideas, the catalogue is built from a handful of repeatable formats, which is why so many Playson slot games share a name pattern:
- Hold and Win: the respin bonus with coin symbols and fixed jackpots, used across Buffalo Power, Royal Coins, Coin Strike, Thunder Coins and the Pots Riches series.
- Hit the Bonus and Super Wheel: newer formats visible in game names such as Clover Charm: Hit the Bonus and 4 Supercharged Clovers: Super Wheel.
- Megaways: Legend of Cleopatra Megaways, Wolf Power Megaways and Buffalo Power Megaways carry the Megaways trademark on the studio’s own pages.
- Free-spins and classic slots: Book of Gold: Multichance, Solar Queen and fruit-machine-style titles.
Several newer games include a buy feature. The 4 Pots Riches page lists a Buy Bonus Feature, and the company says the Super Bonus Game in 3 Roaring Bells can be bought at 200x. Golden Penny x1000 and Thunder Coins XXL: BoosterCells also come with buy options.
Buy options are not offered in every market, so what you see depends on the casino and where you play. Some titles add an Extra Bet instead, such as the one in More Energy Coins, reported at 1.5x, which raises your stake on every spin.
Searches for a Playson casino games provider or a Playson online games supplier lead to the same business: a B2B software provider, not an operator. Casinos integrate Playson casino software directly or through aggregators, then show the games in their own lobbies. Its business site also lists promotional tools, an integration product called xPlatform and the xEYE Viewboard.
How the Hold and Win Bonus Works
Respin-and-collect bonuses are offered by several studios, and this one sits at the centre of the catalogue. Across the Hold and Win slots Playson has released, the official game pages describe variations on one basic loop:
- Land enough Bonus (coin) symbols to trigger the Bonus Game. Thunder Coins needs at least one on each reel; iGaming Business reports that 4 Pots Riches needs six.
- Bonus symbols stay on the reels while you respin. In Thunder Coins, only Bonus and Thunder symbols can land during the round.
- The round runs on a limited number of respins. 3 Roaring Bells starts with three, and every new Bell resets the count to three.
- Coin values are added up, and jackpot symbols, or in some games a full grid, pay fixed jackpot prizes.
The details change from game to game, and that is where the real differences lie. Thunder Coins only lands its sticky Thunder symbols on reel 2, Coin Strike’s Strike symbol collects the values of other Bonus and Jackpot symbols, and Buffalo Power doubles the bonus total if you fill the whole screen.
| Game | Released | Grid | How the bonus works | Jackpots |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Buffalo Power: Hold and Win | 2 Jul 2020 | 5x3, 20 lines | Triggers from the base game or free spins; full reels double the bonus win | Four in-game jackpots, set by the number of Power symbols |
| Coin Strike: Hold and Win | 27 Apr 2023 | 3x3, 5 lines | Strike symbol collects Bonus and Jackpot values; Pile of Gold feature | Four in-game jackpots |
| Thunder Coins: Hold and Win | 30 May 2024 | 3x3, 5 lines | Needs a Bonus symbol on each reel; sticky Thunder symbols on reel 2 | Four jackpots up to x1,000 |
| 4 Pots Riches: Hold and Win | 7 Aug 2025 | 5x3, 25 lines | Standard bonus plus a Super Bonus Game on a 5x5 field | Bonus Game Jackpots and a potential x10,000 Super Jackpot |
| 3 Roaring Bells: Hold and Win | 15 Oct 2026 | 3x3, 5 lines | Three respins, reset by each Bell; Expand, Double and Extra Special Bells | Mini, Minor, Major and Grand, up to 1,000x |
Two points matter for your expectations. First, these jackpots are fixed prizes written as multipliers, such as x1,000 or x10,000. They are not progressive pools that grow as other players stake, and we found no network progressive jackpot on the studio’s official pages. Second, the headline figures are ceilings, not typical results.
4 Pots Riches: Hold and Win, the 2025 Showcase
If you searched for “4 Pots Riches Hold and Win Playson”, this is the game. Released on 7 August 2025, it plays on a 5×3 grid with 25 lines, and a Super Bonus Game expands the field to 5×5 with a potential x10,000 Super Jackpot, according to the official game page.
