Skrill is a digital wallet run by the Paysafe Group, and it has been a standard cashier option at licensed casinos and bookmakers for years. You load money into an e-money account, then pay a casino from that balance using only your email address and password. Winnings come back to the same wallet, and from there you move them to your bank.
Short answer: it is a regulated, fast and widely accepted way to gamble online, with a genuinely useful gambling block built in. The catch is cost. Topping up by card, cashing out to a bank and converting currencies all carry fees, and some operators leave e-wallet deposits out of their welcome offers. Below we price all of that from the official fee page, checked on 20 October 2026. This guide is for adults aged 18 and over.

What Is Skrill? The E-Wallet Explained
If you are asking “what is Skrill payment”, think of a prepaid online account. The Skrill wallet holds electronic money that you add by debit or credit card, bank transfer or a local method, and you spend it wherever the wallet is accepted. It works on the web (Skrill online) and in the iOS and Android apps.
When you pay with the wallet, the merchant does not receive your card or bank details, according to the company’s help centre. The casino identifies you by the email address on your account instead. That separation is the main reason gamblers rate the Skrill payment method.
- Not a bank account: there is no IBAN, the balance earns no interest, and e-money does not expire.
- One primary currency: you choose it at sign-up and cannot switch it later, though you can hold extra currency balances.
- Closed network: it cannot send to other wallets, except Neteller, its Paysafe sister brand (see our Neteller review).
Gambling sits at the heart of the business. Paysafe’s FY2025 annual report says its Digital Wallets segment, which covers this wallet and Neteller, primarily serves the online gambling industry.
Who Runs the Wallet and Who Regulates It
The company you contract with depends on where you live. That matters for complaints and protection, so here is the split from the official “Which countries are serviced” article, cross-checked against the regulators’ own registers.
| Entity | Who it serves | Regulator and reference |
|---|---|---|
| Skrill Limited (England, company 04260907) | UK and other serviced countries outside the EEA and US | FCA authorised e-money institution, FRN 900001 |
| Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited (Dublin) | EEA residents | Central Bank of Ireland e-money institution, ref. C184986; MiCA crypto-asset licence since 3 Dec 2025 |
| Skrill USA, Inc. (Florida) | US states and territories | FinCEN-registered; state money transmitter licences |
| Paysafe Financial Services Limited (England) | Issues the prepaid Mastercard | FCA authorised e-money institution, FRN 900015 |
One change is coming for UK customers. The UK business is scheduled to move to Paysafe Financial Services Limited on or around 1 February 2027. The brand stays the same, and new terms for that date are already published.
Is Skrill Safe?
It is a legitimate, authorised firm, but it is not a bank. Your money is safeguarded: it is backed by funds held separately from the company’s own. It is not covered by the UK’s FSCS, and the terms warn that in an insolvency you could lose e-money. The help centre adds that getting your money back may take longer than it would from a bank.
Account security includes a six-digit PIN, extra login checks under Settings > Security, up to five trusted devices, fingerprint login in the app and 3-D Secure on card top-ups.
Customer opinion is split. On 20 October 2026 Trustpilot showed a 3.7 TrustScore from 27,847 reviews, with 65% five-star and 25% one-star. Common complaints were account restrictions, slow verification and delayed withdrawals. The terms allow suspension for suspected rule breaches, fraud or money laundering, so the next section matters.
How to Avoid Account Restrictions
Most restrictions trace back to a handful of rules in the terms and help centre:
- Hold one personal account only, in your own name, with details that match your ID.
- Register from your own connection, not through a VPN or proxy.
- Add only cards in your own name. Gift cards, and cards issued in Belarus, Russia or Turkey, are not accepted.
- Pay only licensed gambling operators. Payments to unlicensed gambling are prohibited.
- Answer source-of-wealth questions accurately and verify early.
- Follow the casino’s on-screen withdrawal steps rather than sending merchant money straight to your bank.
The help centre says lifting a restriction can take from a couple of hours to weeks, depending on the reason and your cooperation.

Skrill Casino Payments: Deposits vs Withdrawals
At almost any casino that accepts Skrill, deposits and withdrawals behave very differently, and most disappointment comes from expecting them to match.
