Paysafecard is a prepaid payment method built on a 16-digit PIN: you buy a code with cash or a card, then pay online without sharing bank details. For casino players in Europe there is a twist most guides skip. In many countries a Paysafecard casino deposit cannot be made with the raw code at all. It has to come from a registered account.
Short answer: it is a widely accepted voucher at licensed European casinos and bookmakers. Its issuers are e-money institutions supervised in Ireland and the UK, and paying a merchant in your own currency costs nothing extra. The catches are fees on idle balances, payouts that only some operators support, and balances that neither the UK FSCS nor the Irish deposit guarantee scheme covers. We checked everything below on official pages on 20 October 2026.
At a glance (checked 20 October 2026)
Paysafecard Casino Payments: Why You Need an Account Login
This is the rule that decides how Paysafecard gambling works. The official help centre says that where local regulations in your country of registration require it, you cannot pay casinos, poker rooms or betting sites with your 16-digit code. You log in to a registered account instead, and the site takes the money from its balance.
A merchant limits overview dated April 2025 names the countries where betting and iGaming payments are only possible via an account: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the UK. France, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Norway, Estonia and Switzerland are not marked, but local rules still apply. If a login window opens at checkout, that merchant does not take code payments.
In those markets, an online casino Paysafecard payment opens a login window rather than a code box. One detail trips people up at Paysafecard gambling sites. Your name and date of birth at the casino must match the account, or the payment fails for a data mismatch.
That also means it is not anonymous at a casino: licensed operators run their own age and identity checks, and the Unlimited account upgrade needs an ID document and a selfie. The help centre puts the minimum age for gambling payments at “generally 16 to 18”, depending on the country. FAQsino covers adult play only: 18+.
What Is Paysafecard? The Code, the Account and the Wallet
What is a Paysafecard, exactly? The help centre describes a prepaid code that lets you pay online with cash. How does Paysafecard work in practice? You buy the voucher in a shop or online, then type the 16 digits at the checkout of a participating merchant. Several codes can be combined in one payment. Codes do not expire, but a monthly fee eats into balances left unused.
What is Paysafecard used for? The Paysafecard payment method pays thousands of online shops without a bank account or card and, through the account, licensed gambling sites. Each Paysafecard voucher is country-specific. You cannot load a code from another country into your account; the help centre says you may still be able to use it directly at online shops, or ask support once for a goodwill exchange.
To check a balance, enter all 16 digits on the official balance-check page. The registered account, once branded my paysafecard, is now called the PaysafeCard account.
| Product | What it is | Gambling use | Limits | Main fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 16-digit code | Prepaid PIN; no personal data used | Only where local rules allow | GBP 40 / EUR 50 per payment | Monthly fee from the 2nd month |
| Registered account | Free account with two-factor login, loaded with PINs | The standard route at casinos | Up to 1,000 GBP/EUR per transaction (UK, IE), with lower monthly caps on Standard status | Inactivity fee after 12 months |
| PaysafeWallet | E-money account with IBAN, SEPA transfers and a debit Mastercard | Not covered by the gambling block | See the wallet terms | See the wallet terms |
| Prepaid Mastercard | Prepaid card | Discontinued from 31 July 2025 | Existing cards work until expiry | n/a |
How to Use Paysafecard Without an Account
For ordinary online shopping you can still pay with the code alone, up to GBP 40 per payment in the UK or EUR 50 in Ireland and most euro countries, without giving any personal data. The trade-off is the monthly fee from the second month on whatever you leave on the code. For casinos and bookmakers, plan on needing the account.
Paysafecard Across Europe: Fees and Limits by Country
What sites accept Paysafecard, and where? The official website links 47 country pages, about three-quarters of them in Europe, and each sets its own fees. In the table, the monthly fee comes off a code’s remaining balance from the second month, inactivity applies to an account with no payments for 12 months, and the payout fee is deducted from each withdrawal to a bank. Figures come from each country’s official fees and limits page.