At launch the studio called it “the latest addition to our popular pots and coins series”. Its game page links it to 3 Pots Riches: Hold and Win, and later pots titles such as 4 Chili Pots: Hold and Win and Lucky Pots x1000 have since joined the official games list.
That page lists Wild, Bonus, Clover Bonus and Super Clover Bonus symbols, standard and Super Hold and Win bonus games, Multi, Mystery, Collect and Golden Pot features, Bonus Game Jackpots and a Buy Bonus Feature. iGaming Business reported at launch that it is high volatility with five jackpot tiers, that six symbols trigger the bonus, which cannot be retriggered, and that filling all 25 cells wins the Super Jackpot. The same report gave an RTP of 95.70%; the official page gives none.
Because the top prize is a fixed multiplier, the Super Jackpot is not a progressive jackpot. It is also the rarest result in the game: you need the Super Bonus Game first, then a completely full 5×5 field.
Best Playson Slots: Eight Titles Compared
These are the titles the studio itself puts forward most often in launches, market entries and partner rollouts, so they are a fair starting point for the best Playson games. “Best” is our editorial pick, not an official ranking. Release dates and grids come from the official site. RTP, volatility and max win are not published there, so those columns show figures commonly listed by SlotCatalog, and by iGaming Business for 4 Pots Riches.
| Game | Released | Grid | RTP (commonly listed) | Volatility | Max win (commonly listed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solar Queen | 18 Jul 2019 | 5x4, 20 lines | 95.78% | Medium-high | 2,668x |
| Buffalo Power: Hold and Win | 2 Jul 2020 | 5x3, 20 lines | 95.04% | Medium | 1,187x |
| Book of Gold: Multichance | 20 Aug 2020 | 5x3, 10 lines | 95.40% | High | 6,550x |
| Legend of Cleopatra Megaways | 3 Dec 2020 | 6 reels, 2-7 rows, up to 200,704 ways | 95.84% | High | 6,584x |
| Royal Coins: Hold and Win | 26 Aug 2021 | 3x3, 5 lines | 95.64% | High | 4,259x |
| Coin Strike: Hold and Win | 27 Apr 2023 | 3x3, 5 lines | 95.66% | Medium-high | 5,150x |
| Thunder Coins: Hold and Win | 30 May 2024 | 3x3, 5 lines | Not found | Not found | Jackpots up to x1,000 (official) |
| 4 Pots Riches: Hold and Win | 7 Aug 2025 | 5x3, 25 lines | 95.70% (iGB) | High (iGB) | x10,000 Super Jackpot (official) |
Any list of “Playson best slots” is a matter of taste, but the pattern is clear: the small 3×3 Hold and Win games are the core of the range, while Book of Gold and Legend of Cleopatra suit players who prefer free spins or many ways to win. Where sources disagree, we use official data: SlotCatalog lists Solar Queen as 5×3, but the official page says 5×4.
If you want big ceilings, the next table lists the highest max wins commonly listed. It also shows the scatter-pays format, where Treasures of Fire: Scatter Pays pays for eight or more matching symbols anywhere on a 6×5 grid. Max win is a theoretical cap on one round, not a typical result.
| Game | Released | Format | RTP (commonly listed) | Volatility | Max win (commonly listed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Joker: Hold and Win | Mar 2023 (SlotCatalog) | Hold and Win, 3x3, 5 lines | 95.62% | High | 21,150x |
| Treasures of Fire: Scatter Pays | Nov 2022 (SlotCatalog) | Scatter pays, 6x5 | 95.51% | High | 20,000x |
| Wolf Power Megaways | Feb 2022 (SlotCatalog) | Megaways, 6x6, 46,656 ways | 96% | High | 20,000x |
| Golden Penny x1000 | 18 Sep 2025 (official) | Scatter pays cascade, 6x5 | Not found | Not stated | 20,000x (company release) |
| 3 Magic Lamps: Hold and Win | Feb 2024 (SlotCatalog) | Hold and Win | 95.76% | Medium-high | 16,746x |
| If you... | Try | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Want the classic Hold and Win loop on a small grid | Coin Strike or Thunder Coins | 3x3, five lines, and the bonus round is the main event |
| Want free spins with a respin bonus on top | Buffalo Power: Hold and Win | Stacked Wilds in free spins, and the bonus can trigger from either mode |
| Want an x10,000 fixed jackpot ceiling | 4 Pots Riches: Hold and Win | x10,000 Super Jackpot on a 5x5 Super Bonus field |
| Like book-style slots | Book of Gold: Multichance | 10 lines, commonly listed as high volatility |
| Want lots of ways to win | Legend of Cleopatra Megaways | Up to 200,704 ways per spin |
| Want the newest bonus design | 3 Roaring Bells: Hold and Win | Coloured Special Bells that expand, double or extend the round (Oct 2026) |
New Playson Slots in 2025 and 2026
The official games list carries no dates, so we have not counted the release rate. The table picks out recent launches, ending with the newest Hold and Win slot Playson launched, 3 Roaring Bells. Feature details are the company’s own, as published on its site or in releases reported by trade press.
