Who Is Thunderkick? The Stockholm Studio Profile

The studio says it “set out in 2012 as a small studio” and marked its tenth birthday in March 2022. Swedish company register data shows Thunderkick AB registered on 28 January 2012, with a head office at Vasagatan 11 in central Stockholm. Every source we checked agrees on 2012.

The studio describes itself as independent. Its careers page calls it “an independent casino game supplier”, and in June 2025 its Chief Commercial Officer wrote that it “has always been independent”. It publishes no owners, and we found no acquisition, investment round or stock-market listing. The Swedish register data says the company belongs to a group with two subsidiaries but does not name them.

According to Swedish company register data, Sven Grip is CEO and chairman. The official site does not name a CEO, but trade press quoted “CEO Sven Grip” in 2023 and 2024. The executives the company names itself include Svante Sahlström (Chief Commercial Officer since January 2024, previously at ELK Studios), Fredrik Lagerträd (Chief Technology Officer, announced February 2026) and Wan Kim (Chief Compliance Officer).

The About page says the team has grown to “more than 80” people in Stockholm, and in mid-2025 the company said it was “closing in on 100 employees”. It says it outsources no production step: design, art, sound, maths and code are all done in-house. Filed accounts, as reported by Allabolag, put the company’s turnover at about SEK 170 million for 2024 and SEK 142.5 million for 2025.

Thunderkick Software: How a B2B Slot Studio Reaches Casinos

If you searched for a “Thunderkick gaming solutions provider”, here is what that means in practice. It is a B2B content supplier: it makes games and licenses them to casino operators, who add them to their lobbies. It does not sell a casino platform, payments or a sportsbook. Thunderkick casino software, in that sense, means its slot catalogue plus the remote game server (RGS) the games run on. A 2021 company post says its “Games and RGS Engine” were made compliant for the Dutch market.

Operators get Thunderkick gambling software in two ways: direct integration, or through aggregators that bundle many studios. The aggregators and platforms named in its own news include Relax Gaming, EveryMatrix, Alea, Reevo, Gamingtec, Relum and the Elantil marketplace. Its titles are also on Livespins, a streaming product owned by Evolution. That is a distribution deal only: Evolution does not own the studio.

Thunderkick Games: What the Catalogue Includes

Thunderkick games are almost all video slots. The studio counted its 100th game in April 2026, and its news page has announced eight more since then, so roughly 108 by the company’s own way of counting (that last figure is our arithmetic). Its games page lists 106 public game pages, including seasonal editions and “Reborn” versions of older hits.

Formats vary more than the catalogue size suggests: classic paylines, 4,096-way grids, 7×7 and 8×8 cluster pays, hexagonal grids and reels that change height. Its one non-slot product is Heads Will Roll (September 2025), a crash game played with a die, where four difficulty levels set the top multiplier from 35x to 2,400x.

• No live casino or table games: we found none on its site.
• No Megaways: the word does not appear on any page of its site we read. Big-ways games such as Carnival Queen 2 use the studio’s own variable reel heights.
• No progressive jackpots: we found no shared jackpot pool. The “Jackpot Fish” in Bass Hunter and the fixed 5,000x “Grand Jackpot” in Milk the Cow are game features, not progressives.
• Bonus Buy depends on the market: the company says Ante Bet and Bonus Buy options are available “in regulated markets where legislation allows”. SlotCatalog notes that the buy is not available under UKGC rules on games such as Bones & Bounty.

Signature Mechanics: Mucho Multipliers, Wild Fields and More

Mucho Multiplier and Explosivo Wilds define the Esqueleto Explosivo series. Winning symbols drop away, new ones fall in, and each win doubles the multiplier, up to 1,024x in the third game. Exploding Wilds and a Multiplier Grid drive Hot Potato and its spin-offs: a wild clears a 3×3 area and leaves multipliers of up to 128x behind.

Newer ideas include the Wild Field, where two wilds connect into a rectangle of wilds (Archie O’Loggins, Milk the Cow, Second Thunder), and Occurrence Pay in Temple of Akhet, which pays symbols by how often they appear. In March 2026 the CCO said “pot games” would be the studio’s next new functionality, with 3 Wildos the first and a three-pot Midas game to follow.

Franchises are deliberate. The same interview called sequels “the major trend”, and the release list shows it: three Esqueleto Explosivo games plus a Christmas edition, three Wildos games, three Pink Elephants games and four Midas Golden Touch titles plus a Christmas edition.

Thunderkick Ante Bets and Bonus Buy: What the Studio Says

Several recent Thunderkick games add optional ante bets, and some a Bonus Buy, where local rules allow. In The Golden Pot & Pints (March 2025) the studio lists a Bonus Buy and four ante bets. Bonus Boost and Bonus Boost Plus raise the chance of triggering free spins two and five times, Wild Mode guarantees a win with a wild and triples the chance of the feature, and Bonus Boost Extreme activates the feature about once every 10 spins on average.