| Country | Currency | Max per code payment | Monthly code fee | Account inactivity fee | Bank payout fee | Gambling via account only (Apr 2025) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | GBP | 40 | 4 | 5 | 6 | Yes |
| Ireland | EUR | 50 | 4 | 5 | 7.50 | Yes |

| Austria | EUR | 50 | 3.30 | 2.80 | 5%, max 5 | Yes |
| Spain, Finland, Belgium, Malta | EUR | 50 | 4 | 5 | 7.50 | Yes |
| France, Netherlands | EUR | 50 | 4 | 5 | 7.50 | Not marked |

Paysafecard UK: What Is Different
UK codes come in GBP 10, 25, 40, 50, 75 and 100, and the official UK page lists retailers such as ASDA, PayPoint, WHSmith, OneStop and TGJones. The UK issuer is a separate London company. Operators licensed by the Gambling Commission may not accept credit card payments for gambling, a ban in force since 14 April 2020. Our UK Gambling Commission review explains how to check an operator’s licence.
Where Can I Use Paysafecard Outside Europe?
The country list also covers Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay and three Gulf states, with local limits such as CAD 400 per code payment in Canada and AUD 200 in Australia.
How to Set Up a Paysafecard Account for Casino Payments
-
Step 1
Use the Paysafecard sign up link on the official website and register in your own name. You may hold one account, in the country where you live.
-
Step 2
The Paysafecard login asks for your username and password plus two-factor authentication: a six-digit code by SMS or email, or a push message in the app.
-
Step 3
Top up: in the app choose Add Money and enter or scan a 16-digit PIN, or enter it on the account homepage and press the plus button.
-
Step 4
For higher limits, open Limits & Status and upgrade to Unlimited with an ID document, a selfie and a few questions. The help centre says this usually takes minutes, sometimes one to two days.
How to Deposit with Paysafecard at a Licensed Casino
-
Step 1
Load your account with a PIN bought in a shop or online. A PIN bought while logged in can top up the balance automatically.
-
Step 2
In the casino cashier, choose to pay with Paysafecard and enter an amount within the casino minimum and your account limits. Betting.co.uk reports that 45 of the 54 UK casino sites it tested had a minimum deposit of ยฃ10 or less (its own figures, updated 13 October 2026).
-
Step 3
When the login window opens, enter your account details and confirm the payment.
-
Step 4
Comparison sites report that deposits usually appear straight away. Payments are final, so any dispute goes to the casino, not the issuer.
Buy Paysafecard Online or in a Shop
You can buy codes in a shop found through the official outlet finder, paying cash or by card at the till, or online in the PIN Shop. How to buy Paysafecard online: log in or, in many EU countries, buy one PIN as a guest, pick a value from EUR 5 to EUR 150 or the local equivalent, and choose a payment method. The company charges no fee for online purchases, and the PIN arrives on screen and by email, or goes straight into your account.
Guest purchase (one PIN, up to EUR 150 or the equivalent) is offered in some countries; the UK buy-online page asks you to log in or register. Up to ten codes can be bought at an outlet at once, according to the Irish terms. Sweden’s fee page notes a 5 SEK charge per code at some outlets; elsewhere the fee pages describe use as generally free apart from the listed fees.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Buy Paysafecard with credit card or debit card? | The PIN Shop takes Visa and Mastercard, but residents of the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Sweden and Australia cannot use credit cards, for regulatory reasons. Use a debit card there. Payment options vary by country. |
| Buy Paysafecard with phone credit? | Not listed among the official purchase methods we checked. |
| Is there a Paysafecard Klarna option? | Not an official PIN Shop option. One reseller offers Klarna at its own checkout in some countries. |
| Pay for a PIN with PayPal? | Named as a purchase method on the German help page. It varies by country. |
| Paysafecard top up: how do I recharge Paysafecard? | Load a new 16-digit PIN into your account. To add value without an account, buy another code. |
| Buy from eBay or other marketplaces? | No. The company prohibits unauthorised resellers and cannot guarantee such codes. |
Deposits vs Withdrawals: The Paysafecard Casino Reality Check
Getting money in is easy; getting it out depends on the casino. Nothing can be paid out to a 16-digit code. The help centre says some online shops can pay out to a registered account and that payouts are free on the issuer’s side. The steps: choose withdraw or cash out at the casino, pick PaysafeCard, enter the email address linked to your account, then the amount. It also says plainly that not all shops support this, and the casino’s own limits and fees may apply.