| Date | Game | What is new |
|---|---|---|
| 7 Aug 2025 | 4 Pots Riches: Hold and Win | Super Bonus Game on a 5x5 field, x10,000 Super Jackpot |
| 18 Sep 2025 | Golden Penny x1000 | 6x5 scatter-pays cascade slot, x20,000 max win, two Bonus Buy options |
| Oct 2025 | Paddy Star: Smash and Win | Four jackpots from 10x to 1,000x; max win 2,129x |
| 13 Nov 2025 | More Energy Coins: Hold and Win | 5x4 grid, 10,000x Royal Jackpot, Extra Bet at 1.5x |
| 19 Feb 2026 | Sugar Teddy x1000 | Super Scatters |
| 17 Sep 2026 | Thunder Coins XXL: BoosterCells | Buy Bonus or Super Buy Bonus, plus two Extra Bet options |
| 15 Oct 2026 | 3 Roaring Bells: Hold and Win | Revamped bonus with Expand, Double and Extra Special Bells |
Playson RTP: What the Studio Publishes and What It Doesn't
RTP (return to player) is the share of all stakes a slot is designed to pay back over a very large number of spins. The official game pages give a release date, grid and line count, but no RTP, volatility or max win, and we found no company statement on whether its games come in more than one RTP version.
SlotCatalog says the studio “offers a wide range of RTPs in its games”, with the same game offered at different settings for different regulators. Its example is Sherwood Coins: Hold and Win, listed at 96.30%, 95.70%, 95.66%, 94.66%, 93% and 92.66%.
Its Royal Joker: Hold and Win page shows 95.62%, while one casino listing shows 92.62%. That is one catalogue’s data, not a company statement, but it shows why the figure at your casino matters. The seven games in our table with a listed figure sit between about 95.0% and 95.9%, though Wolf Power Megaways is listed at 96%.
What does that mean in money? On ยฃ1,000 of total stakes, a 95.04% setting (Buffalo Power: Hold and Win, as commonly listed) is designed to return about ยฃ950 on average, and a 95.84% setting (Legend of Cleopatra Megaways) about ยฃ958. These are long-run averages. A single session can end far above or below either figure, because one bonus round can change the result completely.
How to Check the RTP of a Playson Slot at Your Casino
-
Step 1
Open the Playson slot at the casino where you plan to play. If more than one setting exists, the casino chooses it, so a figure from a review site or another casino may not apply here.
-
Step 2
Before you spin, open the game menu and look for the paytable, the game rules or the "i" information button.
-
Step 3
Scroll through the rules until you find the theoretical RTP or return to player percentage.
-
Step 4
Compare it with the commonly listed figure in our table, for example 95.66% for Coin Strike: Hold and Win. A noticeably lower number means the casino runs a lower setting.
-
Step 5
If the figure is lower, or you cannot find one at all, check the same game at another licensed casino or ask customer support which RTP they use before you deposit.
Volatility, Fixed Jackpots and Your Bankroll
RTP decides how much you lose on average; volatility decides how bumpy the ride is. Most of the titles in our table are commonly listed as high or medium-high volatility, which means many spins return little or nothing while you wait for the bonus. At ยฃ0.50 a spin, 200 spins is ยฃ100 staked, and on a 95.66% setting the theoretical loss is about ยฃ4.34. A real run can end far worse than that.
