Neteller is a digital wallet owned by Paysafe, the group that also runs Skrill. Founded in 1999, it has been closely tied to online gambling ever since. You load money from a card, bank or local method, pay casinos and bookmakers with your email and password, and collect winnings in the same balance. This review takes the casino player’s side.
Short answer: it is a regulated e-money wallet (the FCA for UK and rest-of-world customers, the Central Bank of Ireland for the EEA) that makes casino deposits usually instant and keeps your card and bank numbers away from the casino. It is not cheap: topping up costs 2.5% with most methods and cashing out to a bank costs 2.8%. Its gambling block, which takes 48 hours to switch off, is a genuinely useful safeguard.
Every figure below comes from the wallet’s fee page, terms and help centre, regulator records and Paysafe filings, checked on 20 October 2026.
Neteller at a glance (checked 20 October 2026)
What Is Neteller and How Does It Work?
It is an electronic money account, not a bank account. Its terms say so plainly: no interest, no government insurance, and the company is not a trustee of your balance.
You open a free personal account (18+, one per person, details matching your ID), add money, then pick the wallet in a casino cashier and log in to approve. According to its help centre, the merchant does not receive your card or bank account number, and payments from your balance are “usually instant”.
Each account has one primary currency chosen at sign-up, which cannot be switched later. Extra balances in other currencies come through the Exchange feature, but the Net+ card and crypto trades only use the primary balance.
Who Runs the Wallet and Who Regulates It
Paysafe’s 2025 annual report (Form 20-F) lists it as one of its three digital wallet brands, alongside Skrill and PagoEfectivo. Your account is provided by one of two Paysafe companies, depending on where you live.
| Company | Who it serves | Regulator and register number |
|---|---|---|
| Paysafe Financial Services Limited, London (company 4478861) | UK and every serviced country outside the EEA | FCA, electronic money institution, FRN 900015 |
| Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited, Dublin (company 626665) | Residents of the 30 EEA countries | Central Bank of Ireland, ref. C184986: e-money institution and MiCA crypto-asset service provider |
We read the Irish entry on the Central Bank of Ireland register. FRN 900015 appears as an Authorised Electronic Money Institution (status effective 16 March 2018) in the FCA’s e-money register file and on Paysafe’s regulatory disclosures.
Is Neteller Safe? What Protection You Actually Get
As an e-money institution, the company must safeguard customer money: it is held in a separate bank account, or covered by a guarantee or insurance policy, and is “not generally available to our creditors”. That is real protection if the firm fails.
It is not deposit insurance. E-money is not covered by the UK’s Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS); for UK and rest-of-world customers, the help centre warns that an administrator’s fees may come out of safeguarded funds and that repayment “may take longer”. The EEA terms say accounts are “not insured by any government agency”. Keep a balance for spending, not saving.
Logins use a password, a six-digit Secure ID, one-time codes or app approval, and passkeys. The record is not spotless: Paysafe disclosed in 2015 that a 2010 attack exposed data from about 3.6 million accounts, about 1,500 of which were compromised and reimbursed. We found no later incident in the sources we checked.
Customer reviews are harsh: 2.1 out of 5 from 2,921 Trustpilot reviews on 20 October 2026, mostly about restricted or closed accounts and repeated document requests. As the UK Financial Ombudsman noted in 2025, the terms allow closure on two months’ notice, or immediately in certain circumstances.
Timeline: From 1999 to MiCA
These dates come from primary sources unless marked.
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 1999 | Founded in Canada by Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre (US DOJ; Paysafe 20-F) |
| July 2000 | NETeller Inc. starts providing payment services (US DOJ) |
| 14 April 2004 | NETeller PLC, based in the Isle of Man, lists on London's AIM market (US DOJ) |
| January 2007 | Both founders arrested on US charges; both plead guilty that summer (US DOJ) |
| 18 July 2007 | Deferred prosecution agreement: $136m forfeited, about $94m to be returned to US customers (US DOJ) |
| 2010 (disclosed 2015) | Data breach affecting about 3.6 million accounts (Paysafe) |
| 2015 | The owner, by then called Optimal Payments, buys the Skrill group and becomes Paysafe Group (reported) |
| 19 October 2018 | In-wallet crypto buying and selling launches (Paysafe) |
| 31 March 2021 | Paysafe starts trading on the New York Stock Exchange |
| 27 April 2021 | Lifetime account levels, including Neteller True, and Knect loyalty points launch (Paysafe) |
| 3 December 2025 | Irish entity authorised as a MiCA crypto-asset service provider (Central Bank of Ireland register) |
| 1 January 2026 | Bulgarian lev accounts converted to euros |
| 12 January 2026 | Bank withdrawal fee set at 2.8%, minimum USD 3.50 |
The 2007 case, plainly: both founders pleaded guilty in the US to conspiracy charges linked to processing US gambling payments. Under a deferred prosecution agreement, the company agreed to forfeit $136 million, return about $94 million to US customers, retain a monitor for at least 18 months and accept permanent restrictions, including no illegal gambling transactions involving people in the US. Today the help centre says US-issued cards cannot be used to deposit.