Second Thunder (February 2026) adds Thunderstorm spins, which create a Wild Field on every bet, and Presence of Thor spins, which guarantee its Feature Row is active. Pink Elephants Trinity’s four ante bets raise the chance of entering the bonus by three to 144 times, and Midas Golden Touch 3 and Milk the Cow each list six bonus buy and ante bet options.

The releases do not state what each option costs, so read the game rules first. These options make you spend faster, so set your budget before you use them.

Thunderkick Mobile: Playing on Your Phone

The studio does not publish an HTML5 or device statement on the pages we read. It does say it tests every game “internally, externally, across devices and markets”. In practice you play a Thunderkick online slot inside a casino’s mobile site or app, so how it feels depends partly on that casino.

We found no official player app from the studio. Because the studio only supplies casinos, treat any page offering a “Thunderkick app” download with suspicion. We have not run our own device tests, so we do not rate its mobile performance above the studios that publish a mobile-first commitment.

The studio lists an RTP, a volatility figure and a “max exposure” (maximum win) for every public game. Almost all show a single RTP; four show a range or an “up to” figure.

The first table covers 25 notable games from 2014 to 2024. Release dates come from the studio’s own launch posts where it published one. Dates marked * come from SlotCatalog, and “c.” marks the month of the studio’s pre-launch countdown post. Rows marked Reborn use the figures on the game’s current “Reborn” page. The studio does not explain what changed in those versions.

New Thunderkick Slots: 2025 and 2026 Releases

Counting the company’s own launch posts, the studio released 10 games in 2025 (nine slots and one crash game) and 12 between January and 9 October 2026. Dates are the launch post dates.

The exact date of 3 Wildos was not published: its teaser ran on 25 March and the 100th-game post came on 22 April. Game pages for two more hexagonal cluster slots, Greedy Pumpking and Shark Park, are already on the site, but we found no launch announcement for either yet. A teaser headed “Something hungry is coming this Halloween” was posted on 2 October 2026.

Thunderkick Halloween and Christmas Slots

Thunderkick picked four Halloween games (October 2025) and four Christmas games (November 2025) in its own news posts. The figures are from each game’s page. Note the gap: Midas Golden Touch Christmas Edition shows 96.17%, while Feliz Navidead, the Christmas edition of a newer game, shows 94.22%.

There is no single ranking of the best Thunderkick slots, so here are our criteria. We picked games that the studio names as player favourites, that started or define a series, or that stand out on the official maths: highest RTP, lowest volatility or biggest max win.

Esqueleto Explosivo Thunderkick Series: 1, 2 and 3 Compared

The studio calls Esqueleto Explosivo “undoubtedly our most successful” series. The company’s own press release calls them a Day of the Dead trilogy. All three games share a mariachi skeleton band, dropping symbols and the Mucho Multiplier, which doubles with each win. Each sequel raised the ceiling: the original’s top multiplier was 32x with a 700x win potential, while the third game reaches 1,024x and 7,500x. The studio says Esqueleto Explosivo 3 has had “the highest retention and session length of any Thunderkick game”.

Which one suits you? The original is officially low volatility and pays small wins more often, at 96.0% RTP. Esqueleto Explosivo 3 swaps paylines for 5×5 cluster pays and is high volatility, and its official page shows 94.22%.

Frog Grog Thunderkick Slot: A Low-Volatility Classic

Frog Grog is a witch’s-brew slot on 5 reels with 23 lines. The official page lists Wild Frogs, a Mystery Game and an increasing multiplier, with 96.1% RTP, low volatility and a 1,616x max win. SlotCatalog dates it to October 2016 and labels it medium-high volatility. We use the studio’s own “Low” rating.

If you want long sessions with smaller, steadier wins, Frog Grog is one of the better fits in the catalogue. Just do not expect the five-figure multipliers of the newer games.

The Rift Thunderkick Slot: Guaranteed Wilds, Modest Ceiling

The Rift is a 3×5 slot with 17 paylines and an arcane, back-alley theme. Rift Spins add guaranteed Wilds, and the Bonus Game uses Sticky Wilds. The official page gives 96.3% RTP, low volatility and an 815x max win. SlotCatalog dates its release to May 2016.

The 815x ceiling looks small next to newer releases, but it fits a low-volatility game. Choose The Rift for frequent features, not for a life-changing top prize.

Pink Elephants, Midas Golden Touch and Beat the Beast

Pink Elephants debuted in November 2017, the company says, on 6 reels with 4,096 ways and a mystery scatter (96.1%, 8,200x). Pink Elephants 2 raised the max win to 10,000x, and Pink Elephants Trinity (November 2025) adds a six-level bonus that can open a seventh reel for 16,384 ways.