Deposits are the easy half. Across Skrill casino sites, paying from your balance is instant and carries no transaction fee from the wallet. The cost sits in how you fund the balance (2.50% by card), and the 4.49% conversion fee applies if you pay in a currency other than your balance’s. If you top up by card first, that top-up is usually instant too, though it can take up to 20 minutes. The “pay by Skrill casino” routine itself is short: choose the wallet, log in and confirm.
Withdrawals depend on the casino. The help centre says transfers from merchants are instant on its side, but “merchants send funds from their sites at their own pace”. So the wait is the casino’s pending period, its verification checks and its processing queue.
Online casinos with Skrill in the cashier also commonly ask you to cash out to the method you deposited with, so plan your route before the first deposit. Skrill is a normal wallet, not a Pay N Play service: you register and verify the account first.
How to Deposit at a Skrill Casino
-
Step 1
Fund your wallet first. Choose Deposit in the app or on the website and add money by debit card or bank transfer. Answer the gambling question on card top-ups honestly.
-
Step 2
At a licensed casino, open the cashier, choose Deposit and pick the e-wallet from the list of payment options.
-
Step 3
Enter the amount. Check that it meets the casino minimum and, if you want a bonus, the bonus minimum and its payment-method rules.
-
Step 4
Log in to your wallet in the window that opens and confirm. You may be asked for a security code, or for full verification if the casino requires it.
-
Step 5
The money should show in your casino balance straight away. If it does not, see the troubleshooting table further down.
Casino Payouts: How Long They Really Take
Searches such as “Skrill withdrawal casino” or “Skrill instant withdrawal casino” are really asking how fast the operator approves payouts. Sports Mole’s tests of UK bookmakers, updated 1 June 2026, mostly found payouts within 12 to 24 hours, with one arriving in about three minutes. Treat that as a guide to well-run sites, not a promise.
Once the money is in your wallet, the official withdrawal times are:
| Destination | Official time | Published fee |
|---|---|---|
| Bank account | Under 1 day up to 5 business days | 2.80%, min EUR 3.50 |
| Visa or Mastercard | Up to 3 business days | 1.99% on the VIP page; not listed on the standard fees page |
| Neteller | Instant | 3.49% |
| Crypto wallet (where offered) | Instant, rarely pending up to 72 hours | 2.00% |
Our fast withdrawal casinos guide explains how payout speed is tested and what slows it down.
How to Withdraw Casino Winnings to Your Wallet
-
Step 1
In the casino cashier choose Withdraw and pick the e-wallet. The payout must go to an email address registered on your wallet account.
-
Step 2
Check that your name and details match at the casino and in your wallet.
-
Step 3
Wait through the casino's pending period. Once the casino sends the money, the wallet side is instant.
-
Step 4
To reach your bank, use Withdraw in the wallet and check the fee shown. Do not send casino money straight to your bank unless that option is offered.
Skrill Casino Minimum Deposit
There is no single Skrill minimum deposit. When people look up a “Skrill minimum deposit casino” figure, three different minimums can apply:
- The casino’s cashier minimum, which each site sets (the table below shows one set of bookmaker figures).
- The bonus minimum, which is often higher than the cashier minimum.
- The wallet’s own limits for each top-up method, shown inside your account rather than published.
| Item | Range found | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum deposit | £5 to £10 | £5 at four of ten, £10 at the rest |
| Maximum deposit | £5,000 to £10,000 | Stated for three of ten |
| Minimum withdrawal | £5 to £10 | £5 at two of ten |
| Maximum withdrawal | £3,000 to £75,000 | Stated for seven of ten |
| Payout speed in its tests | About 3 minutes to 24 hours | Bookmakers, not casinos; indicative only |
Why Your Deposit May Not Get the Bonus
Several UK bookmakers and casinos exclude e-wallet deposits from welcome offers, according to affiliate guides. We found no UK rule that requires this; each operator decides. Reload offers and free spins may follow different rules, so read the operator’s own bonus terms before you deposit. Our bonuses and free spins hub explains wagering and payment-method conditions.