Neteller Casinos: Deposits and Withdrawals Are Not Mirror Images
Using Neteller for gambling is an allowed, advertised use: its help centre talks about paying “gaming and betting” merchants and receiving winnings. At online casinos with Neteller, money comes out the way it went in, but the two directions run on different clocks and fee rules.
- Deposits happen on the wallet’s side. Once your balance is funded, paying the casino is usually instant and carries no wallet fee; loading the balance (2.5% with most methods) and any currency conversion still cost money.
- Withdrawals start on the casino’s side. It approves the request, runs its checks and any pending period, then pays your balance, which costs 0% to receive.
- Cashing out of the wallet is a third step with its own fee and timing.
How to Make a Casino Deposit with Neteller
-
Step 1
Fund your balance under Money In by debit card, bank transfer or a local method. If you use a card, answer yes to the gambling question, or that money cannot be used at casinos.
-
Step 2
In the casino cashier, choose Neteller and enter the amount. Make sure your name and details at the casino match your wallet account.
-
Step 3
Log in in the window that opens, then choose to pay from your balance or from a saved funding option.
-
Step 4
Click Pay now and complete the security check (a code, your Secure ID or an app notification). Ticking Trust this recipient skips the check next time.
-
Step 5
Check your casino balance. If the payment failed, see the troubleshooting table below.
The Gambling Question on Every Card Top-Up
Every card deposit asks whether the money is for gambling. Money tagged as non-gambling cannot be used at betting, casino or poker merchants, and the tag cannot be changed later.
The card network matters too. Visa money tagged for gambling can be used for anything. Mastercard money tagged for gambling can be paid only to the gambling merchants on the wallet’s own list (not to other merchants) and cannot be withdrawn to a crypto wallet. That list looks dated, so if a Mastercard-funded payment is refused, top up by Visa debit or bank transfer.
| Credit card issued in | Can it fund gambling? |
|---|---|
| United Kingdom, Sweden, Belgium, Australia | No, for gambling anywhere in the world |
| Other countries | May be prohibited depending on your country of residence |
| Any country | Credit-card money cannot be used on UK or Australian gambling sites |
Separately, UK-licensed casinos have been barred since 14 April 2020 from accepting credit card payments, including via a money service business, under UK Gambling Commission licence condition 6.1.2. Debit cards, bank transfers and your existing balance are unaffected.
Neteller Withdrawal at Casinos: Two Stages, Two Clocks
A Neteller withdrawal from a casino has two stages. First the casino processes your request: its pending period, identity checks and payment team. Second, once the casino releases the money, the help centre says transfers from most merchant sites “take no time at all”.
So an “instant Neteller withdrawal casino” really means a casino that approves quickly. One UK betting site, Sports Mole, reported bookmaker payout times from a few hours to five business days; we have no comparable casino data, so treat any quoted Neteller withdrawal time as one site’s figure. Our fast withdrawal casinos guide explains what speeds up the casino stage.
Two things trip players up: the casino must hold the same email as your wallet, and your name and details must match. The help centre also advises taking casino money to your balance first, not straight to a bank.
| Route | Typical time | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Bank account in your own name | 1 to 5 business days | 2.8%, minimum USD 3.50 |
| Visa card (Original Credit Transaction) | Up to 3 business days | 0% to 7.5%, shown on screen |
| Mastercard (Money Send) | Up to 3 business days | 0% to 7.5%, shown on screen |
| Skrill wallet | Instant (web only) | 3.49% |
| Crypto wallet (selected countries) | Usually 5 to 60 minutes | 2% plus network fee |
Neteller Withdrawal to Debit Card
You can pay out to a personal Visa or Mastercard, including a debit card, once your account is verified. Visa payouts use Original Credit Transactions and Mastercard ones use Money Send; if your issuer does not support these, the payout fails and you need another route. Some issuing countries are not supported for Mastercard, and weekly or monthly limits may apply.
Is There a Neteller Maximum Withdrawal?
There is no single public number. The fee page says minimum and maximum withdrawal limits apply under clause 6.13 of the terms, and each route’s limit is shown on screen in Money Out. Limits run on rolling daily, weekly and monthly periods and rise as you verify. VIP status raises limits but “does not automatically remove” them. Your casino’s own withdrawal cap applies on top.