Fixed jackpots make the ceiling clear, which is useful, but a x1,000 or x10,000 prize is a rare outcome, not a target. Every spin is independent, so a game is never “due” a bonus after a dry run. Set a deposit limit before you start and stop when the session budget is gone.
Playson Demo and Free Play: How to Try the Games Safely
Whether you search for a demo Playson slot or a Playson demo, you get play money: nothing you win has any cash value, and nothing can be withdrawn or moved to a real-money balance. The easiest place to try Playson free slots is our game reviews, where each review includes a free demo where the studio allows it.
- Age checks apply at casinos. UK-licensed casinos must verify your age before you can use free play, so expect to register first.
- The RTP may differ. A demo may not run the same setting as the casino where you later play for real, so check the rules again.
- Demos predict nothing. A lucky run in play money says nothing about your next real-money spin.
Playson free play is a good way to learn how a Hold and Win round resets, or what the Super Bonus Game in 4 Pots Riches looks like, before you stake anything. If free play starts making you want to chase real wins, our Responsible Gambling page lists tools and free support.
Playson Mobile: Playing on Your Phone
The company describes its portfolio as “regulated and mobile-focused”, but its pages publish no device or browser requirements and we have not run device tests. How a game feels depends on the title and the casino’s site or app, so try a demo on your own phone first.
Playson Licences: UKGC, MGA and Other Markets
Two regulatory statements appear in the footer of every playson.com page, and we checked both on the regulators’ own registers on 18 October 2026. We also found the company on the Swedish Gambling Authority‘s register. Everything else in the table below comes from the company’s own list or from trade press, and is labelled that way.
| Regulator | Status | Detail | How we know |
|---|---|---|---|
| UK Gambling Commission | Licensed | Account 41337, licence 041337-R-321523-017: Gambling Software (Remote) since 1 Jul 2015, Casino (Remote) since 14 Apr 2016; 0 regulatory actions | UKGC register (checked) |
| Malta Gaming Authority | Recognition notice RN/101/2018 | Granted 3 Dec 2018; B2B Critical Supply, Type 1, casino vertical. Recognises another authority's authorisation; not a separate MGA licence | MGA register (checked); date from the company's footer |
| Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen) | Licensed | Gambling software licence, valid 1 Jul 2023 to 30 Jun 2028 | Spelinspektionen register (checked) |
| AGCO (Ontario) | Online gaming licence reported | 1 Sep 2022; launch titles included Buffalo Power: Hold and Win | Trade press |
| Hellenic Gaming Commission (Greece) | Manufacturer licence reported | June 2021 | Trade press |
| Gibraltar | B2B licence reported | December 2023 | Trade press |
| MINCETUR (Peru) | Supplier licence reported | August 2024 | Trade press |
| Coljuegos (Colombia) | Certification reported | February 2026 | Trade press |
| PAGCOR (Philippines) | Approval | Reported May 2026; mentioned in Playson's 7 Oct 2026 release | Trade press and company site |
| Spillemyndigheden (Denmark) | Not on the supplier list | Denmark is not on Playson's market list either | Regulator list (checked) |
The UK entry is the strongest fact here, and you can check it yourself on the UKGC public register. The Malta entry is on the MGA’s recognition notice register. Our reviews of the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority explain what each means for players.
The company says its games are “certified and licensed for 30 jurisdictions”. Sweden is also confirmed: the Swedish licence register lists a gambling-software licence for the company, valid from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2028.
Its market list also includes Spain and Germany, which appear only in the company’s own materials, and Gibraltar, which appears there and in trade press. We did not find register entries for those three, so treat them as the company’s claims. Denmark is absent from both its market list and Spillemyndigheden‘s supplier list, so do not expect the company to hold a Danish supplier licence.
For testing, the site’s “Certified by” footer names Quinel, Gaming Associates, BMM and GLI, and trade press reported an ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certificate from Quinel in May 2024. We did not see the certificates themselves.