If a payment fails outright, searches like “Skrill deposit casino declined” usually lead back to one of the causes below.
| Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|
| Gambling block is switched on | Payments to gambling merchants are declined. Turning it off takes effect after 48 hours. |
| Card money was marked "not for gambling" | That label cannot be changed. Top up again and answer the gambling question accordingly. |
| Funds came from a credit card and the site is UK or Australian | Credit-card money cannot be used on UK or Australian gambling sites. Use debit card or bank funding. |
| You hit a daily, weekly or monthly limit | Verify your account for higher limits or wait for the rolling period to reset. |
| The casino demands full or video verification | Complete the wallet's identity checks, then try again. |
| Your account is restricted | Contact support. Casino payouts to a restricted account also fail. |
| The site is unlicensed | Payments to unlicensed gambling are prohibited and can be reversed, with a fee. |
| A casino payout is not showing in the wallet | The payment must go to an email registered on your account, with matching details at both ends. Fix a mismatch under Settings, then Personal details (web browser only). If the casino shows it as sent, ask it for the transaction ID, then contact the wallet. |
Skrill Fees and Limits, With a Worked Example
Is Skrill free? Opening and holding a personal account is, provided you log in or make a transaction at least once every six months. Otherwise an inactivity fee of EUR 5.00 (or equivalent) is taken each month. Paying a casino and receiving winnings carry no transaction fee. Almost everything else costs money.
The figures below are from the official fees page as displayed in English on 20 October 2026. The page has a country selector and some top-up and withdrawal options vary by country, so check the version for your country inside the app.
| Action | Fee shown |
|---|---|
| Top up by Visa, Mastercard, JCB or Diners Club | 2.50% |
| Top up by bank transfer or local method | Shown in your account by country |
| Pay a casino from your balance | No transaction fee |
| Receive casino winnings | No transaction fee (conversion may apply) |
| Withdraw to bank (local or SWIFT) | 2.80%, minimum EUR 3.50 |
| Withdraw to Neteller | 3.49% |
| Currency conversion | Wallet exchange rate plus 4.49% (VIP 1.99% to 2.89%) |
| Send to another user | 2.99%, or 1.45% for True Skriller (min EUR 0.50) |
| Inactivity (no use for 6 months) | EUR 5.00 per month |
| Chargeback | EUR 25 |
Worked example. You add £100 by debit card and pay the 2.50% fee of £2.50 (the screen shows whether it is added on top or deducted before you confirm). You deposit that £100 at a UK casino from your balance: no wallet fee.
You win, and the casino pays £300 back to the wallet: no wallet fee. You then withdraw £300 to your bank: 2.80% is £8.40, above the minimum. Total wallet fees: £10.90. If the casino had paid you in euros into a sterling wallet, the 4.49% conversion fee would apply on top.
Admin fees. The fees page lists charges of up to EUR 150 for inaccurate information or prohibited transactions; the October 2023 Terms of Use still say up to EUR 60, so rely on the current page. Credit-card issuers may also add their own cash-advance fee for gambling.
Limits. The company publishes no fixed figures. Limits depend on your country, verification level and method, run on rolling daily, weekly and monthly periods, and are shown next to each option in your account. Verifying your identity raises them.
VIP tiers. Players who move large sums can qualify for Silver, Gold or Diamond status from EUR 15,000, 45,000 or 90,000 of merchant deposits per quarter. The perks include lower conversion fees and free bank withdrawals. Treat that as a cost saving, never as a reason to deposit more.
Skrill Gambling Block and Spending Controls
The gambling block is the feature we would point any reader to first. Once switched on, transactions to merchants under a gambling merchant category code are declined before they go through, so across Skrill gambling sites it covers sportsbooks, poker and bingo rooms coded as gambling, not just casinos.
- Blocked: payments at gambling sites from your balance, prepaid card payments at gambling merchants, and 1-Tap payments.
- Not blocked: card top-ups marked for gambling, payouts from gambling sites into the wallet, and recurring payments you set up earlier.
The official gambling block article confirms a 48-hour cool-down: if you switch it off, the block only lifts after 48 hours, and the account shows the time remaining. That delay is deliberate. It gives you two days to reconsider before you can deposit again.