How to Withdraw Casino Winnings via the Wallet
-
Step 1
Finish the casino's own verification before you ask for a payout. It is usually the slowest part.
-
Step 2
In the casino cashier, choose the wallet as your withdrawal method and enter the email address on your account.
-
Step 3
Wait for the casino to approve and send the money. It lands in your balance with no wallet fee for receiving it.
-
Step 4
Open Money Out and choose bank, card, Skrill or crypto. Check the fee and limit on screen, then confirm with your Secure ID.
Neteller Fees: The Official Schedule and a Worked Example
This table comes from the official fee page on 20 October 2026. Fees are charged in your account currency, and the exact rate is shown before you confirm.
| Action | Fee |
|---|---|
| Top up by card, bank transfer, Trustly, iDEAL, Rapid Transfer and most methods | 2.5% |
| Top up by PaysafeCard | 0% to 5% |
| Pay a casino or other merchant from your balance | Free |
| Receive a casino payout | 0% (the casino may charge) |
| Withdraw to a bank account | 2.8%, minimum USD 3.50 |
| Withdraw to Visa or Mastercard | 0% to 7.5% |
| Send to another member | 2.99% (1.45% at Neteller True), minimum USD 0.50 |
| Currency conversion | Up to 4.49% on top of the wallet's rate (VIP as low as 1%) |
| Inactivity (no login or transaction for 6 months) | USD 5 a month |
| Card chargeback (terms) | GBP 25 |
Worked Example: One Casino Session, Start to Finish
Say your account and the casino both use pounds, and you top up ยฃ100 by debit card (the summary screen shows whether the fee is added or deducted).
- Top-up fee at 2.5%: ยฃ2.50
- Deposit ยฃ100 at the casino from your balance: ยฃ0
- You win and the casino pays ยฃ300 into the wallet: ยฃ0 on the wallet’s side
- Withdraw ยฃ300 to your bank at 2.8%: ยฃ8.40
Total wallet fees for the round trip: ยฃ10.90. If the casino works in euros while your account is in pounds, add up to 4.49% on each conversion. For small cash-outs the minimum takes over: below about USD 125, 2.8% is less than USD 3.50, so the minimum applies. Fewer, larger withdrawals save money; just log in at least every six months to avoid the inactivity fee.
| Player | Top-ups | Bank cash-outs | Wallet fees | Share of top-ups |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Occasional | USD 50 a month (USD 600) | One of USD 600 at 2.8% | USD 31.80 | 5.3% |
| Regular | USD 200 a month (USD 2,400) | USD 200 a month at 2.8% | USD 127.20 | 5.3% |
| Small and often | USD 100 a month (USD 1,200) | USD 100 a month, so the USD 3.50 minimum applies | USD 72.00 | 6.0% |
How to Choose Online Casinos That Accept Neteller
The wallet publishes no directory of casinos that accept it (its only list is a dated Mastercard gambling-merchant list), so finding a good online casino with Neteller means checking the casino. Neteller casinos should pass the same tests as any operator, in this order:
- Licence first. The casino must be licensed for your country, such as by the UKGC in Britain. On the UKGC public register you can search by business name, trading name or domain name and check the licence status and any regulatory action. The wallet’s terms say acceptance is no sign a merchant is legal. Our gambling authorities hub covers other regulators.
- Both directions. Look for casinos with Neteller deposit and withdrawal support in the cashier.
- Fees, limits and payout times. Check the casino’s minimum deposit, any fee it adds and its pending period.
- Bonus terms. Some operators exclude e-wallet deposits from welcome offers. One betting site reported this at several UK bookmakers; we have not verified it for casinos, so read the “excluded payment methods” line and the wagering requirements. Our bonuses and free spins section explains how.
- Safer-gambling tools. Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion at the casino itself.
Rather than hand-picking a “top online casino that accepts Neteller”, we let the data decide. The Top 5 Casinos Accepting Neteller panel directly below ranks Neteller casinos online by FAQsino Trust Score and adapts to your country. For more casino sites with Neteller, browse our casino reviews.
Our Neteller Casino Test: How We Evaluated the Wallet
We did not open an account or move real money for this review. On 20 October 2026 we read the fee page, terms, help centre, the FCA and Central Bank of Ireland records, Paysafe’s filings and the 2007 US Department of Justice releases, compared every fee with Skrill’s official schedule and scored the six rating categories from that evidence. Casino-level checks sit in each casino review, where the FAQsino Trust Score is calculated automatically.