Where the Games Are Live: Markets and Partners
A studio licence lets casinos offer its games in a market; it does not license the casino. This is what the company has announced about key markets, as of 18 October 2026:
| Market | Basis | Recent partner news |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | UKGC account 41337 | Rank Group (Oct 2024), Midnite (Jan 2026), six Bally's Intralot brands (Apr 2026) |
| Ontario and Alberta | AGCO licence reported 2022; Alberta application described as ongoing in Oct 2026 | Caesars Digital in Ontario (Jun 2026); Betty Casino in Alberta (Aug 2026) |
| Latin America | Peru (2024), Brazil (2025) and Colombia (2026), as reported | Rush Street Interactive in Colombia (Feb 2026); Betnacional in Brazil (Mar 2026) |
| Philippines | PAGCOR approval (May 2026) | Delivered with Light & Wonder |
| Africa | Kenya, Uganda and South Africa on Playson's list | Betika in Kenya (Apr 2026), KingMakers in Nigeria (Jun 2026), Hollywoodbets (Jul 2026) and World Sports Betting (Oct 2026) in South Africa |
| United States | No state launch found in the sources we checked | None found |
Many of these launches run through partners. Light & Wonder signed a global distribution deal with the studio in January 2025, covering the UK, Canada and Latin America, but it is a distribution partner, not an owner. Relax Gaming‘s aggregation platform has carried its content to operators such as PokerStars and Bally’s Intralot. Always check that the casino itself is licensed where you live, which is why the list at the bottom of this page is filtered by location.
Network Promotions: Drops, Races and the EUR 25m Campaign
The studio also sells network promotions that casinos can switch on for its games. These are casino promotions, run under each casino’s terms, not a bonus you claim from the studio. The main ones, as described in company releases reported by trade press:
- Cash Blast, now Power Blast: random cash prizes during a promotion, which any player in an eligible game can trigger.
- Non-Stop Drops & Races: a EUR 10 million campaign that ran from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026, with prize drops the company put at every 2.5 minutes.
- BLASTS & RACES: the current campaign, with a EUR 25 million pool from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027. Tournaments became Grand Races and Short Races became Turbo Races.
- Flexible Free Spins: free spins that a casino can award on selected games, listed among the promo tools on the official site.
Before you take part, read the casino’s terms: eligible games, minimum stake, whether prizes are paid as cash or as bonus money with wagering, and which countries are excluded. Races and tournaments can push you to play longer than you planned, so set your budget first. Our bonuses and free spins guide explains wagering rules.
Is Playson Safe? Reputation and Track Record
On the record we could check, yes. The UKGC register lists active licences since 2015 and 2016 and shows 0 regulatory actions against the company. We found no fine, enforcement action or lawsuit naming the studio in the sources we checked, although we did not search every regulator’s records.
Sweden’s regulator opened one compliance case in 2025, after its games appeared on sites banned in Sweden. Playson said those were unauthorised copies it had not supplied, and the regulator closed the case in September 2025 with no further action.
One independent recognition we could confirm: at the SBC Awards 2026 in Lisbon (1 October 2026), Playson took Silver in the Casino / Slots Developer of the Year – Large category, behind Pragmatic Play, according to the SBC Awards winners page. Much of the other praise you will read comes from the company’s own press releases, so treat words like “data-proven” in trade coverage as company wording.
The weaker side is transparency rather than conduct. The owner is not published, the CEO title differs between two official pages, the game count is 90+ on one page and 115 on another, and the about page gives both 29 and 30 jurisdictions. None of this is a safety problem in itself, but it makes the studio harder to assess than those that publish more.
A studio licence tells you the games were tested and approved for a market. It does not tell you which RTP setting your casino runs, or whether that casino is licensed where you live. Check the casino as carefully as the game.
— FAQsino Slots & Studio DeskPlayson Casinos: How to Choose One
There is no Playson casino run by the studio. Every casino that carries its games is a separate operator that holds your money, sets the RTP where a choice exists and handles withdrawals. Playson online slots reach you only through these operators, so the best Playson slot sites are not simply the ones with the biggest lobby. Check these points before you sign up:
- A licence where you live. In Great Britain that means the UKGC; in Ontario, the AGCO. UK players are better protected on UKGC-licensed sites.
- The RTP in the game rules. Open two or three of its slots and compare the figure with our table.
- Payout terms. Look for clear withdrawal limits, timescales and verification rules.
- Safer-gambling tools. Deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion should be easy to find.
- Promotion terms. If the casino runs the studio’s prize drops or races, read the wagering and eligibility rules.