Midas Golden Touch is a 5×3, 15-line game with Multiplier Wilds. Its Reborn page shows 96.17% and 10,100x. The sequels show 94.27% (2), 94.16% (3) and 94.22% (Thunder Pots).

Beat the Beast is a series of very high volatility games, mostly on 9 paylines, that began in February 2020 with Kraken’s Lair, according to SlotCatalog. The studio billed Griffin’s Gold (11 November 2020) as “the fifth slot” and “the grand finale” of the series, but Dragon’s Wrath added another game in 2024. Griffin’s Gold has a 22,222x max win on its Reborn page, and the studio says it has “a serious cult following”.

Hot Potato, Bjorn and 3 Wildos: The Modern Style

Hot Potato (November 2023) put 7×7 cluster pays and Exploding Wilds at the centre, with a Multiplier Grid up to 128x. The CCO called it “such a huge success” that it led to the Christmas spin-off Hot Turkey. Hot Potato Battleground followed in September 2026.

Bjorn (9 October 2026) is the newest release: an 8×8 cluster game in which Loot, Abilities and a Global Multiplier build during avalanches. It is officially very high volatility, with 94.22% RTP and a 5,000x max win.

3 Wildos, game number 100, takes the bandit trio to the pyramids on 5 reels and 9 lines. It has Multiplier Wilds and three Free Spins modes, and its bonus has Sticky Multiplier Wilds (94.20%, high, 5,000x).

Thunderkick RTP: Why Newer Games Show About 94%

RTP (return to player) is the share of all money staked that a slot is designed to pay back over millions of spins. The studio is unusually open here: every public game page shows an RTP, a volatility rating and a maximum win. That is more than many studios publish on their own sites.

The numbers have shifted, though. We counted all 106 public game pages. Of these, 33 show an RTP between 94.08% and 94.34%, 2 show 95.x%, 67 show 96% or more and 4 show a range or “up to” figure. The 94% group is mostly releases from 2024 onwards, plus a few older or re-released titles such as Jin Chan’s Pond of Riches (94.27%) and Carnival Queen Reborn (94.16%). Of the 2026 releases we checked, only Pan’s Arcadia (96.10%) is above 95%.

What the studio does not say is whether these figures are the only version. It publishes no statement about operator-selectable RTP settings. SlotCatalog, however, lists several versions for some games, and says that in most cases four or five versions were released, ranging from about 90% to 96.5%. Its own game pages, however, list versions as low as about 87% for Hot Potato and Bones & Bounty.

Highest RTP and Biggest Max Win on the Official Pages

Using only the studio’s own figures, these are the extremes among its slots (the crash game Heads Will Roll lists “up to 97.59%”). Bear in mind that a max win is a rare ceiling, not a target.

Volatility and Your Bankroll

RTP sets how much you lose on average; volatility sets how bumpy the ride is. At £1 a spin, 100 spins means £100 staked. On a 96.16% game the theoretical loss is about £3.84, and on a 94.22% game about £5.78. That is about 50% more for the same play. A real run of 100 spins can end far from either figure.

Nearly every 2025–2026 release is rated high or very high volatility. Long dry spells are normal and the big prizes come from rare features.

Across the Thunderkick catalogue, 103 of the 106 public pages carry a volatility label: 14 Low, 14 Medium, 48 High and 27 Very High. Both UK licences are active, and the register lists no regulatory actions against either entity. The Malta Gaming Authority’s public enforcement register, which lists sanctions rather than licences, showed no entry for the studio when our research read it. That is not a guarantee. We found no fine, lawsuit or regulator warning naming the company in the trade press we checked.

What We Could Not Verify

As of 17 October 2026 we could not confirm:

• Who owns the studio, or who founded it. The company publishes neither. Some review sites say former NetEnt staff founded it; we found no primary source.
• Official RTP versions. The studio publishes one figure for almost every game. Whether the 94% figures on newer pages are the default or one of several is not stated.
• Licence numbers for Sweden, Denmark and Ontario, and any MGA licence.
• A named test laboratory or certificates (the client area that holds them is login-only).
• What the Malta company’s UK “Casino” licence covers, and what “Reborn” changes in older games.

Our Verdict on Thunderkick

This is a small studio with a big personality. Esqueleto Explosivo, Pink Elephants and Midas Golden Touch still hold up, the release pace is steady at about one game a month, and it publishes RTP, volatility and max win for every game, which many larger studios do not.

The catch is that most Thunderkick slots released since 2024 show about 94% RTP on their official pages, and casinos may run other versions. Pick an older classic if a higher published RTP matters to you, check the in-game figure at any of the Thunderkick casinos you use, and set a deposit limit before you start.