Neteller Sports Betting Sites and New Bookmakers
Neteller betting works like casino play: the wallet pays bookmakers that accept Neteller, and winnings return to your balance. Betting sites that use Neteller and sportsbooks that accept Neteller need the same checks as casinos: licence, both payment directions and bonus terms. Before sports betting with Neteller at a brand you do not know, confirm its licence on the regulator’s register.
The gambling-purpose tag and credit-card rules above apply to all Neteller gambling sites, from an online casino to a Neteller sportsbook. New Neteller betting sites need extra care, with no payout track record yet.
Neteller Gambling Block, Limits and Other Controls
The wallet has an optional gambling block, also called Spending control. Switch it on under Settings, Verification & features, Spending control (web or app), or ask support. While it is on, any payment to a merchant with a gambling merchant category code is declined, from your balance and with the Net+ card.
The key detail is the delay: turning the block off takes 48 hours to take effect, time to change your mind after a bad session. Know its gaps too:
- Card top-ups into the wallet tagged for gambling are not blocked.
- Payouts from casinos still arrive in your balance.
- Recurring payments set up before the block keep running.
It covers this wallet only, so pair it with a gambling block on your bank card and deposit limits at each casino. The help centre points to Gamblers Anonymous or local services. Gambling is for adults 18+ only. In Great Britain the free National Gambling Helpline is open 24/7 on 0808 8020 133; our responsible gambling guide lists more tools and helplines.
A 48-hour delay turns a speed bump into a real pause, and that pause is the whole point.
— FAQsino Payments DeskNeteller vs Skrill: Same Owner, Different Small Print
Skrill is the sister wallet: both belong to Paysafe, both use the same Irish company for EEA customers, and money can move between them. Headline fees are nearly identical; the differences sit in the small print and in who serves you outside the EEA.

|---|---|---|
| UK and rest-of-world provider | Paysafe Financial Services Ltd, FRN 900015 | Skrill Limited, FRN 900001 (move to FRN 900015 planned around 1 February 2027) |
| EEA provider | Paysafe Payment Solutions Ltd (C184986) | Same company |
| US customers | No US company named; US-issued cards cannot deposit | Served by Skrill USA, Inc. |
| Card top-up | 2.5% | 2.50% |
| Pay a casino from balance | Free | Free |

In practice the choice comes down to which wallet your casino takes for both deposits and withdrawals, and whether its bonus terms exclude one of them. For other options, see our MuchBetter review or the e-wallets hub; card payments are covered in our Visa and Mastercard reviews.
How to Buy Bitcoin with Neteller and Withdraw Crypto
A crypto trading service runs inside the wallet in 80 countries listed on its help page, including the UK and most of the EEA but not the US, Canada or India; if you see a Trade section, it is available to you. In the EEA it runs under Paysafe’s MiCA authorisation; for the UK, the fee page notes that cryptocurrencies are unregulated.
Is there a Neteller crypto wallet? No. The help centre says you cannot create a crypto wallet within your account. Coins sit in a portfolio held by the service. It does not yet support depositing coins from an outside wallet into that portfolio, or spending the crypto balance online, so it cannot pay a casino.
Buying coins: open Crypto, then Trade, choose Buy with an Instant order, and check the rate, fee and total before confirming. The fee is 1.5% for standard accounts, plus 1.5% FX if your account is not in euros, and tax residency details are required. The same steps let you buy crypto with Neteller across dozens of coins.
Neteller crypto withdrawal: in eligible countries, Money Out then Crypto wallet sends coins, or fiat converted to coins, to an external address. It usually takes 5 to 60 minutes, costs 2% plus network fees, needs full verification and cannot be reversed. Tether (USDT) is not offered in the EEA. In selected countries (not the UK), BitPay lets you top up your fiat balance from an external crypto wallet.
This is information, not financial advice. Crypto is high-risk; the wallet itself warns you could lose all the money you invest. Our crypto payment methods hub explains how crypto payments work.
Account, Login, Cards and Transfers
Neteller account: opening and closing are free. Sign-up needs a verified email and phone, a six-digit Secure ID and real details; a VPN can block verification, and new registrations from India are not accepted. Verification (KYC checks on your ID, a selfie and your address) lifts limits.
Neteller login: use the website or the iOS and Android app with email and password, then your Secure ID or a one-time code when asked; passkeys allow fingerprint or face. Password reset links last 24 hours.
Neteller cards: the phrase covers two things. The Net+ Prepaid Mastercard is a physical or virtual prepaid card spending your primary balance; its availability page lists the EEA plus Brazil, Gibraltar and the UK and calls the list “not conclusive”. The card page was blocked from our location, so we quote no card fees or limits. The other meaning is stored deposit cards: 3 unverified or 5 verified, and the CVV is never stored.