Top Playson Online Casinos and Mobile Options: Our List
Rather than hand-pick names as the top Playson slot sites, we list every casino we have reviewed that carries its games in the “Casinos with Playson Games” section at the bottom of this page. It is ranked by FAQsino Trust Score and geo-targeted, so you only see casinos relevant to where you are. The same list answers the search for top mobile Playson casinos: open a casino’s review to see whether it has an app or a mobile site.
Playson Slots With Bitcoin: What to Know
Its own pages say nothing about cryptocurrency. The studio supplies games to operators and does not take player deposits, so whether you can play Playson slots with Bitcoin depends entirely on the casino’s cashier. Payment rules differ between regulated markets, so check the casino’s licence and payment terms before you deposit any way.
Playson Poker, Playson Bet and the Official Website
Playson poker: the studio makes no poker product today. All 115 titles on its official games page are slots, and we found no evidence in the sources we checked that it ever offered poker-room software. The search term most likely comes from its January 2024 deal with PokerStars, under which the PokerStars casino added its slots through Relax Gaming, starting with Solar King.
Playson bet: we found no betting brand in any source we read. The company is a B2B supplier, and sportsbook operators such as World Sports Betting in South Africa carry its slots in their casino sections.
Playson official website: Playson’s official website is playson.com. It is a business site for operators: you can read game pages and news, but there is no real-money play. Several pages using the name on unrelated domains surfaced in our searches, and we found no sign that any of them is run by the company. To play Playson games online for real money, you need a licensed casino.
How to Recognise a Playson Slot
Casino lobbies do not always name the developer. These clues help you spot Playson slot machines:
- The name suffix: “: Hold and Win”, “Hit the Bonus”, “Super Wheel” or “x1000” after a familiar title.
- Coins, pots and clovers: recurring symbols across the Coin Strike, Thunder Coins and Pots Riches families.
- Small grids: many of its best-known games use a 3×3 grid with five paylines, where the respin bonus is the main event.
- Fixed jackpot labels such as Mini, Minor, Major and Grand shown inside the bonus round.
- The loading screen, which normally carries the studio’s logo before the game starts.
Playson vs Play'n GO, Pragmatic Play and Quickspin
How the studio compares with three slot studios we have already reviewed, using what each company publishes:
| Developer | Main focus | RTP on its own game pages | Ownership (as published) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Playson | Slots built around Hold and Win | No | Not published |
| Play'n GO | Slots, plus three table games | No; in the game only | Not published |
| Pragmatic Play | Slots, live casino and more | Yes, one figure per game page | Private investor group led by Veridian (Gibraltar) Limited |
| Quickspin | Slots | Yes, every model on public game sheets | Playtech group, 100% since 2016 |
The closest like-for-like comparison is the coin-respin bonus. Pragmatic Play‘s Wolf Gold uses a Money Respin with three jackpots, including a 1,000x Mega Jackpot for filling all 15 positions, and Play’n GO has a Hold’n Spin feature in Crabby’s Gold. The difference is scale: this studio has made this format the centre of its catalogue. On transparency it sits with Play’n GO, behind Pragmatic Play and Quickspin, which publish RTP figures. What We Could Not Verify
Being clear about gaps is part of a fair review. As of 18 October 2026 we could not confirm:
- Who owns the company, its founders, or its revenue.
- The current CEO title, given the conflict between the leadership page and the October 2026 release.
- Official RTP figures, which settings each casino runs, and the RTP of Thunder Coins: Hold and Win.
- Register entries outside the UK, Sweden and Malta, including Ontario, Gibraltar, Spain and Germany.
- How Megaways is licensed to the studio, and its bonus-buy policy by market.
- Its release rate, because the official games list carries no dates.
Our Verdict: Who Should Play Playson Slots?
This is a focused, UK-licensed slot studio that knows exactly what it is good at. If you enjoy Hold and Win bonuses, the catalogue offers many variations, from the compact Coin Strike and Thunder Coins to the 5×5 Super Bonus Game in 4 Pots Riches, and the jackpot ceilings are fixed and clearly labelled.
The catch is information. With no RTP on its own pages, commonly listed figures mostly at or below 96%, and an owner it does not name, you have to do more checking yourself than with studios that publish their maths. Learn the bonus in a demo, check the RTP in the game rules at any of the Playson casinos you consider, and set a deposit limit before you play for real money.