How to Switch On the Gambling Block
- Log in on the website or in the app.
- Go to Settings, then Verification & features, then Spending control.
- Turn the gambling block on. From that moment, payments to gambling merchants are declined.
- Prefer help? Customer support can switch it on for you.
Credit Cards, Gambling and the UK Rules
Every card top-up asks whether you want to use the money for gambling. Funds marked “no” cannot be spent at gambling merchants, and the label cannot be changed later.
Money funded by credit card cannot be used on UK or Australian gambling sites, and credit cards issued in the UK, Sweden, Belgium and Australia cannot be used for gambling anywhere. In the UK this sits alongside licence condition 6.1.2 of the UK Gambling Commission, which since 14 April 2020 has barred licensed operators from taking credit-card payments, including through a money service business. An e-wallet is not a way around that ban.
The wallet’s block works best combined with the deposit limits, reality checks and self-exclusion options at the casino itself. In Great Britain, the National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133, free, 24 hours) and GamStop’s free self-exclusion are the main services, and our responsible gambling guide lists more.
Skrill Account: Sign Up, Login, App and Codes
Whether you search for “Skrill sign up” or “open Skrill account”, the process is the same, and you must be 18 or over:
- Choose your country of residence and primary currency.
- Enter your email and a password, then confirm the one-time code or link (valid 15 minutes).
- Add your personal details and address, and verify your phone by SMS.
- Set a six-digit PIN.
- Verify your identity with a photo ID and a selfie, then your address (browser location in selected countries, or a document under 90 days old). No review time is stated; an email confirms the result.
These know-your-customer (KYC) checks may include questions about the source of your money. An unverified account can make most payments up to its limits, but withdrawals may need identity checks, so verify before you need a payout.
When we checked the countries article on 20 October 2026, it pointed to the sign-up form’s country list, which showed 116 countries and territories. New registrations from India are no longer accepted.
Login, App and What a "Skrill Code" Means
The Skrill login uses your email, password and PIN, sometimes with an extra security step. The free Skrill app for iPhone (iOS 15.1 or later) and Android covers deposits, casino payments, sends and withdrawals, and it suits mobile casinos well. Download it only from the official app stores.
“Skrill code” can mean several things: the one-time code at sign-up, the SMS code for your phone, your PIN, a four-digit code used to verify a card, or your bank’s 3-D Secure code. We found no casino bonus code issued by the wallet itself.
Skrill Card Options: Prepaid and Virtual
People search for a “Skrill debit card”, but the real product is the Skrill prepaid card: a Prepaid Mastercard issued by Paysafe Financial Services Limited. A Skrill virtual card is also available; it is issued immediately on approval and works only where no physical card is needed. Spending draws on your primary balance.
The card’s official country list covers the EEA plus the UK and Gibraltar, although a few older help articles still say EEA only. Check in the app before you apply. Card fees did not appear on the current fee page when we looked, so we cannot quote them.
1-Tap, Promotions and Money Transfer
Skrill 1-Tap lets you authorise a merchant once and then pay without logging in each time. You can review or cancel it under Settings > Subscriptions and 1-Tap payments. It is convenient at a casino, but it also removes a natural pause, so set limits if you use it. The gambling block stops 1-Tap payments to gambling merchants.
Skrill promotions come in two forms: Knect loyalty points earned on most transactions, and the VIP programme described above.
Skrill Money Transfer is a separate international send service with its own fees, up to 4.99% on some transfers.
Skrill Betting Sites, Sportsbooks and Bingo
Betting with Skrill works exactly like casino play: betting sites that accept Skrill list it in the sportsbook cashier, you log in and confirm, and winnings return to your balance. Some gambling sites that accept Skrill put a sportsbook, casino and bingo room under one account, in which case the same balance covers all three.
Looking for betting sites that use Skrill, a Skrill sportsbook or Skrill bingo sites? Three cautions apply. Welcome offers may exclude e-wallets, the bookmaker sets payout speed, and Sports Mole notes that verification may slow down a first withdrawal. Bookies that accept Skrill should be licensed where you live, and good betting sites with Skrill state which deposits qualify.