Neteller transfer: sending to another member by email or mobile number costs 2.99% (minimum USD 0.50), is free to receive and is final once processed. Skrill is the only other wallet you can send to.
Neteller support: phone +44 20 3308 9525, Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm UK time; the “Leo” virtual assistant runs 24/7, and in-account messages may take 24 to 48 hours.
| Level | How you reach it | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Default for every new personal account | Member transfers 2.99%; crypto trading 1.50% |
| Neteller True | Fully verified, a successful eligible card or bank deposit and an app login (paysafecard and PaysafeCash deposits do not count); a lifetime level | Member transfers 1.45% (minimum USD 0.50) |
| VIP | At least USD 15,000 (or equivalent) paid to merchants in a quarter; reviewed each calendar quarter | Priority bank uploads, higher limits, a free Net+ card for EEA and UK residents, multi-currency account, 24/7 email support, crypto 1.40% or 1.30%, currency conversion as low as 1%; Gold and above get a personal account manager; limits are not removed automatically |
Can Neteller Restrict or Freeze Your Account?
It can. The help centre says that not following its account guidance “may result in account limitations”. It warns against holding more than one account, using someone else’s payment methods, logging in through a VPN, proxy or open Wi-Fi, sharing your login, withdrawing casino money straight to a bank against the on-screen steps, and using a personal account for business.
If you are restricted, look for notices when you log in, which often carry deadlines, and send what is asked. Reactivation “may take anywhere between a couple of hours up to a few days or weeks”, depending on the reason and your cooperation.
Why Your Neteller Deposit at a Casino Failed
When a casino payment is refused, the cause is usually one of the rules above rather than a fault.
| What happened | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Payments to this site are not allowed" | Merchant policy, local rules or funding method | Ask the casino, try another funding option, finish any verification prompt |
| Card-funded money refused at a casino | Top-up was tagged non-gambling | Make a new top-up tagged for gambling |
| Mastercard-funded payment refused | Casino not on the wallet's Mastercard gambling list | Top up by Visa debit or bank transfer |
| Credit-card top-up refused for gambling | Card issued in the UK, Sweden, Belgium or Australia | Use a debit card or bank transfer |
| Every gambling payment declined | Gambling block is on | Working as designed; switching off takes 48 hours |
| Limit reached | Rolling limit for your verification level | Verify, use another option or wait 24 hours |
| Casino payout bounced | Email or name differs from your wallet account | Use the same email and matching details at the casino |
| Casino withdrawal "pending" for days | The casino's own approval or pending period, or an open verification request; the wallet only receives the money | Finish the casino's verification, read its withdrawal terms and contact casino support first |
| Bank top-up has not arrived | Some top-up methods are instant, others can take up to a few days | Check the timeframe shown when you deposited; if it has passed, send proof of payment through the support form |
| Cannot register or verify | Under 18, details that do not match your ID, a VPN or proxy, or residence in India | Switch the VPN off and use details that match your ID |
| Account restricted or documents requested again | A verification or compliance review (a common Trustpilot complaint theme) | Check the notices in your account, upload clear matching documents and expect anything from hours to weeks |
What We Could Not Verify
- An official list of served and restricted countries (the terms link to a page that redirects to the homepage). Only the 30 EEA countries and the UK are certain.
- Numeric account limits by verification level, or any fixed maximum withdrawal.
- Net+ card fees, ATM fees and card limits.
- The full list of account currencies offered at sign-up.
- Typical casino (rather than bookmaker) payout times and casino bonus exclusions.
| Where | What is confirmed | Limit of the evidence |
|---|---|---|
| 30 EEA countries | Served by Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited (Ireland) | Official list in help article 17 |
| United Kingdom | Served by Paysafe Financial Services Limited under the UK terms | Confirmed in the terms and help pages |
| Other countries | The crypto-trading country list names 80 countries, including Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE and South Africa | Called "subject to change and not conclusive"; it shows crypto eligibility, not casino acceptance or the full country list |
| India | New registrations are not accepted; the app is not available to download there | Existing account holders can continue |
| United States | Cards issued in the USA cannot be used to deposit | No official US availability statement found |
Who the Wallet Suits, and Who Should Skip It
It suits regular players who want instant casino deposits, one place to collect winnings from several sites, and a gambling block with a real cooling-off delay. It is weaker for frequent small top-ups and cash-outs, where the 2.5% top-up and the 2.8% bank withdrawal (minimum USD 3.50) add up.
The app covers all of it (see our mobile casinos guide); our payment methods hub compares other options.