Comparison-site tests suggest most online casinos with Paysafecard deposits treat it as deposit-only. On the PokerStars Paysafecard question, the operator’s Swedish payment page accepts deposits but says withdrawals this way are not supported. Betting.co.uk reported that none of the 54 UK sites it tested allowed withdrawals to it. Plan a second route before you play; our fast withdrawals guide covers the quicker options.
| Route | Possible? | Cost and timing |
|---|---|---|
| Code to casino | Only where local rules allow | No issuer fee in your own currency |
| Account to casino | Yes, at participating sites | No issuer fee in your own currency |
| Casino to code | No | n/a |
| Casino to account | Only if the operator offers it | Free from the issuer; casino fees may apply |
| Paysafecard withdrawal to bank account | Yes, in certain countries: same country, own name | GBP 6 (UK), EUR 7.50 (IE), 5% max EUR 5 (DE, AT); usually 3 to 5 business days |
| Account to PayPal | No official function found | n/a |
| Unused code back to cash | Via the official refund form | Refund fee deducted |
How to Transfer Money from Paysafecard to a Bank Account
Log in, add your bank’s name, IBAN and BIC under Settings, then choose a withdrawal and the amount. The bank account must be in your own name and in the country where the account is registered, and a sent withdrawal cannot be cancelled. Standard status allows 250 GBP or EUR a month to a bank in the UK and Ireland; Unlimited raises that to GBP 24,000 a year in the UK and EUR 30,000 in Ireland.
Fees and Limits, With a Worked Example
Paying a merchant in your own currency costs nothing from the issuer. Costs come from four places: the monthly fee on an unregistered code, the account inactivity fee, the bank payout fee and currency conversion. The terms set conversion at 3% where the euro is involved; the UK terms charge 6.09% where it is not.
Worked example (Ireland): you buy a EUR 50 code in a shop and load it into your account, so no monthly code fee applies. You deposit EUR 50 at a licensed casino and the issuer charges nothing. If the casino later pays EUR 200 to your account and you withdraw it to your Irish bank, the EUR 7.50 payout fee leaves EUR 192.50. Leave EUR 20 on an unregistered code instead, and EUR 4 a month from the second month leaves about EUR 12 by the third month.
Account caps are not published on the consumer pages; you see yours under Limits & Status. The April 2025 merchant overview below gives an indication, but check your own account.
Casino minimums and maximums are set by each operator. CasinoAlpha reports an average maximum deposit of about ยฃ200 for this method at UK casinos, against ยฃ2,000 or more for debit cards. Treat that as a UK reference point; European casinos set their own.
| Country | Standard: monthly top-ups and payments | Standard: lifetime | Unlimited: single payment | Unlimited: maximum balance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | GBP 250 | GBP 1,000 | GBP 1,000 | GBP 4,000 |
| Ireland | EUR 500 | EUR 1,500 | EUR 1,000 | EUR 5,000 |
| Germany | EUR 500 | EUR 1,000 | EUR 1,000 | EUR 5,000 |
| Sweden | SEK 5,400 | SEK 16,200 | EUR 1,000 equivalent | SEK 40,000 |
Paysafecard Betting Sites, Bookmakers and Esports
Paysafecard betting sites follow the same rules as casinos. In the 23 listed countries, betting sites that accept Paysafecard take it through the account login, and the same holds for betting sites that use Paysafecard, so betting with Paysafecard starts with registering. The official UK page of featured online shops includes several bookmakers that accept Paysafecard, and the Swedish page lists sportsbooks too. A logo there is not proof that a Paysafecard bookmaker accepts it in your country today, so check the cashier first.
Paysafecard sports betting works like a casino deposit, with the same payout gap, so check the withdrawal list at betting sites with Paysafecard, from Paysafecard bookies to Paysafecard sportsbooks, before you sign up. Paysafecard esports betting has no special feature either: the brand sponsors the esports organisation BIG (announced March 2026), and bookmakers take it like any other deposit.
Do Paysafecard Deposits Qualify for Bonuses?
It depends on the casino, and the answer sits in the bonus terms. CasinoAlpha (16 October 2026) warns that some casinos exclude voucher deposits from welcome offers. Betting.co.uk (13 October 2026) says Paysafecard bonuses can usually be claimed without the limits some sites put on e-wallet deposits, though several free bets in its table need a debit card.
Before paying, find the excluded payment methods in the terms, check the qualifying minimum, and see whether a withdrawal request cancels the bonus. Browse offers on our bonuses and free spins page.