How to Choose the Best Skrill Casino
Most lists of Skrill casinos look alike. Whether you searched for casinos with Skrill, casinos that accept Skrill or gambling websites that accept Skrill, the same checks narrow the field of online casinos accepting Skrill:
- Licence in your country, such as the UKGC for British players. Not all gambling websites that use Skrill are licensed where you live, the wallet’s terms prohibit payments to unlicensed gambling, and UK players are better protected on UKGC-licensed sites. A licensed site must show a licence statement linking to the Commission’s public register, which lists its activities and any regulatory action.
- Deposits and withdrawals: confirm the casino pays out to the wallet, not just accepts deposits.
- Fees, limits and payout times for this method in the cashier.
- Bonus terms, since some casinos exclude e-wallet deposits.
- Safer-gambling tools such as deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion.
The Top 5 panel directly below this guide does the shortlisting for you. It ranks licensed Skrill online casinos by FAQsino Trust Score and adjusts to the country you visit from. For full write-ups, browse our casino reviews.
Skrill vs Neteller, Cards and Bank Payments
The two Paysafe wallets can send money to each other (3.49% each way), which no other outside wallet can. The table below sets their published fees beside PayPal’s; our Neteller review covers the rest. Against direct methods such as Visa, Mastercard or Trustly, the trade-off is privacy and a separate gambling balance versus extra fees.
| Action | Skrill | Neteller | PayPal (UK personal) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top up by Visa or Mastercard | 2.50% | 2.5% | No funding fee listed; a refundable GBP 9.00 card-confirmation charge can apply |
| Pay a casino or merchant from the balance | No transaction fee | No fee from the balance | No fee when no currency conversion is involved |
| Withdraw to a bank | 2.80%, minimum EUR 3.50 | 2.80%, minimum USD 3.50 (from 12 January 2026) | No fee to a UK bank account without currency conversion |
| Move money between the two Paysafe wallets | 3.49% | 3.49% | Not applicable |
| Currency conversion | Wallet rate plus 4.49% | Wallet rate plus 4.49% | Personal-account rate not clearly stated on the UK fee page |
| Inactivity | EUR 5.00 a month after 6 months | USD 5.00 a month after 6 months | Not checked |
| Send to another user | 2.99% (1.45% True Skriller, min EUR 0.50) | 2.99% (1.45% Neteller True, min USD 0.50) | Not checked |
| If you want to | With this wallet | Worth considering instead |
|---|---|---|
| Keep gambling money apart from your bank | Good fit: separate wallet balance | Not needed |
| Claim a welcome bonus | Check terms: e-wallets are often excluded | A debit card, if the offer allows it |
| Avoid wallet fees | 2.50% card top-up, 2.80% to bank | Paying the casino directly by debit card or bank |
| Move money between Paysafe wallets | Send to Neteller (3.49%) | A Neteller account |
| Block gambling payments | Built-in block, 48-hour cool-down | A bank card gambling block, where offered |

Skrill Customer Service and Support
One help article promises 24/7 support on every channel, but the official contact page is more precise:
- Phone: +1 855 719 2087, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 7 pm EST, with a list of local numbers.
- Sofia virtual assistant: chat around the clock.
- “Message us” inside your account: replies may take 24 to 48 hours.
- VIP members: dedicated 24/7 care, according to the VIP programme page.
UK customers who are unhappy with a complaint outcome can take it to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Need Skrill support for a stuck casino payout? If the casino shows it as sent, contact the wallet with the transaction ID. If it is still pending, ask the casino.
— FAQsino Payments DeskWhat We Could Not Verify
- A current official list of restricted countries; we used the live sign-up country list instead.
- Fixed account limits and minimum amounts, which appear only inside the account.
- Prepaid Mastercard fees and spending limits.
- An operator’s own terms page showing the e-wallet bonus exclusion.
- Typical payout times at casino sites, as opposed to bookmakers.
Our Take: Is It Worth Using?
If you play at an online casino with Skrill regularly and want instant deposits, a separate gambling balance and a proper self-block, it remains one of the most practical tools around. Budget for the top-up and cash-out fees, read the bonus terms before you deposit, and switch on the gambling block the moment you want a break.