How to Choose the Best Paysafecard Online Casinos
Which casinos accept Paysafecard changes by country and by month, so no fixed list of top Paysafecard casinos stays accurate for long. Whether you want the best online casinos that accept Paysafecard or a single casino that accepts Paysafecard in your country, judge Paysafecard casino sites on these checks:
- Licence: the operator is licensed in your country, confirmed on the regulator’s register.
- Both directions: it takes deposits via the account and states how it pays winnings.
- Costs and limits: casino minimums, any casino fee and payout times.
- Bonus terms: whether a voucher deposit qualifies.
- Safer-gambling tools: deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion.
The same checks apply whether you pick a top Paysafecard online casino, any other Paysafecard casino online or one of the Paysafecard betting sites. The automatic Top 5 casinos panel directly below this guide ranks sites by FAQsino Trust Score and adapts to your location. For full operator checks, browse our casino reviews.
How to Check a Casino's Licence in Your Country
Use the register of the regulator in the country you play from, and match the operator’s name and web address.
- Sweden: the licence and permit directory of the Swedish Gambling Authority.
- Germany: the official whitelist of permitted providers kept by the GGL. According to that page, licensed providers must state on their homepage that they hold a state permit and name the issuing authority.
- Elsewhere: our gambling authorities hub covers each regulator.
Block Gambling Transactions: The 48-Hour Cool-Down
The account has an optional setting, Block gambling transactions, found under Security. While it is on, payments from your balance to merchants in the gambling category are declined. Switching it off starts a 48-hour cool-down before the block lifts, and you can switch it back on at any time. Customer support can also turn it on for you.
Know its limits. The block does not stop payouts from gambling sites, existing recurring payments, or payments made with PaysafeWallet or the old Mastercard. For a firmer barrier, pair it with your bank’s gambling block and the casino’s own limits or self-exclusion. In Germany, licensed operators must also respect a cross-provider deposit cap of EUR 1,000 a month, which an operator may raise only under GGL conditions, according to the GGL.
In Sweden, Spelpaus.se, run by the Swedish Gambling Authority, lets you exclude yourself from all registered gambling with licensed companies, online and in person, for 10 days up to an open-ended period of at least 12 months. It cannot be ended early.
The Additional Support Programme, an opt-in under your profile settings, lets the support team switch on the block, discuss spending limits and refer you to charities. For the UK and Ireland the help centre lists GamCare, Gamblers Anonymous and Gambling Therapy. Our responsible gambling page has more support.
A cash voucher feels like a budget, but the account behind it can be topped up again in minutes. Switch on the gambling block before you need it, not after a losing session.
— FAQsino Payments DeskIs Paysafecard Safe? Regulation, Money Protection and Scams
The issuers are regulated e-money institutions. For the EU and EEA, Paysafe Prepaid Services Limited in Dublin (company 626671) appears on the Central Bank of Ireland register as C185005. In the UK, Prepaid Services Company Limited (company 05761861) is on the FCA register as an authorised electronic money institution, firm reference number 900021, since 12 April 2018. Both belong to Paysafe, listed in New York as PSFE.
Regulation has limits. The UK terms say the FSCS does not apply, and the Irish terms exclude the Irish Deposit Guarantee Scheme. The terms we read contain no safeguarding statement, although the FCA register notes that e-money firms may be required to safeguard customer funds. Payments are final, with no chargeback through the issuer, so keep balances low. On Trustpilot the company scored 4.6 from 89,228 reviews on 20 October 2026; Trustpilot’s summary of complaints centres on verification and delayed withdrawals.
| Entity | Role | Registration |
|---|---|---|
| Paysafe Prepaid Services Limited, Dublin | EU/EEA issuer of the code, account and PaysafeWallet | Irish company 626671; Central Bank of Ireland C185005 (e-money institution) |
| Prepaid Services Company Limited, London | UK issuer | Company 05761861; FCA FRN 900021 (authorised e-money institution, register checked) |
| paysafecard.com Wertkarten GmbH, Vienna | Austrian company that owns the trademark (Paysafe regulatory disclosures) | Commercial register FN 194434h |
| Paysafe Ltd | Group parent | NYSE: PSFE |
Scam Warnings: Protect Your Paysafecard 16-Digit PIN
The official security pages boil down to treating every code like cash:
- Never share the full 16-digit PIN. The service team asks only for the serial number.
- Authorities, law firms and debt collectors do not demand payment by voucher code. Any such request is fraud.
- Tools that claim to hack, generate or “multiply” credit are fraud; the company calls this technically impossible and will not refund credit lost that way.
- Fake “Windows update” lock screens, prize or loan fees and job offers that ask for a code are known scams.
- Enter a code only in the authorised payment window, and buy only from official outlets.
If a code is stolen, lock it online or through the UK hotline on the security page. Locking only helps while the balance is unused. Report fraud to the police too.
Why a Casino Deposit Failed: Quick Fixes
Most failed payments trace back to a few causes the help centre describes.
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The site will not take your code | Gambling needs an account in your country | Register, load the PIN and pay by login |
| Declined for data mismatch | Name or date of birth differ between the two accounts | Match both; replace special characters with plain letters |
| Code rejected | Bought in another country | Try paying with the code directly at the shop, or ask support about a one-off exchange |
| Over the limit | Code or account limit reached | Lower the amount or upgrade to Unlimited |
| Payment blocked | The gambling block is on | Working as intended; switching off takes 48 hours |
| Shop not available | VPN on, or the merchant does not serve your country | Switch off the VPN; check the merchant's countries |
Timeline: From Vienna to PaysafeWallet
The prepaid Mastercard’s successor is PaysafeWallet, which Paysafe says is live in 19 EU countries after Poland joined in August 2026. The UK page described the wallet as still in development, so check before relying on it there.
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 2000 | Launched in Vienna as a cash voucher for online payments (public company histories) |
| 2001 | Launch in Germany (reported) |
| 2013 | Acquired by Skrill (reported) |
| 2015 | Part of Paysafe after the Skrill group was bought and the group renamed (reported) |
| March 2021 | Paysafe shares begin trading on the NYSE as PSFE (reported) |
| 31 July 2025 | Prepaid Mastercard discontinued; existing cards run to expiry |
| March 2026 | Esports sponsorship with BIG announced |
| April 2026 | PaysafeWallet introduced (18 European countries, per Paysafe's announcement) |
| August 2026 | PaysafeWallet live in Poland |
How It Compares with Other Vouchers and Paysafe's E-Wallets
Among vouchers, the edge here is reach plus a regulated account with a real, if patchy, payout path. Neosurf pairs its voucher with an optional account, Flexepin is a pure voucher, and none of the three can receive winnings on the code itself. Cashlib and CashtoCode are other cash-funded options. Paysafe also owns Skrill and Neteller, e-wallets that casinos commonly support for withdrawals, so many players deposit with a voucher and keep an e-wallet or bank transfer for winnings. The prepaid voucher category lists every voucher we review.
| Method | Type | Casino payouts to it |
|---|---|---|
| Paysafecard | 16-digit PIN plus registered account | Only where the operator pays to the account |
| Neosurf | Prepaid voucher with optional account | Not to the voucher; some operators pay to the account |
| Flexepin | Prepaid voucher | Not to the voucher |
| Skrill / Neteller | E-wallets (also Paysafe) | Commonly offered |
| Trustly | Pay by bank, approved in your banking app | Generally within 72 hours once the casino releases the payout (our Trustly review) |
Accept Paysafecard Payments: A Note for Merchants
Businesses that want to take these payments apply through Paysafe’s business pages, which link integration downloads and a service centre. Those pages do not describe the Paysafecard payment gateway in detail, merchant fees are not published, and paying customers out requires the merchant to support the payout option.
What We Could Not Verify
- Current account caps per country: the April 2025 figures may have changed.
- Which countries allow bank withdrawals from the account.
- Whether PaysafeWallet is available in the UK.
- The founding history, which rests on public company histories, not a reachable official page.
- Whether a code bought by credit card at a third-party shop falls under the UK credit card rules.
Our Verdict for Casino Players
The voucher is a widely accepted prepaid way to pay licensed casinos and bookmakers across Europe, backed by regulated issuers in Ireland and the UK. Treat it as a deposit tool with a built-in brake, not a home for winnings: register the account, switch on the gambling block if you want one, keep balances small, and set up your withdrawal route before the first spin.
